am i a bad CC user since i always paid full amount a week before due date?

and is that also one of the reason why they didnt increase my CL anymore???
*
Normally a prudent card member will have clean credit record and usually get auto/home loan easier than the ones with bad record. However, it still depends on the net worth value. If the bank found out you have damn a lot of assets, they'll be damn happy to lend u money.
If u really want to have higher CL, u can write to the bank with latest income statement attached together.

QUOTE(gorengnazi @ Aug 4 2010, 08:55 PM)
after reading these posts , I have come to understand that the determination of the CL is solely done by the bank based your assets.

But if that is the case , how is it that we can choose to apply for Regular , GOld or Platinum credit card ?

If the bank decides say I am worthy of only a 4k CL , then if i apply for the gold or platinum will the reconsider my CL ? obviously I am  interested in the CL , and i am thinking whether its worth it to pay the extra annual fees for those card ?

thanks smile.gif
*
Whether you are eligible for Classic, Gold or Platinum, the decision is up to the bank.
When I was earning 2k monthly, Citibank already offered me Gold Card which anual income requirement was supposed to be RM36k. Despite extra credit limit, I never spend out of budget.

I once tried to apply for HSBC Gold card. I knew I was not eligible yet but still I ticked GOLD. The application ended up unreplied.

niel doesn't want the Premier MasterCard. He just wants a regular credit card but HSBC declined that request.
What was the conventional credit card that you requested ? The VISA Platinum ? Because someone i know told his relationship manager that he doesn't want the Premier MasterCard and told HSBC to give him the VISA Platinum instead. His request was rejected too.
The HSBC Premier sticker allows them to park their cars for free in certain HSBC branches.

I see! Now I know.

In this case, you need to ask for a card replacement. Most bank will charge you RM50 for this.
*
Direct Access charges RM10 for first replacement, RM50 for second. The third time is subject to the bank's decision.

icic. thx for the reply.I want to know does it have any issue when not using the real name shown on your credit card??
*
It is no issue.
When we fill up the application form, there's a column asking for the name u want to appear on the card.

ATM, is there any CC provider offer free/ waiver on government tax?
*
Yes, there is, but with T&C.
The T&C can be "Spend at least RMXXX within XX days to claim your RM50 bonus", "Credit card tax is only waived for the first year" etc.

U can put Paris Hilton, Bruce Lee, Barack Obama, Hu Jin-tao, even "1Malaysia".. thumbup.gif
Different name from the one in ur NRIC/Passport could bring you trouble. Better stick to ori.

well, i applied for DA Plat early last yr and they gave me gold instead
so when i received the cards, i told them to get lost tongue.gif

so i would say it depends on the bank

Added on August 5, 2010, 1:19 am

as long as it matches most of it, it's still fine
*
DA has made a smart decision last year. The bank issued me a new Platinum Visa with expiry date 12/10 to replace the existing Gold Visa which was expiring in Jan2010, therefore avoided from being charged RM50 tax too early. Damn smart laugh.gif

my annual income are more than what they need...haiz, i need a card urgent. i think i will go for citibank next
can i knw which bank reward point doesn't expired?? or any others card to recommend??

The first name that comes up to my mind is CITIBANK.

QUOTE(hye @ Aug 5 2010, 12:09 PM)
You should have also knew that HSBC cc is the hardest to apply. Not necessarily you qualify, you will definitely get it.
Many folks here complained about this but we have mentioned repeatedly that with HSBC the general qualifying rules does not apply.
*
My first card was HSBC Classic which was applied in Midvalley during Mega Sale Carnival. Then I wanted to apply for HSBC Amanah cc (for cash rebate), but failed. Second and third attempt failed as well.

QUOTE(changjie83 @ Aug 5 2010, 01:54 PM)
hello,

i received a call yesterday from bank to check some personal info, telling me my credit application is in process, but i didn't apply from that bank. do it mean i got high chances to getting a cc from that bank sooner?
*
Do you mind to reveal the number?

Chemistry thank you for you suggestion , Ok its true Im a total noob at this , The CC would be mostly for online transactions and for fuel and utilities , occasional meals in good restaurants with my clients and girlfriends.. but thats about it...
*
Wanted to suggest you Citibank card, but repayment could be a trouble.
Advantage of Citibank card is that you can pay bills (TNB, TM, STREAMYX, P1WIMAX, ASTRO, mobile prepaid reload etc) now and repay later, giving you greater cash flow.

Second suggestion is CIMB Petronas Mastercard. Zero annual fee. 5% cash rebate at GIANT/TESCO/GUARDIAN, 2% at Petronas, 0.5% for other retail transactions. That could save you quite some money if you do groceries shopping frequently. Another plus point is easy repayment, as CIMB Bank is almost everywhere. Weakness is CANNOT PAY BILLS ONLINE.

2% rebate at all gas stations ? Is this a new promotion ? I thought only the CIMB Petronas MasterCard gives you 2% rebate and it is applicable at Petronas stations only.

I guess the best petrol card is Citibank Cash back platinum. 5% cash back at all petrol stations.

May I know which CC offers the best rebate or reward points for ALL TYPES OF SPENDING other than Amex gold cc ?
*
CIMB Mastercard's 5% cash rebate at GIANT/TESCO/GUARDIAN on weekends is quite useful for LADIES.

QUOTE(gorengnazi @ Aug 6 2010, 12:26 AM)
This just occurred to me , Lets say for example I applied to several banks for their cc's , I do this because since Im a first timer the not that rich , the likelihood of me getting rejected is greater , so to increase my chances I apply to several of them at once.

But lets say by the stroke of fortune i get accepted say from 5 banks , but now I dont want so many , I just want one or two.

If the bank issues the credit card , and i go to them and tell them , "ok.. the thing is.. my mamak stall was infested with rats and i had to shut it down , so i dont think i can risk having any more outstanding balances , therefore I really dont need it" ,

Will they bank have a grudge against me and blacklist me or something ?

Also what is the proper way of cancelling a cc , Should I just pay the outstanding balances , and then just stop using the CC , or should I call the bank and tell them , please purge my accounts ?
*
If the card requires activation before u can use it, then just don't activate it, you're safe.

Yes. You can and they will not blacklist you. Just that you won't be able to reapply another credit card from them for the next six months. However, you'll still have to pay for the RM50 credit tax for each of the cards approved.

Yes, generic CIMB MC's give 2% rebate at all petrol stations. If I'm not mistaken, promotion is until end of the year.

No, the card that earns 2% rebate at all gas stations is Direct Access Mastercard.
