ooh really ? I was considering ANF too earlier but the analysis not as nice as Avo or Art, so..
Let me go read up on Addiction.. why is it not good long-term ah ? =D

I really wonder why the guy super pushing eukanuba.. I asked about Blackwood and Taste of the Wild also say tak payah ?  rclxub.gif Cos isn't TotW and BW more exp  sweat.gif
*
Totw will definately be no. 1 of your choice as it's being rated as 5 star kibbles and furthermore, it's grain free. But if you could get Atermis, it's considered good also but not grain free.

Protein is not that high likewise in Orijen or Evo. Currently feeding my dog Evo Chicken and Turkey kibbles with Evo Chicken and Turkey wet food as topping. For treat I go for Evo Herring treat biscuit too. I am an Evo fans laugh.gif

Try changing to a good dog food from the start. Pedigree is the worst food everrrrr to give to a dog.
Learn how to read the food label. Otherwise, jes go to www.dogfoodadvisor.com and choose kibbles that are at least 3 stars and above.
FYI, Pedigree get 1 star and tat is because there is no lower than 1.

If i'm not mistaken, pedigree has too much fillers. If u put water in it, they tend to expand. Alpo isn't too bad, u can give it dry or wet. I had read somewhere that dog's food should consist of 2different type of protein and vege/fruits. Thats best for them.

Alpo is crap. Learn to read the label ppl! Dun give wrong judgement to others. Ground yellow corn, corn germ meal, meat and bone meal as first 3 ingredient. Tell me which one do u think is not filler and good?? doh.gif

And..where the heck u read this?? sweat.gif

Hi all,

I am new here, just read this topic and found it's interesting, learn lots here. I just adopt a new buddy a week ago, mix maltese, and she is currently 3 months age. My friend told me to feed her with Royal Canin which she have a good result on her Poodle. The result taking Royal Canin on my buddy is quite good, her poo is quite solid, not much and not smelly compare with BORCH (Sample from pet shop) which is smelly, soft and more poo, not sure with the fur yet as this is still a short time to judge. But recently, i found that she like to scratch her body, and keep biting her paw, but when i search on the place she bites/scratchs, i can't find anything(red dots, fleas, or any sign), is that a sign of allergic? kindly advise..

Between, i haven't seen anyone here discuss on Royal Canin kibbles, let me show the ingredient and please help on this, is this also cause of my buddy scratching / biting her paw?..

Lets look at the ingredient itself. Dehyrated poulty meat and animal fats. Since there’s no mention of a specific animal, this item could come from almost anywhere… restaurant grease, slaughterhouse waste, diseased cattle… even pets. Not a very good kibbles i would say.

The most common cause of allergic is chicken, egg, beef, dairy, corn, soy etc. I would suggest you to feed you dog a better quality dog food or try hyppoallergenic dog food. Example of some good kibbles are Evo, Orijen, Acana, Innova and many more.

Please don't get my reply wrong, I apologize if i bring u to another meaning..i dint mean either which one is good or bad, i just confuse btwn those ingredients..i did mention earlier, i am still new, i need help on choosing better kibble for my buddy..i am a pet lover, i also want her to be healthy, and wish i could give her whatever good for her..and, may i know what is 'carb'?

Hmm.. since when i reply u? Lol.. Not me, certainly not me.. biggrin.gif

i heard that better don't feed the puppy the high protein kibble if they are not active (means those train dogs, security dogs) because this will cause a sickness on them in future, right? So between the kibbles you intro, which one is hyppoallergenic dog food? or maybe any other brand you may advise for my buddy? her previous owner feed her ANF kibble, and i assume this Royal Canine was a good kibble as the price about RM90(east m'sia) for a pack for 3 KG..

