got this in tesco just now. Their promo. Full Sync for RM80 and Semi Sync for RM35. gonna use then in my Savvy and 1.5 wira carb next OC. Wonder how would it perform.

The only problem with the tesco fully synthetic oil is without the API rating. Do share with us the result.

I attach a comparison table for semisyn 10w40 engine oil of several reputable brands for everybody to refer.

I don't know what racing car using on their engine oil, but I know that normally racing car don't care about protect the engine to last longer or short, the major purpose they want is win the competition...

For a consumer, you can add in any oil you want, even recycle oil also can... Problem is you want to protect your engine or not... for a company usage car, they want a low price maintain on they car because they are talking business.... low price maintain is not talking about can use cheap cheap oil which not giving protection on engine, since engine damage also cost high price for repairing....

I am a sales & Service person in IT solution, my car run around the malaysia, no matter where I go, I am not allow my car to break down in the half way because of the engine oil, gear oil and so on... Sometimes I will go to those place without any phone signal... I need to guarantee save oil for my car.... Of course price for maintain is a very high issue for me because I service my car once a month because it runs 5K KM...

If you ask me to choose Branded product, it is expensive for me, I can't afford, Recycle oil? No way...

Using Tesco Semi syn Engine oil should be no problem, since it is really cheap....... Just choose the suitable grade of oil for your car is ok then.

Still the same advice, whatever oil you use, did they responsible for the oil or not... We cannot guarantee the oil is no problem, but think wisely, if the oil make harm your engine and even worse, who will going to responsible for it..... Now you buy it from tesco, who will you need to find in that condition.... So think wisely...

actually that is a huge misconception.
any engine damages to high performance engines can be huge and the cost can be very insane. not to mention, if damages occurs during a race, chances are you're out of the race for good.

in short, racing oil actually offers more protection than regular engine oils due to the high stress/high temperature environment they have to endure more so than regular consumer cars.

i am a server support admin. i tend to have midnight jobs. and i tend to speed like mad because midnight no traffic, and/or there could be some server urgent issues (well, my perfect excuse to speed).
you'd think wouldn't i need more protection when i bring my engine over 5-6k rev or even going 7k red lining huh?

I think those number is represent to Standard of a oil, so you can see that, all the number is not going too much different... At the final still have to say, all must be in Original Content of the bottle, else you can't get the benefit for your car.

I think those car on the road normally use Viscosity 40 oil, the different is just Fully, SEMI and Mineral and also the grade of the oil, Is SM or SN, I think Myvi at least need to use SM because it is design for Engine manufacture year 2010 or older engine. SL should be ok because it design for Engine Manufacture year 2004 or older. Since I don't know when did Myvi's Engine produce...

Don't you think that SL rated oil is too old oil? Better use SM and above since SL only suitable for engine by year 2004 and older... SM is for Engine by year 2010 and older, if you found SN, sure you can go for it..

Last time I use SL for 5 years, when I switch to SM, I feel big different on my car... Now going to try Grade SN... should be more powerfull I think.

And Mineral oil SL grade sell for RM 75 is too expensive I think... Magna only selling RM 60 in 20W50 SM grade.
Better use SEMI for Myvi, it is more stable for the oil.

I use Premium Mineral 5W 30 for 5 years, switch to 10W 40 SL Nxxx brand because of Engine keep reducing. Maybe the oil too thin... Just switch to 10W 40 SL feel that the car power reducing, maybe that's the meaning of you, Viscosity change from thinner to thicker, but is from Mineral to SEMI.... After that switch to Magna Brand 10W 40 SM grade, the power is coming back, even compare to 5W30, it is better.... I will going to try this Magna Brand SN Grade next service... Will giving the general feedback regarding that...

I choose this brand is because it is the cheapest compare to I use before and also I saw in the market, SEMI 10W40 SN/GF5. You won't get such grade in only RM 90 in the market... Except those fake oil or fake bottle.

Nasa got Mineral Oil in 5W30... I use it because it is cheap and it is worth for my car, I service it once a month as it reach 5K KM already.
