yes use zuiko 35mm macro need an adapter..mmf-1

manual focus with ep2 and epl1 is easy if you have the viewfinder..if no viewfinder also easy..just use the green lil bos select area you wanna focus at and it will auto magnify to that area and then u twist and turn the barrel till everything sharp and voila snap it..

I don't have 35mm, mine is 25mm. By right, 35mm should be sharper with lesser distortion, especially vignetting.
For me, I hv to depends very much on EVF. Sometime need to magnify to achieve sharper focus. 25mm is able to shoot under low light. The LCD/EVF will appear brighter with this lens and this help in focusing.

I only tested the 25mm twice where I set it to Aperture Priority and just shoot (there is an aperture ring but I always set it to wide open for night shot. Have not tried on daytime though).

Thanks for the detail, let me try later...and report back to your guys

hi, i jz posted this question on other thread but since this is a much more dedicate thread for m43, so i may hv much more precise ans.

im planning to get gf1 in coming months, do you guys think it is appropriate time since the gf1 adi on the market for like a year?
im still kinda new with all these m43 camera, previously own a sony p&s which mean that im jz a beginner photographer, so acquiring help from the sifu all here.

im oso on dilemma on the lens, budget is my main concern, i wanna try to make sure every penny i spend worth the most. i did research on the price of gf1, gf1 + 14-45mm lens are around rm2.4k and gf1 + 20mm lens are around rm2.8k. since there is quite a difference in price, which one should i buy? or maybe u guys can gv me some info about the price and where i can get cheaper..

im a casual photographer, taking pic like gadget, people, scenery..

thx

Hi hapa, I'm not an expert to suggest you which lens but after reading this report http://craigmod.com/journal/gf1-fieldtest/ I bought GF1 with 20mm kit lens. I'm really happy with it.

For pricing I recommend this seller http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/672153 to get your Lumix gear. Just bought 7-14mm lens from him... the cheapest price in town... no worry he is genuine...

I assume you have limited budget... to start with, you have only 2 choices pencake or 14-45mm lens. 14-45mm is good lens for outdoor pictures. For indoor or night you still needs a good lighting. Built in flash can cover but with some limitation. Same like my situation before... finally I select pencake because of the higher aperture... and user recommendation...
You still can upgrade the lens later once you have enough budget.

yes, i hv a budget constrain. my initial plan was to get the 14-45mm lens because i can save around rm300-400 bucks compare with the 20mm pancake lens but after some reading on the net, most of the users are recommending the pancake lens. that y im in dilemma which lens should i get.

y there is a price difference between both lens in malaysia? amazon like selling both lens at the same price point.

the optical zoom really important? hmm.gif

Long time not here ...arrr..due to some personal thing. sad.gif
Hopefully it wont spoil my interest in photography.

My personal experience:
After getting panny 20mm, i don't even bother to use my 14-42 kit lens.
Indeed, it handles 70% of my daily requirement. However comes to actitivity like hiking which requires zoom or wide angle .....I would back to my kit lens.

And echoing the words, u ll never regret geting panny 20mm

I'm using a E-P1, so the 20mm pancake is almost a must since I don't have a built in flash to support.

Now my 14-42 seems redundant. I've tried to use it but it is almost unusable indoors even on broad daylight. Bumping out the ISO doesn't help either sad.gif.

So far I've only use the kit lens for long exposure shots, which helps with composing better than the pancake.

another thing, remember I always complain bout the lack of AF Assist beam in E-PL1?

I found that 20mm is really beast to solve this problem. Now I can even take a good picture in very low dim light karaoke or pub.
