May I know what to do at Pulau Kapas?

How to go there?

Is the beach as nice as Redang?
*
Pulau Kapas beach is nothing special.. The beach is juz like any other beach although the senery is quite nice... Corals there are not up to standart compared to Redang....

Compared to Redang, Kapas losses out...(although Kapas used to b nice years back)... Probably due to the low mantainence....

Well Pulau Kapas u need to go to Marang to go there..(not typo..Is Marang... smile.gif )
Merang is where u go to Redang....

Anyone can compare Redang Berjaya Resort n Laguna?

I want to go Berjaya, then my frens said it is very expensive n is not worth, nothing to do, all u can do is same in Laguna...

so...anyone can give me more info about these 2 place?
*
Berjaya is more exclusive(n more expensive, well u can say its the most expensive of all).... Nice But kinda boring as it is the only resort on the beach...They have more facilities la compared to Laguna...
Laguna less exclusive abit than berjaya but Laguna more fun 2 me coz along the beach got other resorts to visit....

rclxm9.gif yeah.. ijust got back from Redang!! 1 word to describe.. PERFECT  rclxm9.gif

i stayed at Bahtera resort, fairly new resort just beside laguna,5 min walk to long beach via laguna, 5 min walk to teluk kalong.. it's in between teluk kalong n long beach!!.. the price is very very resonable too.

it's a quiet resort wif kampung style karaoke system, outdoor pingpong
table, carrom ...

the thing about staying at small resort is, u get to know each n every staff there up close n personal, tok cok wif them, n request extra toiletries, extra lunch, extra snorkeling session without additional charge..

unlike laguna, or other big famous resorts, when go snoakeling, the group is so huge, sometimes have to go in 2 big boats, bahtera has smaller group, so we go snorkeling using speed boat, rclxm9.gif

it's truly an unforgetable experience!! icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Yeah if u stay at smaller resorts u get to kno the staff better... But even for big resorts u can get to kno the staff well also...

Well... Big resorts usually bring u to better snorkelling place... Well.. usually.. Haha..
Anyways go snorkelling in large group is fun.. U get to kno more ppl... rclxms.gif

Actually I also wanna know more about Berjaya, because I have a free room for 2 days, but only room, not included food, snorkeling package, etc. Not sure how much gonna need if stay at there. Anyone had experience at Berjaya?
*
Berjaya if im not mistaken(coz havent been there in 2 years) they have buffet, ala-carte n food court area...
Well i dun think i need to tell u the buffet n ala-carte r expensive....But the food quality not bad though...
Food court is for budget lor.. laugh.gif

my package bought from MATTA Fair last year
2 snorkeling trips
1 beach snorkeling for 3 hours including equipment
1 jungle tracking (no time to do)

Perhentian got school lar brother

I agree, perhentian the best place to snork and no restriction on using fin or life jacket. Even you can jump in naked.
*
Lol.. Naked...? Mana boleh bang... Haha.. Wan kena *** izzit....? whistling.gif
Restriction on life jacket is depends on the boat operator... If the current is strong then they will advise u to wear lo.. Even u kno how to swim its stil dangerous... Fins also... Marine park they wont allow u to wear fins coz will damage the corals... Like Redang 2 nautical miles(if im not mistaken) from the beach is considered marine park so certain place they wont allow u to wear fins unless u can convince the boat operator that u can use the fins well... flex.gif

I myself would advise any1 who is not good at using fins, please dont use them even though there are no restriction.. Unless u are sure u would not damage the corals... I've seen many people using fins n accidentally kick the corals n do not realise it.. Its a shame.. Corals dont grow overnight so please do take care of them... smile.gif

Resort offering at RM20 per person for the transfer from bus station to jetty .. I'm going around mid July, pack season ? was hoping airasia go promo but well they promo on thailand pulak
*
I duno the rate coz I always go for free only... tongue.gif
Anyways.. I advise u to take the resort transportation.... Easy...
So u wont have trouble finding transport when u reach there.... Plus the hassle of getting to the jetty on time... And if the taxi driver hears u speak they will surely kno u r tourist.... Den will kena pao kao kao... Haha..
Plus the resorts transportation usually are much cleaner than public transport in Kuala Terengganu...

