For those who are planing to go for snorkelling, please remember that you can help protecting coral reefs by following these simple rules:
1. Don't touch corals - No stepping/walk/stand/sit/have any body contact with corals, as corals are living animals and are EASILY damaged even by mere touch.
p/s: I am amazed by the fact that the guide brought us out for snorkelling didn't warn us about this.
2. Take all your rubbish back to shore - Plastic bags are lethal as they might wrap around coral.
3. Avoid kicking up sand - It will damage corals and other reef organisms.
For more information, you all can "google" information such as "protecting corals".
Besides that, I find that it is interesting to read and know the types of coral reefs before going for snorkelling. It is much more fun by knowing the name of the coral and even the fish u see when snorkelling.
