Inter party crashed as Roma inflict 1st loss ROME, April 18 (Reuters) - Inter Milan missed the chance to clinch the Serie A title after they were beaten 3-1 by second-placed AS Roma on Wednesday. Inter's hopes of sealing their second successive crown were dashed as late second-half goals from Francesco Totti and Marco Cassetti sealed Roma's win at the San Siro. It was Inter's first league defeat of the season. Simone Perrotta had fired Roma ahead before Marco Materazzi levelled from the penalty spot. Inter remain on 81 points, 13 ahead of Roma with six matches to play. http://soccernet-akamai.espn.go.com/news/s...=422868&cc=4716 |

but should be remember, next season juve is back for win the scudetto,
ahahhahaa Inter Milan wins its 15th Serie A title after beating Siena 2-1 MILAN, Italy (AP) - Inter Milan won its 15th Serie A title Sunday after beating Siena 2-1. Marco Materazzi scored two goals to help Inter move 16 points clear of second-place AS Roma, which lost at Atalanta 2-1. Materazzi scored from close range in the 18th minute and converted a penalty in the 60th. Paolo Negro headed in Siena's goal in the 21st. "The team has had an extraordinary season," Inter coach Roberto Mancini said. "To win five games from the end is a fantastic achievement. I am delighted for all Inter fans." Mancini also announced that he had agreed to a four-year contract extension through 2011, with an option for another year. The triumph matched Torino (1948) and Fiorentina (1956) for the league record of wrapping up the title with five games remaining and was only the third time Inter had won consecutive championships. The Milan team also won back-to-back titles in 1953-54 and 1965-66 - although last year's trophy was awarded by default following the Italian match-fixing scandal. "We have won without stealing," Inter president and owner Massimo Moratti said. "We are all really happy. But my first thought is for Giacinto Facchetti. This championship has the imprint of his generosity and honesty." The former Inter player and president died in September. Inter has 84 points, followed by Roma with 68, Lazio with 57, Milan with 56, and Empoli with 50. "I have been waiting a long time for this moment and made a lot of sacrifices," said Inter captain Javier Zanetti, who won his first title on the field since joining the club in 1995. "The Inter family deserves this joy. Our only objective has been to do well for Inter and our triumph has arrived for this reason." Inter could have won the title on Wednesday but lost to Roma 3-1. "They deserve the title," Roma coach Luciano Spalletti said. "They have a great team and it is fair that they celebrate." http://www.metronews.ca/storyCP.aspx?pg=./R042219AU.xml |

I've Never Left A Club Without Winning - Ibrahimovic Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to relish Inter's Scudetto, and took pride over how he has been successful at every club. I've Never Left A Club Without Winning - Ibrahimovic ![]() Asked if he felt the intensity and the history after winning the Scudetto with Inter, he said: "It's not a question of feeling it: we are a part of history. "This was more than any Scudetto, considering how we won it and because it confirms the last 18 years. "And when I say I'm happy for the others as well, I'm also referring to who plays with Inter and had not won for a long time: Zanetti, Cordoba, Materazzi." Ibrahimovic and Cruz stepped aside allowing Materazzi to take the decisive penalty against Siena. "We talked, I told him he had to take it and I also told Cruz: 'Marco should take it'," the Swede revealed. "It was enough to look him in the face to understand how badly he wanted to win: he would never have missed." Asked about the fact that he has five titles at 25, he said: "That's what history says. Wherever I went, I left a mark. "I never leave a team without winning something, otherwise I would not be a champion: you are a champion only if you win and that's why I haven't stopped, even though I played the last three games after taking an injection." http://goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=288539 |

