This is related to feminism issue
A discrimination of the female gender to be honest that such job are tough and women are not born biologically to fit into such harsh environment. That is not necessary true actually and what we see today is define by us, the society. There's not law that governs this 'wimminz go into bio while minz into physic' thing.

stereotyping have been stamped on majority of the people's brain everywhere
for example nurse is a female frield, engineering is a male field, early childhood education is a female field and physic is a male field ... so on and so forth
what we really need is to expose them since early age everysingle possibility they can have when they grow up and if they study hard

its just the different 'logic' between male and female.. totally different..like in a relationship....when girl says yes..it means no..and it opposite to what boy meant when they say yes... plus.. this species aint drive a car like a man do...i hate women driver

For all my time in EE, my old college had 2 girls out of 50+ guys. Real batang fest.
Over here, 3 out of hundred plus in EE, a few in civil i guess. 0 in postgrad dept for EE Power subdivision. There quite are a few in Comp Eng, but i guess that's not my neck of the woods. Comp Eng has quite a few female lecs and i guess there's the lack of dirt and grime that makes it more appealing.
I was taught my eng math, topology design and basic EE by 2 female lecs during my dip years. Great teachers they were. They went into teaching because they didn't like fieldwork i guess, which in a male dominated environment involves mostly strippers, sexist jokes, doing really stupid shit with company cars, oogling at chicks and so on.

Less female pilots but zillions of air stewardess, funny isn't it?
sometimes we cant blame the world being sexist and discriminate females on some fields, but the reality is just too harsh to be handled by females.
After u've been into it, then u will know why that specific world shouldn't have females involved.
