Inter prepare Salgado bid

Inter are now in pole position to sign Michel Salgado from Real Madrid, according to reports in Italy.

The Spaniard was being heavily linked with a January move to Juventus, but the Nerazzurri are the new favourites to land the defender.

Zanetti close to comeback

Javier Zanetti could be back in action for Inter sooner than expected as he continues his speedy recovery from injury.

The Argentine international was set to be sidelined for up to three months after sustaining a thigh strain in Week 1.

However, the right-back has been making extraordinary progress since picking up the injury against Treviso on August 28.

Inter 5 - 0 Livorno

thats a very convincing win there. They did it without Adriano.

its juz the matter they can maintain this kind of form or not.

unlucky for Materazzi as he accidently flicked the ball in. and i just didn't undertand why Mancini decided not to play Adriano from the beginning.. coz with the absence of Martins as well, the attack never really looked threatening with just Julio Cruz up front. perhaps they wanted to prepare for the Udinese match.. and if that's the case, then there's point of qualifying and competing in Europe coz all the hardworks had been wasted. or maybe they just underestimated Porto and thought they would still win it without Adriano.

Kily Gonzalez out until January

Inter will be without Argentine winger Kily Gonzalez until the New Year because of another injury.

The 31-year-old picked up a problem in the 1-0 win over Uruguay last week and he's not expected to be back until January.

The former Valencia midfielder returned from South America on Sunday and underwent tests this evening.

Kily was diagnosed with an injury to the adductor longus muscle in his right leg and has already begun a rehabilitation programme.

Mancio handed two-game ban

Inter boss Roberto Mancini and star midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron have both been handed two-match bans on Thursday.

The tactician was suspended for use of foul and abusive language towards referee Roberto Rosetti following last night's 3-2 loss to Roma.

Mancio will ironically not be allowed to sit on the bench against former clubs Sampdoria and Lazio.

Veron - who also played for those sides - will miss the same games in the aftermath of his fracas, and subsequent dismissal, with Francesco Totti.

Inter held Ballack talks - report

Bayern Munich's Michael Ballack is close to becoming an Inter player next season, according to reports in Italy.

Last Wednesday, whilst Bayern were preparing for their Champions League match against Juventus, a delegation from Inter are believed to have met with Bayern representatives over a possible move for the player.

Inter sporting director Gabriele Oriali had lunch with Ballack's agent Michael Becker and Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the hills surrounding Turin to discuss the midfielder's situation.

I think it would be a good signing for Inter if they can manage to get Ballack.. they need someone with flair and vision to create chances..