Serie A Report: Inter Celebrate Title With Victory At the San Siro "party", Empoli were the victims as Inter ran out easy winners (3-1) thanks to goals from Cruz, Recoba, and Stankovic. Serie A Report: Inter Celebrate Title With Victory ![]() Inter played with their usual 4-3-1-2 system with Stankovic behind strikers Recoba and Cruz, while Empoli played a 4-4-2 with Saudati and Pozzi up front. Recoba had one of his inspired evenings and provided the spark for the first goal, as he freed up Cambiasso with an insightful pass, and the midfielder touched the ball off his heel towards Cruz, who scored the match opener in the 27th minute. A few minutes later the Uruguayan playmaker came up with a great shot from outside the area, but it finished on the post, and the goalkeeper robbed the rebound from Figo in the nick of time (30'). An interesting first half, where Empoli were not afraid to go forward and leave spaces open for Inter, finished 1-0 to the home side. In the second half, Empoli found an equaliser out of nothing in the 57th minute as Saudati fired a low, hard shot from just outside the area, which went beat Julio Cesar on his right. However, on Inter earned a corner on their very next move. Recoba stepped up and sent it into the net straight to make it 2-1 (59') for the Nerazzurri (the goalkeeper was certainly at fault). A minute later there was a third goal for, Inter as Stankovic was launched by Cambiasso and beat Bassi with a precise, angled shot (60'). In the 71st there was a great chance as Figo found himself alone in front of goal, but shot well over the bar. Inter climb to 87 points, while Empoli, who offered good resistance in this match, drop to 7th place with 50 points. http://goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=291879 |

The most important thing for us is to play well and reward the club on the pitch." Compatriot and frellow midfielder Olivier Davourt, meanwhile, savoured the way the fans responded.Fellow mi "It's wonderful to see our fans celebrate," the French midfielder said. Moratti: Figo Represents Class The Inter President hailed the Portuguese midfielder and declared that he will try all he can in order to hold the player with the Nerazzurri for at least another season. Moratti: Figo Represents Class ![]() Luis Figo already announced that he will be leaving Inter at the end of the current season, but Massimo Moratti is intentioned on trying to convince both him and Alvaro Recoba to stay with the Nerazzurri. "I think that with 'El Chino' we can talk and see what his intentions are. However, Figo, even though I did not understand why he took this decision, will not be easily replaceable because he represents class." In the meantime Roberto Mancini confirmed that Inter will seek to win all three points at Messina in order to make as many points as possible by the end of the season. "It will not be a foregone match at all. After all, they will play with tranquillity because they have nothing to lose. "And it will also be very hot, but our objective does not change: it will be that of doing well." http://goal.com/en/articolo.aspx?contenutoid=293009 do you think better he go or better he still stay with inter??? |

Vieira Wants To End Career At Inter The French midfielder revealed that he wants to play for the Nerazzurri till he decides to hang up his boots. Vieira Wants To End Career At Inter Patrick Vieira confessed his love for Inter by declaring to the English tabloid, 'The Sun', that he does not want a return to the Premier League, but instead he wants to remain in Milan up till the end of his career. "I don't see a return in the Premier League in my future. I'm becoming old and I'm very happy here at Inter. For this reason, I will remain in Milan till the end of my career." Vieira has spent most of the latter part of this season on the sidelines due to an injury which kept him out of the squad for the most crucial part of this year. However, the former Arsenal player is expected to be available for Inter's away game to Messina where he will most likely start from the bench then come in as a second half substitute. http://goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=294658 |

Hernán A Hermit As Crespo Hopes Chelsea Forget Him It's long been something that the player has stated publicly, but Argentine number 9 Hernán Crespo has explained that he's so eager to stay with Internazionale that he's hoping that Mourinho and co. will forget him... Hernán A Hermit As Crespo Hopes Chelsea Forget Him "I hope Chelsea forget to recall me," the player let slip about his owners, probably not the best thing to do if he was really trying to keep a low profile, but it's hardly as if Abramovich got so wealthy by letting multimillion-dollar assets slip his mind. Landing back in Milan - but this time in blue instead of red - the new Nerazzurri signed a two-year loan last summer, but the Blues have the right to fish him back to the Stamford Bridge pond if they should desire. It seems unlikely, even if it is theoretically possible, as Crespo has been doing everything short of taking out billboard, TV and radio adverts with him dancing and juggling with big neon lights flashing "Crespo doesn't want a return to the Premiership". "I just need to find a good hideout and sit out the purchase option. That way the loan will automatically be extended for another year," commented the Albiceleste in mock jocular tones, evidently praying to whatever Gods he can that he won't have to return to London. He was, however, resigned to the cold, hard acts of the matter. "The case is crystal clear, Chelsea have the option until the end of May. All they have to do is send a fax to Inter," he explained with a fateful air. Chelsea wanted to be able to count on Crespo as they will face forward shortage next season as Drogba and Kalou have international commitments that'll take them away from Chelsea, although Luca Toni is a new name that has been bandied around recently. http://goal.com/en/articolo.aspx?contenutoid=295817 what do you all think??better or not if he still with the club??? |
