Anyone hv been gone to pulau redang? my fren said it's very nice places there wo...i planning to going there next yr soon lol...n oso wish to get u all experience n advices ooO....and there got so many hotel one, which u hv been stayed? n wat u played during there n how much totally u spent??
hmm what can we say about pulau redang..let seei've been to pulau redang twice, the first was to cert as an open water scuba diver ( 4 years back i think and stayed at redang bay resort, long beach @www.redangbay.com.my for 3d2n) and the later was honeymoon (and abit of diving:-) stayed at berjaya redang beach resort @www.berjayahotels-resorts.com/redangresort.htm 2years ago?) for 4d3n)
logging? it depends on your budget. you can get a dorm room type facilities for quite a reasonable price. i suggest for first timer, just tag along and sign up with the tourism operator such as @ www.pinganchorage.com.my/redang_island.htm /night. Still on the logging note, i recommend getting a beach facing room, although it is on a high side a bit.
best time to go?- Most of the resorts start to open thier business as early as march/feb. i reckon the best time to go is somewhere during June-Aug, where the sun is at the most peak, current is tolerable, and weather is generally calm (not to mention it is summer time in US and parts of the eupean world, so lotsa tourist lah.)
night life? most of the long beach resort operators do have an open beach bar establishment.
food? food is about the same price as in kl, quite decent. eatable. or take the package which normally bundle up together with food
other activities-beach stuffs (volley, soccer) jungle trek, and the water sports stuff. decently priced.
spending? no huge shopping malls there, so you and your money should be safe.
my humble opinion about redang..
i've been to most of the pulaus in the p. malaysia, and i have to say, the sand of redang is among the whitest, and finely coarse, i've ever seen. (back 3 years ago la). just amazing.
diving was generally good, depends on the underwater visibility and down current. i enjoyed it during my second time there. sharks (reef, black tip) and turtles at the same time. but for the best diving exp in p malaysia, i have to say tioman.
redang bay-stayed in the dorm type which is the closest to the beach. though it doesnt even come close to make a comparison to a 1 star hotel, no attached bathroom, single bed, room got to kongsi with max 5 others, no closet, etc, but guess what?..i like it really really much. it has this huge outside open verandah partly facing the beach, just nice to lay back and be gone and free. food is nice. redang bay got other type of room which are cosy and big, but i like the dorm better simply because of its proximity to the beach
berjaya redang-unless you get a beach facing chalet (which is not cheap btw) others are not really worth it. esp the "rumah panjang" type. typical berjaya setup (5 star and all), although i like berjaya tioman more due to the size and spaciousness. had a bad experience with the concierge, they seems to entertain and make more priority to foreigners more rather than the locals visitor. hate that when it happend to you, and in your own country.
i should stop here
