review for Duron E Fully 5w40 in my Saga BLM....now reaching 10000km....still the engine not sluggish, smooth even at high speed(errr..my high speed at 120-140kmj only...hehe)
dont know when to change it...but already change the oil filter and put a slight top up...
the oil i'm using meant to Extended Drain Interval....
by using good TBN number of EO + good additive package, it will clean your engine and runs your engine smoother...and plus with pure base oil, the oil freshness will last longer..
and also find a good oil filter that can last longer...
my last UOA with synthetic blend engine oil(after more than 15000km), it's still has around 40% of freshness oil and still can be use...so again, depend on what brand of oil you're using...
Planning to go for eneos or mobil 1 0W-20 fully synthetic oil for my cr-z as i need the instant lubrication for the start/stop feature, anyone knows any shop which carries these 2 brands for a reasonable price?
as salam,
i believe you can get both of it from ENEOS Car Centre at AEON shopping complex...like at Bukit Tinggi, OU and others..
i won't recommend you to buy from sparepart coz this day, got so many fake oil with same brand...beware boss..
Petro-Canada Supreme Motor oil(Synthetic and Semi Syn) are all API SN approve....the Synthetic 5w30 are meets the GM Dexos-1 and also the Honda HTO-06 requirement....
then whats the best for semi syn? im using motul HTech 100v.. anything semi the best? how about sumo is it good?
try Petro Canada Supreme if you want....clean engine, good FC and furthermore very reliable engine oil....not to mention about the 99.9% pure base oil....
Now more and more car manufacturers specify xW30 as service fill.....Proton Campro series, all Peroduas, Toyota Avanza, Honda City, Kia Forte and Optima, Hyundai Elantra and Sonata in Thailand, Singapore, All Chevrolets (Dexos requirement), Peugeot prince engine series (turbo and non turbo) and many more have joined the bandwagon of xW30.... xW40 is more common for diesel engine oil used by trucks and buses....
yes..you're right sir.....moreover, the xw30 like the API SN are now come with turbocharger protection and resource conserving....
even the big one like Camry, Teana also using the xw30 oil.....
but there is no harm to choose others xw-ww....it depend on your budget and information....not all Malaysians are known better about engine oil...especially when most of them already servicing at "bawah pokok" workshop...
just realise that i haven't got change the manual gear oil...last change are last year october.....but the gear change are still smooth....now almost 35000km on that oil....
I checked on Google. Apparently its synthetic + dunno wat...so its semi? Any idea is this oil good?
AFAIK, all amsoil oil are 100% Synthetic aka Fully Syn(as we Malaysian calls)....their base oil are not from crude oil(petroleum) but are 100% produce in Laboratory using the group IV and Group V additive....
Amsoil is one of the very good oil..like the Redline eo.....but as always, everything good, we must pay the price...it is hard to find any amsoil oil for below than RM200/4liter
also, Amsoil claims that their oil can be use up to 15000miles(miles not kilometers..)...is it proven??i dont know about 15000miles, but one of my friend using it for 15000km already...still smooth and good...(but need to change the oil filter for 5000-7000km to prevent it from clogging)...
i cant read all review and post.. so in shortcut..pls recommend me good oil for my civic 8gen with budget around rm150+/-. thx u
Added on October 29, 2012, 9:51 pm but.. im used amsoil semi synt 10w-30(last service) cost me rm130.
for Civic, you can try Petro Canada Duron EXL with those badget....got 1 review from user...after 10000km, he open the head to check....the head area are very clean and no sludge...one of his friend using a different brand but service every 2000km, the head are dirty and lots of crust(kerak)...
i hear oil treatment is useless is it a fact or myth?
Oil Treatment / Engine Treatment = Additive
if the engine oil is very2 good, then no need for those engine/oil treatment....even if your eo is not good, it is better change the oil than topup the treatment..
not to specify any brand, but that is a type of engine oil, that give me smile when i use it...give me good protection without having to spend more....give smooth engine while accelerate....
i'm using it for more than 3 years now...very satisfy...even it is a mineral type engine oil...
i think some of you know what type of EO that i mean it...

Well, spending 800 on engine oil is kinda overdoing it la. I don't mind spending 150 on my engine though its a Kelisa, but with the few hundred extras, I could do some repairing work once a while or slowly collect for something else =)
yes...you got the point...a Rm800 for a engine oil for marhaen like me is not the choice
unless you want enter some competition like Drag, Circuit racing..then it will make sense...
no harm even you use the mineral base or semi syn if you can get a very good reputable brand, good viscosity index, good flash point, good additive package....
CNI Motobest 10-40W Semi Syn 10,000km. MYR 100.00 4L
Previously used Mobil 1 Full syn MYR 190.00 4L. I brought leftover to the CNI shop to test on the Falex machine. Mobil 1 surrender (smoking) after 2KG load on it whereas Motobest up to 3KG load still rotating with sound but no smoke.
My turbo kicks in faster and less blowby with motobest. Downside is becoz its a semi-syn oil you need to change it more frequently than full-syn oils.
FALEX machine??hahaha...
watch this video to know the truth about this machine...
