today's star paper review 3 mirrorless cams together: GF-1, EPL-1 and NEX-5. not fair le mention so much of GF-1's weakness but not others (esp. NEX-5)

i wanna ask, what is the difference between panasonic and all this m43 camera? Does m43 have HD recording? And is there any differences with the m43 format with those dslr one, theirs is aps-c or something like that, the photo size will be difference?
*
m43 is a sensor format. Panasonic and Olympus camera is based on m43 format. Differences is feature they have.
All latest m43 camera have HD recording.

Basically m43 is 4:3 ratio while aps-c is 3:2 ratio. m43 sensor is smaller than aps-c.

Photo size will be the same. Both 12MP APS-C camera vs 12MP m43 camera, the photosize
is same.

Panasonic officially announces DMC-LX5 premium compact with a new CCD sensor ... not a m4/3 sensor. brows.gif

*
actually I feel Panasonic make a very bad decision. I mean, who in the right mind will damage the LX[insert number here]
reputation by putting in a CCD sensor when Canon is now putting in CMOS sensor into their best compact? Is Panasonic
going to be like Fuji where it is going downhill after F31fd? tongue.gif tongue.gif

oh thanks for the info, because i tot it will be different. Does m43 cameras do well in low light condition? Because normal compact camera is like shit when come to low light condition, full of noise. Thinking of saving for a nice camera.
*
It'll be good during low light... better than compact a lot of times.. smile.gif smile.gif

any GF1 users using lens adapter+manual lenses? do m4/3 cameras use the same adapter?
anyone know where i can find them? i found a 25 year old SLR lens i wana try out on my gf1 lol!
*
the same m43 adapter can be used both on gf1, e-p1, e-pl1 and etc. means, all m43 use
same adapter.

you can find them from ebay. I personally bought Canon FD adapter from Ebay. They ship frm China
to Malaysia.

Wat lens is that?

huh? sorry fer what?

I'm thinking of either get a GF1 body to play play or just get FD to EOS adaptor
*
if I were you, FD to EOS adaptor makes more sense. Unless you get E-PL1 which will stabilized
the FD lens...lol...

Wow!!!!

Ur into wildlife photography now? The eagle is manual focussed?
*
oh no... just went to Langkawi... since armed with tele lens, i just shoot only...

eagle is AF... they are too fast to MF... unless I prefocus and wait them... unfortunately
I'm not ready for eagle taking that time... the boat suddenly stop there and ask us to see the
eagle.. so I just shoot with AF and in Auto mode... noobs here.. i should widen my DOF so that
its easy to AF... a lot of missed AF... the eagle quite far away... sad.gif

OK... reason I asked is that I tried shooting bats in flight over the weekends... PHAILED miserably.
*
lol... its quite hard to AF...

did you try to do continuous AF and continuous shooting? you might get some good shots...ahahaha...

probably you can widen DOF so that its easy to AF... that's what I think la... hahah

furthermore, if your bat is all black, that making even harder to AF...lololol...

hihi.. thanks for your response..
i'm currently having a slr...

1. can i know if handling a micro four third the same like handling a slr?
eg. in terms of focusing, shooting mode, equipment care..
-same. if u handle slr b4, no diff
2. picture quality = is it as good as a slr?
-yup, YMMY though
3. pricing (in a set.. with lenses..) = cheaper? or comparable.. ?
-comparable
slr bodies has got some time cycle.. after a while, it'll be replaced with newer models.. will it be the same with micro four thirds?
-yup

what are those UV filter for? protection? what is CPL?
noob here sad.gif

Normally people put UV for protection. It might degrade your picture if you use cheap one.

For CPL, this is a good explantion:
