Just got myself the Ceanataur armor set. What do you reckon would be a good armor for someone at the range of village quest 4 to progress easier ?
*
Upgrade it to the max and it should last you till HR6 (Guild) so that you can go for the higher rank Ceanataur (U or S) armours.

My path when I played back then was : Yian Kut Ku -> Ceanataur -> Ceanataur U and S (Swap here n there) or Tigrex (for Earplugs) -> Terra Ceanataur armour etc

Rajang/Silver Soul/White Fatalis are absolute best for gunners

Rather than looking at the type of armour, pick the skills that fits you best. But better to get gunner armours later into the game. Use your melee to fund for your range weapons/armours because lower ranks armours with range weapons is really a huge waste of time. (each boss kill can take like 30-50 min when u can kill them in less than 15 min using melee.... )

gundamalpha's suggestions are the best I suppose smile.gif Lavasioth armour is also good (for bow).

Or roll to the left leg of a monster when it roars so that when it moves right after it finishes roaring, its leg will free you from the stun.

Haha gundam's suggestions are high end armors tongue.gif I'm still at low rank (4* village and HR2).
Funds aren't a problem as I've been alternating training school, guildhall and village elder quests.
I have about 100k now, not withstanding spending 3-4k per round on shots tongue.gif

No doubt I'm a ranged user, but I usually stay quite close to the monster.

New monsters take me longer as I'm learning its habitats and attack patterns with learning how to counter.
I dont mind the speed of the kill - I'm very satisfied that I break all the monster parts then only killing them tongue.gif

normally, using gs i manage to break all parts (except for red crab shell) before killing.

it may seem to be not much of a big deal to kill fast, but once u arrive at urgent quests like guild/elder tigrex, time is your enemy. when i first started as well as many other hunters, it took us nearly the entire time limit to kill it.

if u still insist on going range. u can try one set i did last time, garuga mask, insectaur chest (and maybe hands), and chrome belt/greaves.

u can slot in some skill and have HGE if i m not mistaken. it was one of my early range armors

if you play using gs,lance or sns, you can forget about tigrex armor for earplugs. just block (something derlin doesnt know how to do since hes a hammer user XD)

however, tigrex is a "fun armor". with it you do not need to worry about "looking for the monster" as it gives you eagle eye or something. then again it looks fugly.

ceanatur armor is quite good thanks to it's sharpness +1, which is much better than attack up large and reckless abandon +3. however you need to learn how to play safe with it. as the armor usually has penalties to defense or hp.

haha too much info for the new guy la. Just practice use sns first then slowly you will get the hang of it.
I started getting hang of the game using sns, then slowly into lance, then hammer, then the GREAT SWORD =D.
And now into gunlance because of wyvern fire.

Hi Derlin,
For GS user, is it worth it to switch to Los Soul instead of Ceanataur once unlock Felyne elder quest?
Reason I ask is coz of zennies and all the armor stones required to additionally upgrade the Los Soul...

But so hard to get sharpness+1 on ceanataur? Monoblos heart right? Or you need full set Ceanataur S?

Your question about GS -> i'll wait for the GS experts to answer for that. I'm a Hammer/Bow user. tongue.gif

Monoblos heart is not difficult to get. Probably 10 White monoblos kills should get you one. White monoblos are the easiest Blos to kill for me compared to Black Diablos so I just grind my way through.

It's worth while for the hunt coz the armour will last you a long time.

@Exsea's comment:

So true! I kept forgetting to block using GS/SNS... shakehead.gif shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

You don't have too much choice in low rank really.. unlike MH3 higher rank armors give better skills and slots. Just make 2/3 armors in low rank and quickly do key quests to proceed to another rank, come back to the unfinished ones later.

lol stick with ceanatur set with ceanatur gs.

artisan may be hard to get in the beginning since as u said, u need monoblos heart to create the jewel.

if you find farming hearts too difficult, you can try remobra set armor set. its one of my favorite armors, not too difficult to create gives

artisan
runner

but its a "multiclass" set so the armor is kinda low, have to be careful using this armor. this shouldnt be too much of a problem since gs users use hit and run tactics. artisan helps for the hit, while runner helps for the.. run.

I guess from my other games & MMOs, I'm reluctant to rush to high rank so quickly.
I'm making each and every weapon at the moment as well as armor for Blade/Gunner.

It is a new game to me tongue.gif so I wanna play to the fullest.