hey...... does any one of u already went to redang? how the coral? i heard ppl say the coral almost dying up in redang  sad.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif
*
Yeah.. Quite alot of corals in Redang not in prime condition anymore.. cry.gif
Due to poor maintanence and ignorant tourist... I've seen many times ppl step on corals thus breaking them.. Some even break them on purpose to bring back... doh.gif shakehead.gif Dats y now Ban on using fins to snorkel is being implemented...
Dats y I dun go snorkel anymore but diving instead.. drool.gif

1 tip 4 u guys.. When the resort operators bring u guys to go snorkel make sure u demand that they bring to places which still have live corals not dead corals covered in algae... More ppl to demand is better.. Let them kno consumer rights.. Aha.. biggrin.gif

Also I would advise ppl to take the merang jetty as it is much much shorter boat ride to Redang + u can c the kampung view during the journey from kt to merang jetty... smile.gif

If u guys have the budget get air tickets instead of bus ticket, coz taking the bus will be very tiring so u wont be able to enjoy urself dat much on the first day itself.. Air asia freaking cheap nowadays anyway..

And also 3D2N.. Seriously I tell u guys it isn't enough... I always go at least a week only come back.. biggrin.gif

morning peeps! need sum help ere. ill b going to perhentian @ the end of da month (28/5) which is during the skewl holidays.. any idea how early shud i buy the bus ticket in Pudu to Kuala Besut? a week earlier?.. will b going wif 6 other frens. oo btw, which bus express ya peeps recommend to take? : D
*
No bus stop at kuala besut.. U'll hav to reach Kuala Terengganu den take another transit to P.Perhentian jetty...

Better arrange wif the resort operator to include transport to Kuala Besut.. If not when u reach KT u might not be able to find taxi in time to board ferry to PP... smile.gif

1 Advise though.. Book EARLIEST u can.. School holidays sure no bus if u buy a week b4.... sweat.gif

Anyone took taxi from MBKT to Merang Jetty? How much would it usually cost?
*
Never took taxi to merang jetty so duno.. Usually juz drive there.. biggrin.gif

But its advisable to arrange wif the Resort operator to get transport.. More convenient..

My group wants to travel cheap sweat.gif So im not too sure whether it would make a difference to take a taxi or a coach provided by the resort...
*
I think resort operators charge like RM10 only rite per person..? Taxi should be cheaper but not by a huge margin la.. Plus taxi charge u for extra baggage i think..

Can someone help.. I not sure, but I'll be flying to KT then ferry to Lang Tengah this weekend.. Can I fly then dive? I'm only arriving on Sat and going back by plane on Sunday.. Can I dive on Sat and then rest for 24 hours?

Thanks for your advice in advance.
*
Domestic flights do not fly as high as international flights but to be on the safe side pls make an interval for at least 24 hours b4 boarding a plane... smile.gif

Juz make sure u make safety stops everytime b4 surfacing to the boat.. Even though its only a 15m dive.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Better be safe than sorry.. smile.gif

btw im in kt till june so if any1 needs help i'll try to help ... biggrin.gif

i just came back from redang.......damn nice the whether
the coral....... very nice in marine park...... saw groupa also
too bad i miss out see the baby shark in front of laguna beach.
they say every 7am morning got turtle swim around the rock between the laguna and reef resort
marine park, overcrowded.....too many bikinis......but u wont see lui when u at there, because coral more attractive
if u can swim lar.......swim far from the beach....... more beautiful coral.....
but i wondering when this marine park can be sustain?
because really overcrowded and coral near the beach is dying already sad.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif
*
Too bad u miss the baby sharks n turtle.. Very nice to c.. thumbup.gif

Marine park is always over crowded.. Dats y i dun like to go there... There r many more place that r nicer but resort operators wont bring the public to go there coz wanna keep the quality of the area.. biggrin.gif

That marine park that u go sure wont last very long coz those STUPID ppl go step on corals n throw rubbish everywhere.. shakehead.gif doh.gif

No sence of responsiblity at all..

But they still have many reserve marine parks..

How the wave there now ? still big wave ahhh ?
*
Depends.. I would say the wave is not big most of the time coz u'll be snorkeling nearby the island anyway... But nothing to wory about.. Its the ocean.. The wave will always be there.. smile.gif

Anyway the beauty of the island is much more overwhelming..

