Seems that people are still confuse about the backlight technology, LED and LCD are 2 different technology to begin with, LED belong to backlight technology, LCD is the panel technology (what you're looking at).
Traditional LCD is lighten up using CCFL (the long white tube bulb), it generate heats thus consume much power compare to LED of which produce little to no heat at all. For LCD, currently only TN and VA panel are backlight by LED, TN are first panel backlighted by LED. LED can produce better brightness but does not end up with better contrast, like the marketing gimmick of 8M:1 contrast ratio, etc. If you heard about LED kills eyes, then think at people who're using CRT (fat fat monitor) way back then, those lights that produce enough UV to cause cancer -.-;;. If it's too bright then adjust the brightness down to a comfortable level that suits you. |

QUOTE(KTCY @ Nov 8 2010, 03:24 PM) Answered your own question? What I think is, this is pretty much normal unless you goes for U2410 or much expensive panel which the quality is much guaranteed.Otherwise think of it like cheap product, nothing good can come out of cheap product, if you're just typical user and not into professional graphic, I think that's OK. I, personally will go for this model as it's the cheapest and most affordable for movie and slight gaming. (If anyone can buy mine first LOL) QUOTE(limhongwoon @ Nov 8 2010, 03:51 PM) I believe this is a TN panel though Dell didn't specifically state that.So I also assume you're referring to IPS panel? If these 2 statements true, then definitely IPS win big time. But the smallest IPS that Dell currently has is 2209WA which is 22" with resolution 1680x1050 (screen scale ratio of 16:10). Its latest siblings which carry resolution of 1920x1080 is U2311H (screen scale ratio of 16:9) if you're looking at exact Full HD size monitor. QUOTE(KTCY @ Nov 8 2010, 03:58 PM) Well, I'm more into photo editing. Of course I understand cheap thing no good Umm, I have saw some reviews the problem rely on the panel itself and no, you can't correct them even with calibration tool as calibration apply on the whole screen, and the problem is 2 sides with different color temperature, that's unfortunately if you receive such product but Dell can allow refund (not sure full or not) if it's done within 14 days? (please correct me)But just wondering if I'm having my own monitor calibration tools eg. Spyder express, will it change ? So you might consider up your budget a little bit for U2410, but that's just luck if you ask me, some forums that I found also report similar problem with U2410 and U2710... Haven heard of this issue, didn't know LCD can "melt" by this bare temperature.
Maybe can use fan to blow directly at the back on it to preserve cooler operation temperature? Notice the 2nd picture still has slight "watery" effect, your ceiling dripping? Since this is warrant by premium panel, should be able to get 1-1 exchange. |

QUOTE(ian84 @ Nov 10 2010, 09:45 AM) Hi my first post here, 24" dot pixels is slightly larger, you probably won't notice it, plus with that screen size, I can't tell the different between them 2 except for the slightly higher height (for the almost same model).I need suggestion.. now i am torn between 23" and 24" monitor, both at 1920 x 1080. pixel density : 23" Pixel Density: 9176 pixels / sq. in. 24" Pixel Density: 8428 pixels / sq. in = almost same as my current 20" (1600 x900) Do 23" will clearly look crispier (sharper) than 24" one from the same distance point of view or the difference will hardly be noticed ? Its hard to find shop that displays these big LCD around here Taman U.. so Please share if you have experience about this. Thx Now if you have budget, and won't mind something larger, just go for 24", market shows that 23" and 24" has quite a different in price for that 1" different and making the 23" sounds much value. |

QUOTE(8tvt @ Nov 12 2010, 09:01 AM) Given the positive review and lots of recommendation in this thread, this monitor is reason why most people goes to IPS, not just cheap but has the premium panel features that most professional and ultrasharp series have to offer.I, myself still need to sell off my ****** and ****** monitor before I can goes to it, definitely want to try out what others feels about it, can't wait... |

QUOTE(8tvt @ Nov 12 2010, 10:58 AM) how come ur saying ips is the best while our mate here asking the best for gaming? Did I imply IPS is the best? And when I say most people, it's from this thread, not including any other users out there, and I didn't say all as well.and infact that lg is using non ips which i think having the less ms for the fast response.. and also have LED which i reckon would be good on power consumption.. sometimes suggesting something need to look on the overall view.. we cannot simply say IPS is better for everything.. Most (not all, again) people has realize the IPS gives them much more eye candy experience and didn't see any ghosting result from the slower response rate as well. After all the suggestion and attempt to lure those users to take IPS, did all of them accept? No, so it's up to the users themselves, I barely suggesting it base on my opinion. Well, I apologize if my sentence does confuse you, hopefully it won't confuse other users as well, but overall I still support Dell IPS U2311H, best IMHO. |

QUOTE(wanted551 @ Nov 16 2010, 12:15 PM) Hi, new guy here. I'm planning to buy a HD monitor for my ps3. Which one is better DELL U2311H or Acer S231HL? QUOTE(yuhhaur @ Nov 16 2010, 04:19 PM) I would like to recommend it but if you're not so fond of going over a huge FAQ just to find out how to connect your PS3 to U2311H then by all means go with Acer S231HL or whatever model that has HDMI port ready, also you won't be headache by the not so guarantee to work cable as well (rare issue).QUOTE(LOOOOOOL @ Nov 16 2010, 05:06 PM) Send a PM to JREnterprise (click to send a PM)He should be able to offer you a decent price, you can ask him regarding anything for the Dell monitors product. His Dell monitor selling page is here. AFAIK, the last selling price that I saw is RM1,6xx. |

QUOTE(HiT-AbLe @ Nov 18 2010, 10:11 PM) Not-so-wet cloth will do the job fine, but best use micro-fiber fabric to preserve the surface i.e. normal cloth might scratch it.Can also use glass cleaning liquid, spray on the cloth and wipe it gently. |
