QUOTE(jsc_tidus @ Jun 15 2010, 02:47 PM) or all primes, 24 f/1.4, 35 f/2, 50 f/1.4, 85 f/1.4, 105 f/2.8, 135 f/2, 200 f/2 QUOTE(celciuz @ Jun 15 2010, 07:08 PM) Now that I'm curious, why is 50mm f/1.8D called a portrait lens? Is it because of it being cheap + able to bokeh? cos on DX is equivalent to 75mm, close to 85mm on FX which is a portrait lens, so ppl call 50mm portrait lens?This post has been edited by General_Nic: Jun 15 2010, 07:15 PM |

QUOTE(bad melatonin @ Jun 15 2010, 08:37 PM) i guess its personal preference of what lens to use for portrait shooting then. irregardless whether its under portrait lens category or not... thats y, its up to personal preference whether the lens suitable for portrait or not but cant jz categorise it as portrait lens jz bcos u like it for portrait, thats wat celciuz trying to say i thk 50mm is gud for portrait for most ppl, but its not a portrait lens, more of normal lens but its jz a name la, the user like to use it for any purpose its up to him/her even 105 macro oso very nice n chun lens for portrait, too sharp maybe |

QUOTE(kenji_britney @ Jun 15 2010, 08:54 PM) i think 50mm and above are considered good portrait lenses because of the DOF, it can produce more bokeh since shots will be taken at a further distance. at closer range like 35mm, you won't get as much bokeh as 50mm does. ur post proves that u haven seen d powah of 24mm f/1.4 on FX body QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Jun 15 2010, 08:54 PM) same here, dump my dream of getting 70-200 f/2.8 after seeing d pics taken with 24mm f/1.4 on D3 |

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jun 20 2010, 11:00 PM) And if you have enough money to get D90, r u sure you have extra money to fund on those lenses without motor? Like me i'm still with d90 kit, no extra lens yet =X added D5000 to D90 is a parallel upgrade to me, I would suggest a D300S or D700 if you have the money, D3s/D3x if u have more money if not, stick with d5000 and upgrade lenses/flash better! |
