noobie1 and solid, it was raining but the next few photos i took were fine. See the next photo i took immediately after that. Looks fine.

Could be a fine dust that flew off later. May be.

Btw, does our D90 have nostalgic effect?
*
nostalgic? O.O care to elaborate?

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jul 3 2010, 12:28 AM)
well, that's the answer I want. I thought SB900 can do wonders, can receive pop up flash trigger even though not facing the pop up.

but my nissin can be triggered even though with the sensor away from the pop up range, but need to use TTL (stronger pop up flash power). So now i just use TTL if i need to trigger quite far, but lower the flash compensation for pop up flash.
*
it doesn't Have to face the flash, just make sure that somehow the light from the built in's preflash reaches the sensor. usually the remote flash will trigger cos the preflash light bounces of walls and stuff to reach the sensor.

hmm. i wonder if a remote flash is placed far enough from the camera in an open space (light can't bounce from preflash) thn you put a small reflector angled so that the preflash bounces onto the sensor, will it trigger? hmm.gif

edwardgsk & ifaaan, an example of the nostalgic effect is the first photo below. Sepia mode i think the D90 has it(second photo)

I might be wrong but sepia usually has a brown lighting while nostalgic is more of the yellow lighting.

Ya i took this with a pns. I went from a raining outdoor to indoor. The thing i find weird is the next photo seems fine, just few seconds later after the first photo.
*
you mean cross process? you wanna knw if the D90 can shoot and produce pictures with that effect or what? haha.
the D90 has sepia in it, but only for post process. to shoot in sepia you have to make a new picture type yourself and set it to look like sepia. (:

btw, i'm looking for a flash diffuser for my SB-600. will there be a difference between flash diffusers of different makes? eg. nikon, phottix, octopus, some china brand. or can i go with whichever i want and still be happy. biggrin.gif

IMO there's no Nikon brand flash diffusers, and there should be no much difference for different brands. What is different is the TYPE of the diffuser. The most common one is the stofen diffuser, squarish one and just fit into your flash head. there are lots of other types of flash diffuser and can result in different effect.

Other diffusers are Lambency diffuser (looks like big maggi cup), bounce card, Demb Flash Diffuser Pro (DFD, very famous) etc...
I personally think DFD's design is good and the most versatile. Celciuz will know how good it is =D
*
ohhhh.. tongue.gif thanks! been looking for a stofen diffuser but not sure if the brand makes a difference. now i knw. hehe.

yep, saw the DFD when celciuz mentioned it a while back. so big shocking.gif hahaha.

retouch menu> monochrome or retouch menu> color balance?

You mean you created a setting and you can save that setting? How did you do that?  tongue.gif
*
emm. you mean when you shoot it becomes sepia straight right?
in that case thn it's not in the retouch menu.

shooting menu > manage picture control > save/edit > choose monochrome > change the toning to Sepia from B/W > change Sepia tone and sharpening to liking > save

and voila! icon_rolleyes.gif

The preset monochrome under retouch menu can only be used once a photo is taken. Like sepia and b/w.

The shooting menu > manage picture control > save/edit > choose monochrome > change the toning to Sepia from B/W > change Sepia tone and sharpening to liking > save is to shoot straight with that setting right?
*
the ones under retouch menu is to edit the photos you have already taken.

what i previously wrote is the picture control, same as Vivid, Portrait etc. so if you already made that sepia picture control preset, thn whatvr you shoot will be in sepia. it'll also show as sepia when you use live view. nod.gif

y use iso 50 and 100?? nikon D90 is best with iso 200
*
lol. it's always best to use low ISO. especially if you're using long shutter. and just because the default is ISO 200 doesn't mean it's best lar. hahaha.

lolx...bro, both aso got chinese word...so mean both are low quality battery??
btw, those both battery are made in japan...not china...tongue.gif
yup..i know is best to use low iso..but then last i heard, celciuz said D90 iso are best at 200...
*
oh ya ka? bt anyway, about your fireworks shooting thing. if you use ISO 200 and use say 10 second shutter, you might overexpose your photo. this is of course assuming you are using small f/. higher ISO will allow you to use smaller apertures so you get deeper depth of field. but if you want bokeh thn you gotta use low ISO to minimise the light exposure so you dnt overexpose your pic. smile.gif

somebody correct me if i'm wrong. hahahaha.

use 30s f/22 with black card biggrin.gif

Added on July 6, 2010, 12:18 am
btw, i don't understand what you're saying  hmm.gif

if low light, smallest f number as possible and bump up ISO to 800 and above lor to be safe.
*
eh eh, he's shooting fireworks laaa. it'll be super bright. what i said applies to shooting fireworks. dnt really think it applies anywhere else unless it involves shooting bright light sources.

u could use ido 200 with f/32 but then again...do you really nid bokeh when shooting firework?? from what i see, most firework background are black..because we are shooting toward the sky...unless u are at some higher place lah..then can add in a little bit landscape...
*
yeah, depends on how he'll be shooting. imo, shooting fireworks straight up makes the pic look a bit flat. so if shooting fireworks from a distant or if you're able to include background or foreground thn you can play ard with the bokeh. tongue.gif
