Have to give credit to Chelsea. They sure know how to murder teams early at home. We would do well to watch and learn from them that art.

We've played some sexy football tonight. Shame about the result in the other game though.

Obertan is French lah. No need work permit. Tosic wants assurance of being a squad player at least. Can't blame him since he doesn't even get a look in for most of his time here. Not sure if he can get it. But if he's patient for another season or two, with Giggs getting older, a spot will open up. He's a handly little player. As a left winger he won't cut it, but play him centrally in an advanced role or on the right cutting in, he might do some damage.

QUOTE(gabLhowe @ May 10 2010, 01:02 AM)
Nah, this season had been a great performance for us imho.

This year's start had been really awesome. In terms of team, we lost 2 out of our 3 holy trinities, Ronaldo, our 30+ goal scorer moved on and our last goal messiah, Tevez had gone to our rivals. By the start, we had already a lot of people writing us off. Being able to challenge and push the wire all the way to the last game of the season has been exceptional.

Throughout the season, our defense has been tattered and torned apart. Flecther played at RB and Carrick played at CD at times, yet our defense boasted being one of the best records in the season.

We got our best start of the season, we got our Godlike Rooney back, we got our 2nd Portugese Wizard Nani finally revealing his real self and we've got our best scottish player back to his best maurauding self. I'm damn hell happy with the team this season, and I remain proud of my team for this season.

As for Chelsea winning the title, let's just say that they performed better than us. The best team probably won this season and we can only blame us for dropping points when we really needed to. A 100% record against the big 4 really isn't easy and under Carlo they've really look formidable at times, with the best coming out of Drogba, Anelka, Malouda and even Kalou (who would have seen that hattrick coming?).

Worthy champions? Hell yea. Let's just be good sportspersons and congrat the winners. We'll be back again next season. As the same fight for every season every time.
*
The team always had the ability to perform even without Ronaldo and Tevez. Most people believed it was those two that brought so much to the side forgetting the rock solid defence, the dependable and solid midfield and of course Rooney and the other striking options. Evra said it best that the star at United is the team.

Injuries haven't been kind for us this season. But to be fair to Chelsea and the others, they have their own problems with the same issues too.

In the CL, on another night, it could have been Bommel that got a 2nd yellow instead of Rafael and seeing us in the final instead of Bayern. And what if the linesman didn't pocket some money in the OT game against Chelsea? tongue.gif It's a fine line between success and failure. We just got on the wrong side on those two occasions. But that doesn't hide the fact that we perform poorly throughout the season. The away game against Bayern, and that performance against Chelsea at home.. never expected us to play that badly. Ultimately that was our downfall on both occasions. Not to mention the other games we've lost and dropped points in the league. We definitely could and should have been played better.

The future is still bright. Keep the same core, and hopefully see some improvements in the likes of Rafael, Evans, Anderson, Gibson, Macheda, Welbeck and the others, we'll be just as strong if not better. Anderson especially need to step up big time. Scholes won't last too much longer. And Gibson really should offer more than just his shooting boots.

What is a playmaker? With the way we play most of the time, not sure we have room for one anyways.

One difficult headers and a couple of shots which got blocked by the defenders.
The only 'fan' here who would be happy to see us dropped points so he can come in and spout shit. Welcome.

It will still be Berba. tongue.gif
Don't think we'll get another striker in. And no other strikers we have are better than him currently. Macheda showed today he's still not quite there yet. Same for Gibson in midfield. They will be ready in time.

Every single stoppage time is referee assisted, unless you can't count. Not surprising though it that was the case. laugh.gif

QUOTE(mhyug @ May 10 2010, 06:00 PM)
just a little question tho:

why do almost all of our fans in lyn here wants to a major overhaul just for the reason we lost the title by virtue of a point???i cant understand it.i mean yes we lost and it feels like crap but have we gone 6 or more seasons with out a trophy??NO!!

so why do we need almost a whole squad when fergie always do and has done is build from the inside, buy 1 or 2 and lead us to success.the current crop we have is good, we just need 1 or 2 additions only.our midfield is still one of the best and same goes to defense.our striking option might need a boost but not a major one.

im not against us fans discussing transfers and etc but come on la, x kan sampai whole 5/6 players mau tukar.thats looking for doom and it has never been the united way(open back the pages of history if dah lupa).

just see what fergie says:
*
We can't expect Scholes and Giggs to perform consistently at their age. With Carrick being in a slump, we could do with another addition in midfield. Just one though. EPL/UEFA will employ a squad limit of 25 players next season right? Still have high hopes over Ando. We must remember how young he is and where Fletcher was at the same stage. If he does step up, and Gibson proving himself useful(aside from just kicking the ball hard), we won't have to look for another midfielder for a while.

Yeah we're a bit light upfront regarding that sure thing aside from Rooney to get goals, but with that Mexican kid joining in, not to mention the likes of Diouf, Macheda and Welbeck around, it would be hard to see us sign another striker, a big one at that. That's it as far as strikers goes. We'll do with what we have.

Our CL result, like SAF said have been one of the most disappointing stuff ever. We were by far the better side on that night, but we didn't go through. Really frustrating every time I think about it. That's football for you. Getting to the final again for the 3rd time in a row would have been something, no disrespect to Lyon. ArrghHh.

