Hi, just a simple question- in task manager & maxis connection manager I always see the network utilization average around 35kbps. But in real usage, why i only get ~5kbps? Where is the rest 30kbps gone? ate by windows? I'm pretty sure my windows is clean from junks... Or just the "network utilization" statistic unreliable?

Unlikely, since I disabled all unwanted windows services (and there no more svchosts listed in tasks). Well guess it just showing the link speed on the connection manager, rather than actual data transmit speed. (yeah i'm slightly out of town and my speed is pretty low... but this Postpaid broadband with dedicated modem, is slower than i connect Prepaid broadband through my handphone?! oh gosh... doh.gif )

Strange situation. Is it reception problem? If i can get that speed consistently in this kind of location, that will be great hmm.gif (hutan)

gosh that super fast. I only get 350KByte/s even in the middle of Kuching city, and 100KByte/s now in kampung... why here is slower than Semenanjung?

er, think I just hit my quota... cry.gif But I saw something I don't understand:

My package is RM48 1.5Gb per month. This is just my 2nd month using it. I paid RM100 up front when I register, and the seller told me the RM100 will brought forward as monthly charge for 2 months, so I dont need to pay for the first 2 months.

But now when I read this bill, the current charge is RM134.06?? What's this?? Isn't this is just my 2nd month, total charge should be only RM96, with RM4 remaining and will bring forward to next month?? rclxub.gif Why suddenly Maxis charge me RM34.06?? What is that for?? And where is the other RM48 went to?? rclxub.gif

That statement was dated 28/11. The current charge is RM184.06????!!!!!!!! What the F**K? rclxub.gif

OK, at least my bill problem settled (they simply cancel the strange RM100 charge, but hope later I go to pay bill they don't cakap yang lain pulak...). Now there goes the usual quota problem... If on my "regular usage style", I going to burn RM56 evvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveryday... (thas RM28 1GB extra x2). Sigh, really hope there other kind of solutions grr.....

(well there is, as long as I don't turn off my connection for the whole month I can enjoy unlimited data......................................... which I not sure if it works everytime. Sometime Maxis system do have someking of "leaking". But the fact is, I just need to turn off my connection/laptop sometime... grr...)

Signal problem? Sometime if I stuck like that, I just unplug the modem, wait a while and plug again, usually that works for me.

Well, why don't you go bomb (or bother/contact/annoy whatever you call it) Maxis for a while.

Speed get throttled is so damn ........ f**k... sad, sigh, mad, angry, crazy, !!! almost no words to describe... damn. I gonna live the rest of the month with super super super super super super snail snail snail snail snail speed now... mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

If they don't throttle the speed with all these FUP stuff, everyone's happy. I get 3Mbps in town, 1Mbps in jungle still thats fine. But cut the speed below 150Kbps (which is actually hardly responsive at all), is really p.i.t.a.

A responsive 150Kbps won't be as hurt... Why the net just super not responsive after kena throttle?

If your area have weaker 3G signal better use WCDMA Only, to force 3G signal, so it won't jump to GPRS just because GPRS signal is better.

HSDPA is auto, depend on your signal. In my case I just use WCDMA Only, and my signal is keep jumping between WCDAM-HSDPA all the time, since I'm not in city =3

Well thats not really a big deal, the big problem now is - I HIT THE DAMN QUOTA 3RD TIME THIS MONTH ALREADY!! (this month's bill is over RM100, 2x Extra 1GB purchase -.- wtf... I need a damn telephone cable... only if TM want to link one to this kind of remote area, after being stolen twice.)

Well you can only change the setting while you are not connected. Are you try to do it when you are connected? thats why it is greyed out and cannot change.

Actually 0.89Mb download is not as nice as I thought, are you in town/city? I can even get 1Mb+ in kampung area.

So, the E1552 is capped on 3.2Mbps? No wonder I can't exceed that speed while in city... Is there any firmware upgrade thing to fix it? (i not actually need it anyway, 3.2Mbps is already enough)

Added on December 27, 2010, 3:39 pmBtw, is it possible that I put my handphone's SimCard into this broadband modem (I can switch the card to Broadband mode, and subscribe prepaid RM25, 2GB per week). Will that works? At least I get 8GB by paying RM100... (for postpaid it's 6GB for RM98...)

Damn stone-aged plans...

Kampung area can get HSDPA signal already good enough! As long as you don't stuck on GPRS. 0.96Mbps = 120KByte/s, good enough to do alot of things! (just, as long as you don't hit the quota...)

Well... Seriously Maxis is the only good enough wireless telco in Kuching area. Celcom as usual not recommended, i also not sure why. Digi seems to be not so stable as some of my friends reported. Redtone Wimax seems so silent these time, dunno why, probably service is as bad as P1 @ Semenanjung got?

TM still win of course due to their unlimited download, but speed is not as fast as Maxis 3G, unless if you get a really-functioning-4Mbps-line.

If only Maxis raise the quota to something like 50GB/100GB... Sigh... Anyway, Maxis seems to be uber active these times around, anywhere is their banner and billboard, almost every bus-stops and every light-poles... wth... They play it big, but the net is still not as satisfying anyway.

Well, if someone can answer this one... I will stop using postpaid broadband after the contract ends:

I used prepaid RM25 almost a year through my handphone... and handphone speed just capped on ~400Kbps... duh hehe...

I jsut wonder what time actually Maxis reset monthly data quota? THe billing data of 28th every month, or depend on what day you subscribe? (for example if I subscribe on 5th, so it reset every 5th day of the month?)

Nvm, just noticed they reset the quota today morning... So, don't need to suffer slow speed for this week (yeah problem will comes next week...) mad.gif

Most likely you just got signal problem, we're hitting max speed easily in town, I even get 1Mbps out of town. Well, depend on area.

Luckily Maxis fixed my 3G signal yesterday night, but still feels kinda laggy, it's still raining...

@abudi- their system is made like that, regardless you using postpaid broadband or prepaid broadband you will get a "welcome" maxis page. Well if you on desktop computer, just close the page when it been poped out.

@modernwarfare2- did you run on 3G signal (blue or light-blue LED color)? even if the signal is so-so, you should be getting pretty decent speed though.
