hi everyone, noob here..

need some advice here. currently i'm using brunswick powergroove reactive 12lbs. average about 140 only. sometimes, the ball hit 1-3 pin but still there is/are pin left. so, i'm think of to upgrade to heavier ball probably 13lbs since my uncle give his 13 lbs urethane ball to me recently. is it worth to upgrade to 13lbs or go straight to 14 or 15lbs? new ball or 2nd hand ball?

u leaving pins on the left? Im assuming pin 7.. you should be happy because light balls usually leave pin 5(the middle one)..

its better to buy new.. 14lbs is a good start.. but u could go for 15lbs.. its just roughly 600grams difference between 14lbs and 15lbs.. LOL! my advice.. go with 14lbs.. because thats my favourite weight.. although it doesnt hit the pins as hard as 15lbs but it gives me a wonderful and consistant hook.

new ball is better because its new.. bowling ball tend to die.. die as in the surface does not suck up oil anymore and does not grip the lanes(you could use ur hands to feel a new reactive ball.. it feels sticky right? thats a good surface..).. when the ball dont grip the lane it hits much lighter.. believe it or not.. the balls do tend to grip the pins and spin them around to give you a much harder hit.. its not my own theory.. try throw ur ball with no roll and with roll to one single pin.. the ball with roll will fling the pin much harder..

so 2nd hand balls.. though some balls may still be alive and kicking.. you could buy a dead ball which will be extremely hard to play with because you will either get inconsistant ball reaction or no hook.. thats why ball maintanence should be the top priority for any bowlers who has a ball..

tq for your advice.

yup, it usually leave pin 5. so, what categories of bowling ball should I buy? stick to 'entry level' categories or upgrade to medium performance ball?

yup. as neo said, some 2nd hand balls not a good one coz die already. that why when u want to selling (seller) or buying (buyer) u must to try the ball 1st. for me as seller 2nd hand ball, i will try the ball 1st. if the ball impact still cun, i will sell it with the reasonable price. if the ball impact not as good as it to be, i will sell it for cheap (just for somebody want to learn play straight ball). as buyer, i also will test the ball 1st on the lane to look at it impact. when i satisfied, i will buy that ball lah. if not, i will not buy it. less cost and also still profit to get 2nd hand ball

* i had buy storm trauma unit carbide from kelvio for rm100 and on the past sunday, i have won 3rd placing (rm1500) on the event at seremban parade. that is 1st time i used that ball after buy it from kelvio hahaha. worth and profit already hehehe icon_idea.gif

* i also have track synergy pearl bowling ball and in the past month (april), i have make a new high game record using that ball in ampang point event. i have score 288 using that ball. my ball already plugged for over 5 times hehe. still good impact and the best huhu. try to buy 2nd hand ball which produce from year 2005 and below. 2000 and below more long life and good coverstock ball. for me lah hehe thumbup.gif

permukaan yg kesat ditambah dgn bende yg kesat dileret atasnya, maka dah tentu2 bende tu akan grip gila2. tp kalu permukaan yg kesat digolekkan bende yg licin atasnya, maka dah tentu2 lah lebih smooth perjalanannya

very dry lane - plastic/urethane ball
dry lane - urethane/entry level ball polished@pearlize ball
medium - medium ball la
heavy - sanded/solid reactive/high performance ball/aggressive ball