To be fair, Berbatov should have performed better. And his goal scoring return is bad for a striker at a club like us. He should get 20 at least. But for some reason he's just not able to improve on that. And he's been a bit unlucky too, although most of the others are because he's a shit header of the ball. But, he's not been that bad. Yes his finishing have let him and us down, but his all round game actually is pretty good. Involved in most of our attacking plays. He was struggling all season too with that knee injury. That didn't help matters. And he's struggling massively with that price tag on his head. But selling him won't change anything. We won't get much from selling him now which is a no no right now with our debt situation.

And if people are screaming for RVN, he's not that type of a player. SAF doesn't expect that kind of goal return. Just see where he was deployed last season and see the comments SAF made about him a few months back saying 15 goals would be a good return from him. But Berbatov need to step up definitely. 20 goals minimum. 25 would be great. We'll see how it goes. I just can't see us getting another striker with all the options we have. SAF is satisfied with what he has unless someone like Benzema come on the market again.

Added on May 14, 2010, 11:44 pmLooks like Foster is on his way to Birmingham.. shame. Thought he had it in him. Guess with him being pretty inexperience(doesn't play much in his career before we bought him and loan him to Watford) in his career, along with that injury he had after his Watford loan spell ended, playing for us was just too much for him to handle. Good shot stopper, but we need more than that. Looks like we would be looking for a new 3rd GK. With VDS being in another season, there's no chance we would get another 1st choice capable GK in.

QUOTE(roti-terbakar @ May 14 2010, 11:52 PM)
Even when the Judas left us for our noisy neighbour, and CR left us for his childhood club, almost all newspapers and websites where at the beginning of the season, hoping that Rooney will step up and score around 20 goals. Then 25. Then 30.

This is Rooney, who is established enough at our club at that time. Joined since 2005. 4 years already in Man Utd. And at first people were hoping he scores around 20 goals. Just 20.

And Berba, who is just 2 seasons, and people want him to score 20? Are you kidding me, he's called a flop at that time! And he's no our main target man! Look, ask other club, their 'other' striker, how many goals?

It's no fair man. Did we really can think what SAF thought? Did we really know why SAF bought Berba at the first place? If he is brought here for goals, obviously he'll kicked out already.

This is Manchester United. Please do what supporter does.

EDITED: Look at Forlan. He's brought here to goal. He didn't. And we have A MAIN TARGET. So we sell. Look at him now. I'm not saying I regret him being sold, but what I meant is if his not meant what he intent to be here at the first place, he is obviously will be axed. We'll see.
*
Well, Berbatov should be at the peak of his powers. It was different from Rooney. Rooney was young and still developing, so that was expected. 20 or thereabouts are minimum Berba should get with the number of games he's played. He has another season to give it a shot. His all round game are fine most of the time. He just need to finish it off better. He's rightly so being bashed for his finishing ability, but those expecting RVN like return are way off the mark.

QUOTE(befitozi @ May 15 2010, 12:09 AM)
For me, I don't really expect goals from Berbatov. As long as he puts in effort and actually run to play. Seen him done it, against Stoke and Sunderland or good examples. He definitely has the ability to do it. Heck i rate him as the most skillful player in the team.

It's his workrate which makes me dislike him. Really really much. Thats why Forlan was loved by the fans even though he doesn't score as much.
*
Some players work like are a workhorse that run non stop. Smithy, Rooney, Tevez, Fletcher, Keano, Park, etc. While others are like Carrick, Berba, Veron, Riquelme.. heck just look at the 'attackers' in teams outside of England. Most of them don't 'work' hard. And if his workrate is so bad, he would have his ass kicked long ago. Instead SAF paired him next to Rooney in most game these past two seasons. There's more than one way of playing the game. Ronaldo was free from defensive duties in his last few seasons with us, and Rooney have been told to tone down his work outside the final third.

Buffon, Rodwell please. Dzeko would be nice too, but we have too many strikers. And plus we don't have a lot of moneyyy. So Gibson and another cheap backup GK FTW! Looking forward to how Cleverly does in pre season. Would be great if we can secure him a loan deal to one of the EPL teams where he would be guaranteed a lot of games. Hopefully Fabio is out of his injury problems and start to be proper backup to Evra. Lord knows how Evra got by without any serious injury problems with O'Shea out for a while. But you bet things will not go too well next season.

So you agree it's the poorest double winners ever? Haha.
We start battle for next season early huh? Kesian Pool fans can't join in the fun. We need more Spurs supporter, and soon City as well. Au revoir.

Problem is that guy will have to be comfortable playing in a 442 in the middle/out wide. Silva, Gourcuff..

If Owen(and the others besides Berba and Rooney) wasn't here, he would be a good addition. But can't see it happen right now unless we plan to send out the others(Macheda, Welbeck, Diouf, Chicarito) out on loan for the next season or two, or drastically change the way we set the team up by off loading Berba.

Roon, Berba, Owen and the others(4 players there. Welbeck will go out on loan, question mark over Chicarito and Diouf abilities, and Macheda probably need another season or two to really stake a claim, but we wont loan him out for now).

Added on May 16, 2010, 2:16 pmBtw, anyone else hoping Scholes would have said yes to Capello's request? It would have been interesting to see how Capello used Scholes. They don't have a player like him. Put him next to someone who would be able to do a lot of running and a competent passer of the ball, you would see him dominate most games. It's nice and all that he put our interest(probably not the major decision, but by resting in the summer, he would be fresh for the start of next season) first by declining the offer, but I would like to see him redeem himself after what happened last time under Sven.

Barry, Lampard, Milner, Fletcher.. they all showed that it takes a while for CMs to truly shine in the middle. Hope we persevere a little bit more with Gibson and Anderson.
