QUOTE(r1v3r @ Jul 9 2010, 01:27 AM) I earn that kind of salary before when I was single, bus ride start from 30 cent and people were using pager. Still can give mom RM1k/ month. Before I start work, I survived with much less than S$1k Those time are memmorable. Wow r1v3r, you must have been in the work force for a long long long long time eh. Pager days are in the 90s!

QUOTE(mrportable @ Jul 9 2010, 04:03 PM) no other solution? the HR is more troublesome than me...he is going on leave soon and request me to go Singapore to give him white card info while i still have work in malaysia.... I kept explaining my situation but he doesn't seem to get the problem at all. I guess the way he sees it with the "I don't care; it's your problem not mine" attitude then eh. Yeah just be careful with the dates. They really drill into the minute details when checking your information.

QUOTE(Aloong @ Jul 13 2010, 02:51 PM) why "or" instead of "and". use all 3 if posible. but © is risky/costly way lar I agree. Use all three ways + friends. Nevertheless, coming to search job in Singapore without one would be costly. Unless you are in an industry that is in great demand, it will take some time.

QUOTE(cheeyt @ Jul 13 2010, 04:33 PM) I am looking for accounting job. Maybe what I can suggest for you to do as well. Go to all the accounting firm website in SG. Deposit your resume there as well. Other than that, put your resume up for headhunter to search as well. That might get you moving. Do join Linked too and it might help. If you are coming down here, you will need to stay in a hotel room. That might cost you money too unless u have friends or relatives staying here. Alternatively, you can stay in Johor but it will be the same result as staying in KL (assuming you are). So before you decide to quit your job and come down here to search, do make sure you have a budget for it. Also, find out how much is it to rent a hotel room and then see how long you can last before u get a job. If you got the job beginning of the month, you will have to wait for another 3 to 4 weeks before your pay comes in.

Just curious on a PR question. If I were to get a PR and my family stays in Malaysia (only once a while casual visits to SG), can I be a PR and my family remains as non-PR?

QUOTE(dokidoki @ Jul 20 2010, 05:00 PM) bus 707 is bus 707...this bus company call 707...that's why they call it 707 bus...haha bus normally have to take 5hrs to reach KL right? It depends actually. I suspect that Friday night will be longer. Actually it really depends on the checkpoint actually. If fast, you can actually get through the checkpoint really fast and reach within 5 hours. If checkpoint si beh long, then it will takes longer than that. Never took the bus 707 before. Hehehe... thought it's some secret code. haha....

[quote=Aloong,Jul 21 2010, 11:05 AM] WHat's the diff with other types of TT?? The bank still charges for the TT rite? Why u nid to transfer via ur fren? dun u have a bank a/c in SG and a bank a/c in M'sia?
I think he transfer the money to his friend's account here in SG (She is saving in SGD), then She in Malaysia transfer RM to his account in Malaysia. So no TT Charges liao.

QUOTE(dokidoki @ Jul 21 2010, 11:57 AM) u can find the answer in previous few pages posted by me....no need access card..what u need is m'sia passport...i use it twice when i go back kl thru changi and when come back from kl at woodland ktm checkpoint.. I used it a couple of times in Tuas Checkpoint. It can be use. Nevertheless, sometime the line for the auto checkpoint has more queue and longer time to process. Funny. Those that are having problems usually are the ones holding Singapore passport. hehe...

QUOTE(seantang @ Jul 21 2010, 09:59 PM) No idea leh. Never used giro for income tax. Not sure how much interest you can save though, given the low savings interest rates. Unless of course your tax payable is huge Normally for the first year if I do not work for more than 183 days, I will kena 15% tax, right? Is there anyway to appeal for this to lower that? Just curious.

QUOTE(seantang @ Jul 21 2010, 11:43 PM) What is the reason for the appeal? No reason actually. Just started my work back in mid-June. So it's less than 183 days unfortunatley. So kena 15% tax?

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Jul 22 2010, 11:13 AM) wow 15%. that's heavy Yes, it's rather a heavy tax for the first year. Fortunately, it's only 1/2 a year tax. phew.... nevertheless, money is money. So not sure if they have any way to appeal. Normally when is the time to file tax in Singapore? Is it in April as well just like good ol' Malaysia?

Checked with MoM and here is part of their response: 1) For holders of the Long Term Pass Card To notify MOM Work Pass Division using the Request Form for Amendment of Personal Particulars. 2) For holders of the laminated Disembarkation/Embarkation Card (Green Card) Employment Pass Holders transfer their Employment Pass endorsements to the new travel document. These documents must be submitted to MOM Work Pass Division for the transfer: - Disembarkation/Embarkation card (Green Card); and - Employment Pass holder's old and new travel documents or passports For more information, you may visit MOM?s website at: http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/pas...traveldocchange
