QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jun 8 2010, 04:06 PM) I suggest ISO 400~800, flash mode you like (auto or manual, depends on your skill), and of course widest aperture. I would use manual mode on 1/50 or 1/60s shutter. ISO800 for D3000 may be quite noisy though, and i think he just wants to see the girls, not interested in the background so don't need to bump up that high ISO right?

QUOTE(fabianz03 @ Jun 8 2010, 05:17 PM) wide aperture means wat ? low f value ? f1.8, f2.8 is considered wide/large.. f11, f14 is considered small.. aperture number = 1/xx (e.g 1/1.8, 1/2.8, 1/11, 1/14) so the smaller the xx number, the higher the aperture number.. QUOTE(ongdandy @ Jun 8 2010, 04:25 PM) i' m only using standard kit lens.. min also f3.5 - 5.6. dunno can take or not. yeah use manual mode, use 18mm and f/3.5 so you can get the widest aperture, with flash it is still ok. you can try 1/60s 18mm f/3.5 and ISO200 - 800 if you still feel it's too dark. but at 18mm you'll be quite close to the girls la, which is what you want righttttt? I see, about ongdandy's case... Although he doesn't have a f1.8 lens (just like I do) but with a flash , no need to boost ISO right ? coz can fire the flash and get as much light as possible...

1/30s? Too risky, go with something faster unless you are sure your subjects won't be moving at all.
