QUOTE(diehard1979 @ Aug 17 2010, 04:19 PM) DVI is old school but currently some new LCD still not even come with DVI cable. Both the monitor and and manufacturer being cheap... cutting cost anyway possible... even cables (that may cost them a few RM)

QUOTE(gto87 @ Aug 17 2010, 04:30 PM) Is it wise to change from s2409w to the dell 23" ips panel considering that I love to play FPS and Racing games a lot plus I watch alot of Full HD movies.
The reason I asked is because, I'm worried that the 8ms response time gonna effect my viewing. Ghosting sucks but since I'm moving from 5ms to 8 ms, will I really notice the difference?
I read a lot reviews, some say they notice the difference but the other were saying the exact opposite. Human eyes and brains differ from one person to the next..... If your eyesight and your brain register superfast... you maybe annoyed... Best advise is to test it out with your own eyes, get a friend's/family or return/refund the monitor within a week (for Dell?) This post has been edited by BeastX: Aug 17 2010, 06:02 PM

QUOTE(kl911 @ Aug 17 2010, 10:39 PM) May I ask, except from Dell got ips,any other brand? Added on August 17, 2010, 10:42 pmhi mr beastx, let's say I bought the dell 23 inches with no hdmi,I buy the dvi-hdmi to my xbox..and also my CPU..how much is the switch for me to switch among my xbox and pc? Many thanks DVI/HDMI switch (Many selectable input from your PCs/X-box/Astro/PS3/etc.., one output to your monitor) .... cost around RM 60 to RM100 A cheap way to by-pass a switch, is to get a DVI extender wire (M to F), so you don't have to go behind your monitor to switch devices. QUOTE(kl911 @ Aug 19 2010, 09:07 AM) then the out put is the dvi to,say Dell 23 inches ips? HDMI..... but you can get a RM10 HDMI to DVI adapter..... or get a DVI switch.... with this you're probably more flexible with DVI or HDMI and not be limited (used adapters) should the need arise. With that switch... you get 5 inputs from 1 DVI on the monitor. This post has been edited by BeastX: Aug 19 2010, 12:09 PM

QUOTE(razkal @ Aug 22 2010, 10:47 AM) Thanks for the reply.
Actually, i'm aware that the monitor doesnt have hdmi just display port and dvi by looking at the review site and spec.
What i've been wondering is whether there's anybody using display port cable to connect their monitor to their graphic card.
Is there any advantage of using it instead of DVI>HDMI cable? On this monitor.... no difference between DP or HDMI/DVI..... on higher end panels (10-bit) DP will provide additional bandwidth for more colour info (12 bit per channel ++), however not many GC support this. There is display limitation (colour bit rate) on Windows too. This post has been edited by BeastX: Aug 23 2010, 05:16 AM

QUOTE(bugijun @ Aug 25 2010, 06:26 AM) ic..if i got the one with gradient meaning it is defective and can be return right?
thanks Depends.... Gradient caused by bad firmware from Dell can warrant a return or an exchange. For example the gradient defect on 2407wfp version A00... was simply too glaring. Gradient due to panel itself (being a cheaper panel/technology).... it's hard to warrant an exchange/return

QUOTE(taufiqtahir @ Aug 29 2010, 04:37 AM) well,if u open the dell's website,u can see the difference in the specs at the btm rite? brightness, contrass and response time oso better.. and there's also more connectivity ports.. and one of the main points i think is the resolution.. the 16:10.. Main point being the different panel type.... one E-IPS (value)... the other 10bit panel cream-of-the-crop IPS panel... used for pro-monitors (though U2410 can be considered mid-range at best) Added on August 30, 2010, 8:32 amQUOTE(raist86 @ Aug 29 2010, 12:51 AM) bro this one confirm one ka? cos one hdmi to dvi cable quite ex leh.. dun wan spend that kind of money den still cannot use.. damm cacat one lo.. Surely you can dig out RM15 or less for a HDMI to DVI adapter (use the DVI cable that comes with the monitor). This post has been edited by BeastX: Aug 30 2010, 08:32 AM

QUOTE(OlgaC4 @ Aug 30 2010, 09:22 AM) The Dell U2410 with 6ms response time can see ghosting?
IPS panel vs LED??? siapa menang Most human cannot detect below 12ms (in most circumstances),,,,, If you have a hyperactive brain.... supper fast nerves firing and replenishing constantly, than congrats, Superhuman/Superman. Tiada yang menang... IPS is panel type/technology.... LED is use for lighting the panel regardless of Panel type. There are LED for large score boards.... OLED.... displays.
