De Laet is not that important to check up on. Just know that he is young.

His movement is excellent. This post has been edited by Wan: Jun 29 2010, 06:07 PM |

With a year left on his contract, I doubt Werder Bremen would demand too much although he won't be that cheap.

We don't really have an up and coming or a main 'AM'. We have Ando who seems more suited as a CM right now, Giggsy who's getting on, and Park who while effective in what he does, but we could and need to find someone to do more there. We have Petrucci I suppose, but he's a long way away from being considered in the first team. Cleverley will be interesting to watch because he's another player who is comfortable playing anywhere in midfield/attacking position besides as a striker. But he's not known for his brilliance/creativity. More of a runner, hard worker, who supports the attack well and know how to score goals. I'm hoping he turns into our own Mueller(not expecting him to be as good mind you, but rather a similar kind of player who can pop up with goals).
Our problem of finding and getting a pure AM is that we don't utilise a formation that uses that kind of player that often. We play 442 in 3/5 of the games that we play. The other 2/5 we use 433/451 or a 4231. So having a player that is versatile is important. Plus we have plenty of strikers to only use one in the majority of games that we play. Seeing what Ozil does, my god can you imagine him behind Rooney with Nani and Valencia out wide. He could easily play on the wings as well when we go with a straight 442 or a 451/433. We wanted him in the past and I'm sure we're still keeping our eyes on him. Whether we move for him though, god knows. We probably won't get him for whatever reasons. But if we're looking for value and someone that would fit our team, criteria, he's it. Plus we won't have to tear our hair out looking for a Scholes like for like replacement because there isn't one unless we can get our hands on Fabregas. Talking about youth, look out for Paul Pogba. We might not have to look far if Carrick decides he has done and achieved enough to take his foot off the pedal. King, Macheda, Welbeck, Will Keane, Petrucci, Ravel Morrison etc.. most of them probably won't make it with us, but at least a few will would be my guess especially with the new ruling come into place. |

It's the same each every May-August. First we refresh footy news sites every few mins or so each day. We discuss potential transfers. Then get silly when there's a confirm report. And pre-season friendlies is like the best thing in the world, especially if the new guy is playing. But every two seasons or so, at least we can get ourselves busy with the Euro's and WC's while waiting for the real season to start again.
