It takes around one hour for the decoder to be activated. Didn't the installer tell you ?

anybody tell me whether the new FOX channel has those pesky subtitles ?

The two cables is because there are 2 tuners.

I changed to new PVR but didn't subscribe to HD. When we upgrade to HD, just call customer and activate it.

We have already informed astro users in this forum. The installer has to pull in another line to my existing line to become 2.

Why can't you pull two lines ?

I have no problems just run it parallel to the first.

I can record all my programs without any problems. But one important thing to remember is you must put PVR either on standby or ON position. It cannot record when power is off.

I suggest you ask ASTRO to change the set if problem still persists.

My installer said cannot get max signal no matter how you adjust the dish. Is this true ?

What is your PVR strength ?

I just found out how to record the whole series. When the show is being recorded, go to planner and hit record again.

Then it will show up in the 'series' tab.

But I got a series linking on my recording schedule, but don't know whether it works.


When will it be ready ? 'Soon' can be few years if we talk about ASSTRO.

Asstro is a monopoly. If there are other competitors in Msia, Asstro would have gone out of business by now.

I am sure most people here who has been in other countries would agree.

I have written many software for donkey years, why not hire me to write a better software and in a shorter time ?

Astro can't even give optional subtitles and reduce the font size which is easily done by other countries. How about giving the episode numbers which most people in other countries would have done already. I can list out many others but nothing will change....

This very basic feature is also not present. They don't even bother to type the episode number.

Astro sucks.

Astro won't hire me because they already have people working there and I am sure their HR manager can't assess a person properly. (else why they hire people who can't perform ?)

For example, (problem for MANY years)

What's the point of having that Audio and Subtitle settings if they don't work ?

Audio: Language A (but speak in Language B)

Subtitle: None (but BIG subtitles appear)


Why is there no audio, subtitle setting for individual channels instead ?

Not everyone of us is a master of all languages.

Why is Jackie Chan cartoon show in BM and not the original language English ? Why is there no Audio settings for this other than that I-II which will get reset to default if we change channel ?

I don't know whether this is a sincere offer or just a way to get back at me just because I criticise Astro.

I think Astro should be more open to constructive criticism and improve their programming and features.

Look mate, I used to have people in the USA who look down on asians thinking we cannot do difficult programming job until I managed to revamp their software after a few months and come out with a better solution. After that, they shut their 'ang moh' mouth because I wrote better software than an 'ang moh'.

You won't be able to find out whether I can do the task until I understand your software design, do some research, read your source code etc which will take several months.

If you are sincere and understand what I said, then PM me.

Not if the business is a monopoly. If you don't want to subscribe, there are tons of customers who have no choice. Blame it on XXX...

They bundle the 'nobody wants to watch channel' with the popular channels and call it as a package.

Some packages are logical eg. News, cartoon etc. but why is the Anime in the Variety package when it should be in cartoon ?

They just don't know how to troubleshoot, they all read a list of questions (presumably from their supervisors) like 'robots'.
