I got a tip from another forumer if you are photographing a white or black backdrop like model shoot.

Choose Exposure spot Highlight for white backdrop, and spot shadow for black backdrop.

IIRC, it will make the whitest point white for highlight while the spot shadow will make the darkest backdrop black. Try to use it in conjunction with your ISO or noise reduction.

That's a very good deal. Most shops at Fotokem just offer the card and probably bag. Thats a whole bag of goodies!!

Yes, m 4/3 lens are interchangeable between panasonic and olympus. If unsure, just look box packaging has the "micro" word. But panasonic lens are much more expensive due to the use of OIS. Oly has internal stabilization, which makes the lens cheaper in theory (no need OIS).

iambloodysick selling at 1.2k minus rm1. Should suit your needs.

Anyway, know where I can get a compatible battery for E-P1? Saw the selling price for ori is rm250 >.<. Thought one battery was enough was I was so wrong, barely lasted 4 days with minimal shooting.

Suprisingly, I can register online for one year warranty for the panny 20mm lens.

Btw, just ordered the Octopus BLS-1 Compatible battery. Anyone used it before?

@faidz85

Just tested the Octopus Battery after first charge.

Built: Almost as good as our Oly Battery without the rm200 price tag. Fits like a glove

Charging time: About 1-2 hours, I think its similiar to the original battery but its rated 1200mAh, 50 more then the original.

Battery life: Pretty good, took over 260 pictures on a 2 days duration and it's still FULL on the meter. I don't know if it's the battery or because I remove the image preview setting.

Conclusion: Save your money and get this battery for rm65. But don't sue me it anything goes wrong in the long run. But so far its quiet safe.

Corrected statement, its now 1 bar left. I think Olympus only has 2 indicators, Full, Half and Empty.

Pic Spam!

Panorama shot of Marina Sands hotel. 2.5 seconds exposure. Too bad this is the only night shot I had of it. The "Magic Hour" is kind of too short for me. Have to use my bag as a tripod HA. Testing out Photoshop CS Auto Stitch which work quite well, even though the building it self wasn't straight but slightly curve.

You mean the zoom or telephoto range? Why not get the 45-200mm Panasonic? Its equivalent to the Canon 55-250 lens focal length which I tested and seem quite satisfied with the zoom range it allows.

Hei Hei, don't forget about me! I'm the one that started mentioning about "Paul's" Batteries tongue.gif.

So far coming to 1 week, its almost as good as the BLS-1 Batt. In fact the main cuprit for battery drain is image preview. Thing totally empty from one bar in a day.

I won't recommend myself to put a metal hood on the pancake, since I favour portability above others. So I'm using a UV filter myself, HOYA. For a pancake, you can easily use your hand to cover stray lights entering the lens.

I'm using a E-P1, so the 20mm pancake is almost a must since I don't have a built in flash to support.

Now my 14-42 seems redundant. I've tried to use it but it is almost unusable indoors even on broad daylight. Bumping out the ISO doesn't help either sad.gif.

So far I've only use the kit lens for long exposure shots, which helps with composing better than the pancake.

100-300 looks awesome. A poor mans telephoto lens. Hopefully the price after the "expected" US retail price remains at RM 18**.

But then again 100-300 zoom is overkill for normal use.

Yeah, it sure is. But having a long telephoto lens comes in handy for jungle trips or concerts. I'm sure its easy to sneak in the lens and body separately in each corgo pockets. As long as you dont show up in a BIG dslr body smile.gif.

Now considering getting th 45-200. I got a wedding and proposal coming next month to attend.

Sony lenses choices are pathetic. And only they make their lenses, tamron and sigma not much support for them too.

At least with m43 Oly and Pana are doing a great job introducing different lenses every year for different area of use. Can't remember when Sony did that except for their NEX. And their adaptors are another BIG PLUS. I've read alot of people are using LEICA lens on it as a cheap replacement compared to the LEICA brands.

Even I don't use M. Usually I only use it after taking a shot with P mode, get the Aparture and Shutter value and adjust it in A mode or S mode. Honestly, if you are still new to camera, P mode is still a great way to start, and adjusting the exposure level.

Anyway, I got a problem. Sometimes my E-P1 screen will go blank except the camera setting details when taking picturea. I usually have to press the lens release button and shake it around a bit to get the image back on. Anyone got this problem before I make a report to Olympus SC?

17mm? Wait.... That translate to 34mm wide. Damn, no different from my Canon A720IS....

Still think LX3 has the better wide focus of 24mm, my carry me on landscape and outdoor camera. Sayang want to bring E-P1 to lakes, jungle trekking and hill climbing tongue.gif