First and foremost, i am not an expert in dogfood but just that i happen to research quite a bit in dog food. Lets talk bout high protein. High protein should be avoided for dogs with kidney disease. For higher protein food, you should feed lesser for your dog. Example 1.5cup instead of usual 2cup. Make sure he/she have a good exersice too. Most of the dog or puppy could tolerate high protein and rest assured most of the good quality kibbles meet AAFCO nutrient profiles for all life stages. In other words, any dog food suitable for “all life stages” is also suitable for puppies, too. Jes becareful for the calsium ratio for LBD. Since yours breed is small/medium size, you shouldnt worry much. flex.gif

For hyppoallergic dog food, there is a few good brand in the market. I would suggest California Natural or Acana Lamb and apple fomula. Both are good kibbles. If you got money to burn, then you may also try Evo Herring, Acana Pasifica or Orijen Six Fishes which is using fish as their main ingredient and it's grain free. Some dog are also allergic to grain hence, it's good to feed grain free dog food. Anyway, it's very hard to say if your dog is food allergic or enviroment allergic. He might have flea or ticks, allergic to grass, dermatitis and many more. Check with your vet and if it's confirm food allergic, try elimination game. Stop feeding any treat etc and only feed him your current dog food. If withing a week, he is still scratch here and there, try switching to other food as mention above. Remember to gradually introducing the new food. FYI, my dog is also allergic and i still havent found the answer yet. I am feeding Evo turkey and chicken and will change to Acana Pacifisca one finish my 13.5kg bag of food. I am giving him Evo herring treat bar as a treat. cool2.gif

ANF in fact i will said it's a better kibbles than Royal Canin. Royal Canin is too high promoted by Vet and same goes to Science Plan etc. Believe me, it's bad food especially those D/D diet, F/D or whatever Diet food. Learn to read dog food label. The first 4 ingredient is the major one which at least 2 ingredient from here need to contain meat. Either Chicken, turkey, lamb, duck, fish etc. Also find those kibbles that contain chelated mineral or probiotic for better absorbtion of mineral. icon_rolleyes.gif

Carb refering to carbohydrates. To make it simple, the lower the better. In fact, zero is required in dog food. Dog dont need barley, corn, wheat or watever it is. But then u will ask, then why manufacturer put barley or what into my dog food if it's not required? Well simple. When putting carb food into it, it will raise the level of protein and fat to make you believe that this dog food contain more meat. sweat.gif When choosing dog food, it makes good sense to favor products lower in carbohydrates. tongue.gif

Do note that some article are taken from dogfoodadvisor. cool2.gif

i have two pedigree dogs at home. one is a male labrador and another one is golden retriever and its a female. i used to feed them with eukanuba but it was really bad because they were shredding so much and their fur structure was bad as well. they were not getting the proper balanced food(according to my vet). now i am feeding them with ROYAL CANINE. its the best so far although its a bit pricey than all other food. their fur has stopped dropping so much and their fur coating is so much better. their stool is much more different when i used to feed them with eukanuba. i have learn that food for dogs is really important.  once a week i boil some chicken and mix with the biscuit for them and also i boil some corn and some vegetables. this is once a week. they are much more healthy right now. but my lab needs a lot attention cause he is full of energy!!haha. i need to walk him everyday to keep him healthy and fit as well. but taking two dogs for walk was difficult at first. i guess they need proper attention, love and care. spending time with them will make them happy!!!

Think again... Learn to read the label and understand more on kibbles.

Yes, what Jchong said is correct. It is important that u learn to read the label first before telling ppl royal canin is the best kibbles. What I see in royal canin is just filler with very limited amount of meat.

Adrian, what is the size of the treats and where to get / price ? I'm using Avoderm Baked treats for my boy now and he enjoys them, but they are huge (about 6.5 X 2.5 cm) and hard to divide =/ Smells super nice though..
*
The size is about 20-50cent coint. Some are round, some are triangle shapes. Got it from Petslover or Fur and Paws at Kota Kemuning. RM19 per packet.

Anyway, this is my Snoopy new toy, Kong Wobblers! rclxms.gif
Now i feed him dinner using this Kong Wobbles. Very nice to see he works hard to get his food and he seems interesting too. laugh.gif

@Rhika, the video i posted is Snoopy with his Kong Wobbler wat.. I also have Kong Classic for several months and it's a great product. Now i feed him his night meal time using this Wobbler and he seems quite interested playing with this Wobbler. I read it somewhere in the net saying that dog will feel satisfied when they work for their food. tongue.gif

@jchong... I am not sure Petlovers got it or not as i cant find it anywhere in Petslover. I contacted their dealer who is Progenis in Puchong as i saw the advertisent at Petster magazine and drop an email to them. I was told they didnt actually sell on shelf but on order. They will sent to Pet center near ur place and you buy it from there. FYI, the price for large wobbler that i bought is Rm75 before less.
