i'll use the questionnaire posted by mpyw earlier...

1. Budget? --> Within 1k (price with HDD also) ( willing to add buffer around 20%)
2. Do you need to play rmvb? --> Yes

3. Do you need to play bd.iso with full bd menu support? --> Yes
4. Do you need bitstream lossless HD-audio? --> Yes

5. Do you need 7 channel audio out? --> No..5.1 sufficient enough
6. You need portable or normal DVD size? --> DVD size players will do.

7. Do you need internal HDD or just a player? --> Internal will be better.

Help me to decide pls guys  notworthy.gif

4. Do you need bitstream lossless HD-audio? --> Yes

Don't talk about other features, if you really require the two features above , your options are more or less limited to player with Sigma 8642 chips like the HDX BD1 (around RM900 without HDD) or the Dune 3.0 (Higher Price).

Or maybe you could wait another month or two to see what Realtek new Chips have to offer.

And not forgetting the Popcorn Hour C200 as suggested by Raykazansky, but I am not sure about the full specs. If I am not mistaken it also uses the Sigma 864* series chip so features should be similar with the Sigma 8642. I thnk I also recall someone advertising for sale recently, not sure if bulk sale.

I am not really sure if Popcorn C200 really being sold here, I might be mistaken.

But BD1 and Dune 3.0 can be bought locally. Search out the Lowyat.net sales section.

Also for feedback on the two players, refer to the threads opened in this Home Entertainmant section. Generally the BD1 is cheaper but it lacks a mature Firmware. The Dune 3.0 is more mature but you also have to pay a higher price. The Dune 3.0 has 2 models. The higher Prime model is around RM1.5K or less (don't know the exact current price now) but it has a built-in Blu-ray drive included.

"future proof"? hmm.gif  there is no such thing buddy , I read from somewhere today that apple is working on developing newer codec , that is replacing the current popular H.264 sweat.gif
Just get a cheap 1073DD+ player, it fufills your requirements except for 3. BD Java/menu

His requirement not only BD Java/Menu but also bitstream HD Audio (TrueHD and DTS-MA , not downmix). Realtek 1073DD can do that?

Don't recommend unless it can bitstream now. I already told him before to wait another month to see about the new Realtek chips. Their current FW still no bitstream yet. If they cheat before they can cheat again.
