Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney hopes the best season of his career so far can be capped with a Premier League winner's medal.

The United marksman has been in scintillating form this term and currently tops the league's scoring chart alongside Didier Drogba with 26 goals so far.

Ten of those goals have come with his head and the England ace went on an amazing hot streak which saw him hit 19 goals in 15 games before picking up an ankle injury against Bayern Munich in March.

Rooney admits the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and Carlos Tevez to Manchester City have given him the chance to play more centrally, but knows his good form will count for little if the Red Devils do not pip Chelsea to the post.
