hey fellas
i've been a silent reader recently and seeing how lively this thread is growing, i suppose i might as well jump on the bandwagon
i really want to be a part of this community but my shy, introverted attitude has been putting me off this idea. however hearing the term 'bedroom dj' and my passion (addiction, too) in music makes me feel brave enough to write this post
so i'd like to ask everyone here to help me on these things:
- what are the most basic tools that i will need to start dj-ing? i need to know this so i can set up a budget.
- for those who are used to the industry, how do you react to the stereotype thinking other people have about being a dj?
i am a bit interested with the production stuff too but for a greenhorn like me i think its wise for me to get used to everything first, right?

1. A pair of headphones. - This is the most important. Don't go around borrowing peoples headphones. This is where you should start.
2. Decide what you're going to play"
> Controller DJ - get a basic controller suitable for you. There's tonnes in the market depending on how much you're willing to spend.
> Software DJ - usually those playing serato or traktor in the club. You'd probably need to get the software and the sound card.
> Normal - Some thumbdrives and maybe some CDs

1. We DJ for what we love to do (and also for the $$$) Theres always gonna be haterss, but there's also going to be people to loves your music. Just dont suck and don't get cocky just because you can "DJ". If you love what you do, do it for you. Don't do things or quit just because of what others say about you. We were all noobs once and we practice and work our way up

Don't think so much bout what others think.

1. Find out which DAW is suitable for you, what type of sound you want to produce, watch ALOT of youtube videos, prepare your sounds, find some tracks similar to your sound, try to reproduce those tracks in your own way. Keep practicing.
Hope it helps. All the best! anything not sure can just ask