QUOTE(nelson_hew @ May 19 2008, 07:26 PM)
i thought now is the best season to go to??
Anyway i went there end of march, The beach the sand is nice...
but i saw plastics bags on the beach, so pls do pick it up and dump to dustbin, Turtles would think that is jelly fish and they will choke by eating it (since jelly fish is one of their diet)and eventually die...so pls pick up those rubbish or u wont able to enjoy turtles anymore...
*
Yes now is the best season to go.. thumbup.gif

Yah.. Pls do pick up the rubbish u see along the beach.. Or can find a group of ppl walk along the beach n collect any rubbish u can.. There are ppl who clean up the rubbish but they cant clean up the beaches 24/7, so pls be considerate...

Dont throw stuff around.. wink.gif

Hope there's more ppl like u around.. thumbup.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(Blue07 @ May 19 2008, 09:00 PM)
It's not that big. Just enough to rock the boat a bit every now and then. Are you going snorkeling/diving? They will also look at the weather and sea conditions. If it's not safe, I think they won't take you out.
*
Yeah.. It all depends on ur luck.. If bad weather then tough luck lah.. tongue.gif

The guide will kno if its safe to go snorkel so no worries.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh ya.. btw the squirrels there r very friendly.. Especially at laguna... They will take food u offer.. So cute sumore.. wub.gif

Got chance can take lots of pics wif them...

hiye there. Im going there with my friends next month on the 14th until 17th. We're gonna stay at Redang Reef Resort.

Is there anything special with Redang Reef? This is our 1st trip there.. so don't wanna missed out anything smile.gif

Is it true that we can see the turtle and baby shark swimming around Reef? You mean infront of the hotel, the beach area?
*
The area at laguna beach will have sharks n occasional turtles.. Wake up early n enjoy the sunrise.. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(juzannies @ May 20 2008, 04:08 PM)
You know me? Who are you? Hehee..
Anyway, how to catch the underwater photographer? Are they around all the time? I got 2 snorkeling trip perday only.. but im there for 4 days 3 nites.
I thought of buying an underwater case for my camera.. but im still afraid to try it underwater..
No warranty 1 wor... smile.gif
Are we allowed to swim around without any guard? But im not very good in swimming.. sad.gif But i wanna see the sharks and take pics with them!!! Hehee..
*
Stalker spotted.. Haha.. tongue.gif

The underwater photographer will follow u guys snorkeling so go near him n pose lah.. Haha.. biggrin.gif

Sometimes the will drag u down to the corals to take pics.. So muz hold breath abit lah..

I suggest u get an underwater casing for ur camera.. Alot of things to take underwater.. thumbup.gif
Then can show off to frens.. brows.gif
Juz make sure u follow the instruction on how to install the casing properly..
Make sure the camera n casing is 100% clean from dust and sand b4 putting on the casing especially at the o-ring part..
Ask assistance from the shop where u bought it if u have any doubt..

Yea u can swim around the beach without any guards.. But if u r nice to the guards they will bring u to see interesting things which normal ppl miss to see..
But since u r not good at swimming i suggest u better put on ur life jacket... Can be quite dangerous without life jacket if u duno how to swim..

wow. thanks for yr advise. on my 1st day there im gonna walk around and be frens with the guards then =D since got so much benefit.

i hope the casing is trustable.. if my camera spoilt im gonna burn the shop down! LOL!

I really cant wait to go there now.. everything u said seems so fun and beautiful.

thanks btw.
*
Haha.. U're welcome.. If ur casing leaks most probably water will slowly go in.. So juz check the casing once in awhile...
Most camera casing can withstand pressure up to 40m so should not be a prob lah.. biggrin.gif

where r u guys talkin about? perhentian or redang? Am thinking of backpackin alone to perhentian.. hehe...anyone care to join meh? smile.gif
*
Erm.. We're talking bout redang.. Havent been to perhentian for a long time d coz no contact there.. Interested to go perhentian also but no money wanna go.. Broke d for this month.. Haha.. Redang i always go coz i can stay for free.. brows.gif

Perhentian seems to have clearer water but less corals.. Redang have more corals but slightly murky water sometimes, but nothing bad.. biggrin.gif

Backpackin alone is great.. Can have a peaceful holiday n can socialize with lotsa ppl.. thumbup.gif

Err.. Duno where u hear such thing.. hmm.gif shakehead.gif

FYI.. Monsoon season starts around late October, Early November...

The sea is rough no matter what time of the year if the wind is blowing strongly and its raining...

Anyway island wave and mainland beach waves is totally diff... Mainland beach waves do tend to get stronger than island waves...

So I assume u goin to Perhentian from ur topic..? My advise.. Go ahead n enjoy urself.. icon_rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif
