*
It auto creates the folders for you on your SD card. Dun think there is a create folder setting though. hmm.gif

Saw that post about GF1 going for 3K+ ... and now that you say that the EP-1 is going for RM2.35K

It's exactly the oppossite prices here in Taiwan  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif
*
I just search the prices posting on this forum, Olympus really cut price a lot compared to Panny. hmm.gif

Is it expensive over there? How much they cost in Taiwan? sweat.gif

Edit: Oh ... I just checked Yahoo TW ... yea they both have opposite prices .. wth shakehead.gif

Over here its the opposite... speaking in terms of both official and grey import goods.

All the Panny m43's potong price like hell... GF1 for example drop to around NT23K (RM2.3K)

But all the Oly stuff... price steady.. no drop. Tak logic wan.

E-PL1 - ~ RM2.5K
EP1 kit - ~RM2.8K
EP2 kit no EVF - ~ RM3K
EP2 kit+EVF - ~ RM3.9K
EOS 550D - ~ RM2.9K
*
And Panny G2 twin lens kit (14-42mm + 45-200mm) = 30,500 元 (Rm3k) cheaaaapppp doh.gif
Here selling Rm3.6~3.7k ... sad.gif

i was thinking like how to create a folder just to save all the pics snapped on that certain event so that i can easily transfer the whole folder to my comp from the SD card.
*
Unfortunately it doesn't have that function. You have to sort it yourself on PC. tongue.gif

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jun 7 2010, 08:22 PM)
NEX5 pretty much destroyed the M43 market lol IMHO
*
No way, how can a new format win an established standard market? tongue.gif

QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Jun 8 2010, 01:26 AM)
I don't think so - at least for now NEX is far away from being perfect:

1. Lack of manual controls, for just changing ISO you may need a few presses to navigate thru the menu

2. Big size of lenses - I've no idea why many people are so attracted to the small and thin body, but with APS-C sensor the lenses (especially zoom) will be much bigger compare to a m43 sensor. In term of portability, M43 potential is still bigger than NEX

3. Not everybody likes its adventurous and futuristic design (Mr.LKM for example)

4. M43 has the 1 year+ advantage ahead of NEX. It's a joint venture by Olympus + Panasonic and it's by any chance more mature compare to NEX, for example - 3 lenses from NEX as opposed to 11 lenses from M43 as of now, not to mention M43's endless possibility to use legacy lenses via adapters

To say NEX5 is competing with M43 is right, to use the word "destroy" is an overstatement. At the end of the day, we as the consumers should be happy with the competition of these manufacturers and the choices we have smile.gif
*
Well, he said it laugh.gif

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jun 8 2010, 01:38 AM)
Ouch...i'm not a fanboy lar tongue.gif

Actually i meant the Image Quality due to the APS-C sensor. Before the NEX3/5 was announced, everyone was saying how good a M43 system is, being so slim yet producing awesome results, boasting the M43 sensor. But with the arrival of the NEX3/5 with a much bigger sensor than the M43's with a slimmer form factor, for me, this beats the M43 totally(IMHO blush.gif )

Well, the downside is probably the manual controls  shakehead.gif .Like you said, changing the ISO takes so many steps while a conventional DSLR and M43? just press the button kao tim lol  tongue.gif

Maybe i should change the word i used to "NEX5 will give M43 a big run for its money"  laugh.gif
*
No doubt the APS-C sensor generally is bigger and by right should produce better IQ, but look at those pics taken from entry DSLRs with same sensor, they aren't any better than m43's. It all comes down to other features and standards. m43 sensor being smaller, therefore can have smaller lenses, 2x crop factor good for tele. m43 has all the features that a traditional DSLR has and .. it's smaller .. that's what m43 is about! icon_idea.gif

It is an online store in Australia. I may be able to help you guys to get some if there is a demand. By the way, any major drawback m43 users can comment on?
*
What do you mean by major drawbacks on m43? blush.gif
For GF1 has no IS built-in, so need to rely on Panny lenses' Mega OIS .. which are very expensive. sweat.gif
Another one is lack of EVF for Panny's systems ... I'm ok without it actually ... perhaps it's bad for battery as LCD always on. wink.gif

QUOTE(hellfire8888 @ Jun 8 2010, 11:45 AM)
just look at the high iso for sony nex

http://dpreview.com/reviews/SonyNex5Nex3/page16.asp

what a dissapointment...expecting heaven n hell type of difference in results since they keep on emphasizing on the LARGER sensor..but guess they screw it...
*
Yeah .. just read that too ... seems E-PL1 is better huh? brows.gif

hey ask you guys a question...

if a good friend of yours asking you to borrow your M43 camera to try out during his one week vacation.. will you allow?

this actually happened to me recently.. and I said yes since he was so close to me and I doubt he will not treat my GF1 nicely..

but the thing is, when it returned to me, I'm stunned by the shutter count reading.. when I handed it to him, it was around 11K..

guess what's the count now?

a staggering 40K!! my goodness.. i'm definitely sakit hati to see my camera life span shortened so drastically..

anyone knows the life span of GF1's shutter?
*
Whoaa ... he took 29k ?? Ask him to show you all the pictures man .. wth .. haha !! Damn I never lend my camera out to anyone, even when gathering I won't keep my eyes off when someone borrow it to take pictures for me or what. Some people just don't know how to take pictures, let alone taking care of camera sweat.gif The first day I got my camera ... my colleague open the lens out .. I was like wtf dust will go in lah !! doh.gif

So sad to hear your story man ... I feel you. blush.gif

Nah.. he just capture and delete capture and delete.. it's only 8GB memory card~~ in the end only 1000++ picta...

luckily I didn't put in the 12GB that I use for daily... otherwise...
yeah every shutter has its life span.. for instance D90 is rated around 100k-150k.. but I've heard tonnes of stories about shutter died way below their rated shutter life span... it all depends on your luck..

I don't really know about the life span of GF1's shutter though..

Changing shutter will cost around RM300-400 (based on Canon 400D).. I'm worry the day of my shutter is numbered..
my friend's lappy has a software to check shutter count for panasonic camera.. he downloaded from some randon HK photography forum.. he told me about the shutter count when I gave him my card to transfer some photo...
*
I check by counting on the filenames generated, rough estimate. tongue.gif

Take my GF1 for example the folder in the SD card:

DCIM->100_PANA->P1000001.jpg <-- first file run till p1000999.jpg (meaning 999 count)
Then it creates another folder with name --> 101_PANA. You get the idea. icon_idea.gif

So every folder has 999 files, not sure about video files though tongue.gif

If you reset your camera then gone lo sweat.gif ..But if format the card won't reset the file numbering though. smile.gif

If you need zoom lens with IS then Panny 45-200mm is the only one. If you can live without IS and size, you may consider 4/3 zoom lenses, but you'll need adapters. icon_idea.gif

so that is why we need multi coated blah blah blah

u try to compare a B+W with a china brand then you'll see the difference

I think is the best already, unless you buy in a kit or 2nd hand, but I doubt people with m43 will sell it, unless they quit m43. laugh.gif
