QUOTE(carrera_gt @ Dec 7 2012, 03:27 PM) change to lower viscosity to get good FC, when you drive in town, stop and go...i've been using to many viscosity since the last 3 years on my car and bike...even a jaguar use 0w20 for their turbo car and change for every 15000km (for semi syn) there is nothing will harm your engine if you change to different viscosity.. sarjantulang |

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Dec 12 2012, 08:59 PM) I am more worried about the 20 grade, because that's what my engine is exposed for long term. got info...Jaguar is using 0w20 for their engine...still change at 15000km for semi and 24000km for fully syn...------------------- I quickly changed the engine oil, back to Liqui-Moly, tappet is quieter again. But I think I definitely have caused some wear from previous oil. sarjantulang |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jan 7 2013, 04:45 PM) not true. OCI is also depend on what is your engine oil base oil come from....which group and which group is the additive is coming from...also are the base oil are pure or not...if you're only +/- xw10 from manufacturer specifications, it should be ok and there should be no risk of engine harm/engine oil consumption (unless you got turbo/high rev or long distance for very long periods very frequently but that's a different story already) also LM semi syn MOS2 is 10w, unless you're on the full synthetic? also, regardless of good grade engine oil, one should service accordingly to car manufacturer/original specifications. eg: proton iswara is every 5k km, you put in rm300+ of full synthetic also, ideally you should oci at 5k km, not 10k or 20k km. as the amount of engine oil capacity/oil sump plays a role in OCI period as well. think of engine oil as water (filtered/longkang water as good/bad engine oil), and your engine/oil sump as a bucket. how much dirt (carbon/contaminants) your bucket can hold also depends on its size, while secondary factor would be the quality of your engine oil, obviously longkang water can hold shit worth of dirt because it is already dirty to begin with. nowadays, manufacturer of engine oil are tend to make their engine oil last longer...why??to protect the environment...the frequent you change, the more DIRT you give to earth...because engine oil is not like garbage that you can burn or simply bury it to the land... that's why some of the manufacturer is give the best for their engine oil and the result is, the engine oil that can last longer than normal... nowadays, there are so many engine oil that can last longer without harming the engine... i'm just change the oil filter every 5000km or 10000km...then a bit top-up...been doing that for more than a year now....the engine oil can last long, but the oil filter is not especially the cheap or OEM(not europe or america OEM OF)... i know this is kind contradict with others opinion, but guess what...let's save the environment... sarjantulang |

QUOTE(FatalitY @ Dec 3 2013, 01:05 PM) Kenapa wo? who says that??can i face to face with them??even Camry 2.4 use 5w30....wanna know about Subaru BRZ??0w20....nowadays even the big CC car use the 5w30, 10w30, 0w30, 0w20(hybrid mostly) and 5w20...Hmmm...I get mixed feedback actually, some say use 10/40 cuz its better for your engine, but coming to the viscosity some say too thick for your engine. Some say 10/30 not good cuz it does not really take care of your car. the point is, find the right engine oil...ORIGINAL, with higher VISCOSITY INDEX and FLASH POINT(find it on manufacturer website or brochure)....the higher those 2 value, the better the engine oil... this is example of what i tell u: ![]() see those Viscosity Index and Flash Point?? (i'm using this oil on my Saga BLM...0w30...16000km baru tukar eo lain... sarjantulang This post has been edited by sarjantulang: Dec 3 2013, 12:16 PM |

QUOTE(FatalitY @ Dec 3 2013, 02:30 PM) Urs is fully synthetic ma...Kelisa if use full syn wont be good cuz too light viscosity. If not Castrol, use LM ok ka? Or as like below Q8. But LM and Q8 quite exp rite? cuz I bought my Castrol mtec 95 buxx. Also if ure saying about flashpoint n viscosity, 10/40 seems higher compared to 15/40 except when the SuS is 100 f kelisa wont be good if using fully syn??who told u that??kinda funny actually...unless your engine is already got a problem like LEAKING, piston ring is wore, oil seal is leaking, than it will happen..again, that is not the oil factor...is the engine itself has to be repair... sarjantulang |

QUOTE(FatalitY @ Dec 3 2013, 03:47 PM) Thin oil ma...haha, thts y I wanna ask for feedbacks oso. Cuz many mechanic say no need fully syn. Semi is more thn good, some more 10/40 is what they say la. I take good care of my engine. Just did some repairs on the engine leakage a few months back. 700 gone wei... but worth it la. Now its all good and I actually changed my EO to the magnatec. Very smooth sound. But FC a little bit high cuz the guy told me its quite thick. even your manual saya 10w30...why opt for 10w40??like i say before, even a CAMRY 2.4 is using 5w30...not to mention Subaru BRZ and Toyota AE86(new one)...0w20... me also take care of my saga blm....even DIY service(changing engine oil, oil filter, air filter, plug and others)...using 0w30, 10w30, 15w40, 10w40, 5w40, 5w30...sometimes, mineral, semi syn, synthetic blend and fully syn... the synthetic oil is not create if it cant be use inside an engine...somemore, kelisa is only 850-1000cc only...using 10w40 will (not much, but some) degrade the FC...use 10w30 or 5w30 semi syn or synthetic blend if u really want semi syn... sarjantulang |

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Dec 4 2013, 11:18 AM) because the one told me/recommend me say that LM just bought the formula and produce as far as i know sir, most top brand engine oil has their own lab...from the lab, they produce all the viscosity grade we seen today...while voltronic has a lab and price surely voltronic more expensive not like MLM product(except for amsoil) that only HAVE the product, but they never know where it came from(mostly in malaysia)... price is subjective actually... sarjantulang |

QUOTE(takeshiru @ Dec 8 2013, 02:55 PM) This is just my 2cent about the range of oil that we use for our car....when i was reading it on the internet... The lower value indicate the viscosity of the oil during cold and higher value is viscosity during high temperature...reason why they use for example 0W30...is during cold country, during cold start to protect the parts or when using a brand new engine where the piston are still virgin...so its tighter... But as tear and wear begin pistons gets looser and thats when the mechanic will recommend 10/15W30 oils...this is regardless any brand there are... just like mr quazacolt said before, nothing harm using low viscous oil....my saga blm been using 0w30 before after clocking 100k km....superb...very smooth, good FC only the engine is quite noise when reach high RPM...but still i can pedal up to 140-150kmhJust my opinion...do correct me if my info is wrong... sarjantulang |
