for hsbc premier customer, if there's no income document provided, you will get 30k or 40k even though you have way more than the required minimum balance to be their premier customer.
If you have something like RM500k of time deposit with them but no other proof of income, they still can be quite generous with the credit limit given smile.gif

QUOTE(Centurion Lee @ Jun 18 2010, 11:25 PM)
compared with my CIMB WORLD MasterCard, at the time it was launched last year, the minimum CL CIMB offered is RM100K based on the minimum income of RM240K. That's why when EON Bank launched the VISA Signature Card, minimum CL only RM40K is very low compare with CIMB or SCB on their " beyond platinum " card. If EON Bank starts giving min RM40K CL to the public, what kind of standard are we looking at " beyond platinum" cards ? Later on, someone will claim to have much lower limit on the Visa Signature.

I suppose they just want to get as many people as possible to apply for the card hence the lower requirement/standard. The government service tax on credit card doesn't help either.

QUOTE(Centurion Lee @ Jun 18 2010, 11:25 PM)
Surprisingly, nowadays banks like SCB is downgrading their Platinum Card status to Classic Card status by giving low CL RM1K to RM3K. It seems that SCB are so desperate in getting customers.

Won't be too surprised if classic card disappear from the Malaysian market completely in the next few years just as it already happened in Singapore. Anyway, this trend started in USA many years ago. Even my cousin who is barely 20 years old already has a VISA Platinum credit card from Citibank laugh.gif

QUOTE(Centurion Lee @ Jun 20 2010, 10:09 AM)
There's no Platinum Priority Line (03-2383 1010) indicated in this letter. Only the normal 24hr Citiphone Banking (03-2383 0000) for the Cash Back Platinum members to call in. When I try to call the automated Platinum Priority Line, only my other two normal VISA and MasterCard Platinum account is listed in the voiced automated service but not for this cash back account.

Three cards from Citibank ? Wow ! You're a big Citibank fan laugh.gif

QUOTE(Centurion Lee @ Jun 20 2010, 10:09 AM)
Further I noticed, cash back will be automatically credited into one's account when the accumulated cash back for a particular month reaches RM50. Otherwise, the cash back will be carried forward to the following month. And I was not informed earlier by the Citi salesperson when applying the card. I don't experience this hassle on my other rebate cards.
I did see this clause in their website. It is a tactic very well known to Citigroup. Many of its units such as Citibank NA and Citibank Singapore have been practicing this for a very long time.

Visa Infinite equivalent to World Mastercard.
How about Visa Signature? Which Mastercard is equivalent to Visa Signature?
No. VISA Signature is the equivalent of World MasterCard. VISA Infinite on the other hand is the equivalent of World MasterCard Elite.

QUOTE(JJBerry @ Jun 21 2010, 03:20 PM)
Visa Infinite should be equivalent with World Mastercard Elite(which not valid yet in M'sia)
But I think it is going to launch soon, we shall wait and see........
LOL ! You beat me to it by 2 minutes approx. Anyway, don't think World MasterCard Elite will be launched in Malaysia anytime soon.

No. It is not exactly new. HSBC USA offers it. It is a card partnered with the upscale department store, Saks Fifth Avenue.

So, does this mean that in Malaysia market, Visa infinite still the highest class card?
Correct. By the way, besides HSBC USA, Citibank NA and BMO (Bank of Montreal) also offer the card. The one issued by Citibank NA is an airline card partnered with American Airlines which its users use to accumulate American Airlines AAdvantage miles.

What is your opinion of those Platinum Card partnered with other organization? I mean in Malaysia market.
I think all those "partnership" platinum card's requirement are lower that the generic platinum card.  tongue.gif
Except for Enrich-CIMB card.  tongue.gif
Most of their requirements are indeed lower than the generic cards. Anyway, if one particular partnered card benefits me a lot, then yes. I will definitely jump into it without a second thought.

So have you apply for the EonBank VS already? tongue.gif
No. I haven't and i don't intend to. I do however plan to apply for the Citibank Cash Back Platinum VISA once my current credit card reaches 1 year in a few months time. I have done the calculations and i really can save a lot of money using it biggrin.gif

QUOTE(celicaizpower @ Jun 21 2010, 04:32 PM)
I'm planning to request for a Platinum card from Maybank and/or Citibank.

Does anyone here knows their yearly subscription charges?

RM550 and RM600 respectively. Anyway, Maybank does offer two VISA Platinum credit cards that are free for life. Both are the Petronas VISA card.

QUOTE(celicaizpower @ Jun 21 2010, 04:32 PM)
any FREE for life offers by any banks? what is the minimum salary to be eligible for this type of card?
CIMB Bank Platinum MasterCard. Can apply using an existing Platinum card from any other financial institutions that you've been holding for at least one year or you can provide your 3-month payslip and the minimum income is RM80,000/pa.

For Citibank Platinum credit card, the minimum income required is RM100,000/pa.

For Maybank Platinum credit card, the minimum income required is RM120,000/pa

Petronas Visa Card + Petronas Visa Card?
No. Was talking about the conventional Maybank Petronas VISA Platinum and Maybank Ikhwan Petronas VISA Platinum issued by Maybank Islamic.

QUOTE(celicaizpower @ Jun 21 2010, 05:05 PM)
Yup, currently a MBB Petronas Gold card holder... but the charges is astronomical!!! 18% OMG!

May be you can switch to Alliance Bank Younique MasterCard ? The interest is much lower at 9%, if i'm not mistaken.

PS:oh, i heard some ppl said if you make cash advance, it will affected you future loan application, they said cash advance is directly show us to bank that we have financial problem...
don know true or not ?
i wonder ccris will show out cash advance transaction ?? shocking.gif
I believe the CCRIS records will only be flagged when you miss a payment. Basically it means that as long as you pay the bank promptly, there shouldn't be a problem with your CCRIS records.

hi guys, i just got my 3rd month salary and i'm planning to get 1 credit card for convenience purpose
according to a friend who work in bank, she need my offer letter, 3 months pay slip, and epf statement  , and of course IC photocopy

Actually, a photocopy of your 3 months payslips and IC are everything you need to submit to the bank along with the application form.

QUOTE(darude87 @ Jun 22 2010, 04:42 PM)
i would like to know which bank is easier to get approval? as i know once got rejected, i need to wait bout few months cooling period before i can get approval from any other banks rite?
No. Lets use EON Bank as an example. Assume that your application was rejected by EON Bank, you can only reapply for a EON Bank credit card 6-month later. However, you can still apply for any credit cards from any other banks.

QUOTE(dr2k3 @ Jun 25 2010, 10:17 AM)
annual fee MAYBE possible but usually they won't cause it cost them money to issue credit card

It is almost a sure thing that credit card annual fee can be easily waived nowadays. As a matter of fact, nobody is paying any credit card annual fee anymore.

QUOTE(dr2k3 @ Jun 25 2010, 10:17 AM)
unless u spend alot on their card (they earn money) they will probably waive it to keep you as customer then you can cancel the card once they waive the anual fee
QUOTE(dr2k3 @ Jun 25 2010, 10:56 AM)
they do that so that they can keep your friend as customer....your friend probably spend alot on his/her card...they dont increase your credit limit if he/she don't use it

you didn't use the card...they don't have profit....they probably wont waive for you even you threaten to cancel the card

you are not much of a good customer to them
Not really. There are many who do not use their cards frequently but still can easily get the annual fee waived.
