morning peak office hour from JB to SG is quite ok, probably need 30 minutes to clear the causeway but from Sg to JB during the 'crazy' hour 6pm to 8pm can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hour(s).
*
Is there anyone commute via public transport through/flow from JB/SG daily either via Tuas or Woodlands?

How long does it takes to commute one way from:
1.Woodlands
2.Tuas

Tuas - 15 minutes from Gelang Patah - CW-3 public transport , RM4/way straight to Jurong East Station or u can drop by at the bus station nearby Tuas
*
There is a bus from Gelang Patah straight to Jurong East then eh. We do not need to board the bus at Bukit Indah?

Speaking about Gelang Patah, what are the prices of properties over there. Seems a lot of Expat working in Singapore stays there. I will be visiting that place this coming weekend...hehehe

Ok, I got a question rite here.

Any chance that I want to apply for PR but I dont want to contribute CPF.

Means I want a full pay. The employer portion I dont mind to go into CPF savings.

I am asking this because I am not staying long here, perhaps just 5 years and I do not intend to acquire a HDB unit. I wanted to apply for PR because it makes job hops easier as PR is more easier to apply for jobs compare to non-PR.
*
Unfortunately not. I read that it is mandatory to contribute to the CPF.

The condo am staying, 3 room, 2 bath room, quite spacious as well, is about 110K - 130K

Also got double story house, i think between 150K -200K as well.
*
You mean the Condo/Houses in Gelang Patah and not Singapore, right?

Oops sorry, did not see your last posting. Is there a shortcut or something like that to get to JB? Just curious, any amenities around Gelang Patah such as Jusco or Tesco?

Hi all,

Just a few questions. When you first look for accomodation in SG, how do you carry your deposit+advance+commission to SG?

Cash, Cheque or other alternative?

Isit true that, when you see a place and you like, you immediately need to pay those dep+adv+comm to book the place?

notworthy.gif

Also i think another forumer ask this question as well, do we need to provide the WP/EP photocopies to the agent?
What other documents?
*
What I did last time was to carry load of cash.. unfortunately. Just get ready 1 Month Deposit + First Month Rent + 1/2 Month Rent to Agent. For example, if you room is SGD400, then bring along SGD1000. Normally it's cash dealing as far as i know.

From my experience, if you like a place, and if you dont book it first, then someone else might come and grab it. It's normally based on first come first serve basis.

Yeah I did give my EP photocopies to the agent so that they can help to submit the forms, etc for processses with the HDB. Nevertheless I believe you might get your Pass a while longer if you just got a job in SG.

I should thank you for sharing with me the information. Hahaha.. i am planning to move back to Johor. However, would prefer to look at something nearer to Tuas rather than Woodlands.

Actually, only PRs from West Malaysia would be interested. All other PRs are allowed to fully withdraw their CPF monies if they give up their PR status.
*
You mean even if we from West Malaysia withdrew our PR, we will not be able to withdraw our CPF monies? What about when we reach 55?

Thanks a lot Awesome, but if i havent get my EP yet?
Any other docs they need?
Well, I think if you have the provisional EPass Web printout, then you can show them first. This is what I did. Maybe others might may have different documents to show.

DBS/POSB is like maybank in Singapore, they got the most ATM and can do most things in Singapore via NETS.
but even they have the most ATM in Singapore (3 machine on most MRT station). the queue is also the longest.
you can try UOB or OCBC. but if u want foreign bank. Citibank has the most ATM (I am using this after getting fed up with queue on DBS ATM).
*
It also depends on your convenience. Some companies may even have a certain Bank's ATM in their building. Of course, due to this, it is the most convenient to open an account with that bank.

Care to share wat bad experience you had with the agents?

Btw, how do you know if the owner is indeed owner of the house and can rent it to u? do u ask them to show any docs?
*
So far I have no problem with the agent. The only thing is that you will have to be careful with them. Some do recommend you some really weird place and pressure you to sign up. Giving reason if you don't a lot of people are waiting, etc. Also I am not sure if they do jack up the price of the place or not. I have a friend whose agent ask him to sign for 2 years!!!! so the agent can get a grand nice juicy one month fees from both side!

silly question about renting. Could I bargain the price with them? In certain countries, the chance to bargain a bit low.
*
You can try to bargain. I see a lot of forummers here did some bargaining. :-). No harm trying your luck right.

hello all,

which mobile plan u all subsribe to (whether singtel/m1/starhub)

generally which one?

- $19.xx / $25.xx / $48.xx etc...
- why do u choose this plan?
*
I have the Singtel SGD39 plan (100mins + 12GB Data) as I use the data to communicate with my family back home either via Skype or MSN. So I think you need to find the plan that suites your usage.
