I'm wrestling with the thought of having my DB lapels padded in beige-coloured silk. That way, one can see all the little pricks on the underside. Far, faaaaaar cooler than any stupid machine embroidery of your name to signal a bespoke number.

You super lala. Better get gold silk thread for buttonholes as well.

He wouldn't mind anyway. I have full pictures of him doing casual wear in high quality, all saved in my hard drive.

It's starting to take shape. Now you look like a navy beer keg.

Added on August 21, 2010, 2:08 pmI was told that the gorge will be lower once the suit is completed. Previously a forumer showed us his basted fitting pics where the gorge had gone all the way up to the point where it can never be seen, but turned out to be fine on the completed piece.

That would be the winning 4D numbers of the day probably 30 years ago. Special prizes on the left, consolation on the right.

What have you done to your shoulders?

Added on August 22, 2010, 2:20 pmYou sure you're done with 2 fittings? R already gave me four fittings, I'm still not done with it. I'm going to pester him next week for another fitting and show him pictures of my desired notch style.

We'll see how well he can replicate that notch.

I don't know either. Study the notches on the first and second coat. They both share the same gradient on the gorge line but look at the shape of the collar. I prefer the shape on the first one. But then this may be the toughest detail to pull off correctly. For instance, on sloped shoulders, a droopy notch might appear just fine as the shape follows the contours of the shoulder line but imagine how would it look like on squared or build up shoulders. The droopiness would be much more prominent. The collar height, shoulder slope, gorge, lapel width, all have to blend and work together nicely to achieve your desired notch. There are no measurements used or shortcuts in doing this. The only way is to adjust, adjust and adjust.

Servo would be his 9 year old younger brother's account that he frequently uses to post rather kinky messages on the board.

So I went to the haberdasher for some Star buckles. Unfortunately they do not have any of that left. The old lady threw me a plastic packet full of buckles. The quality was terrible. They were rusty, dented and some are even distorted. I painstakingly picked out three that were still in decent condition from the packet. 80cents each.

There is also a packet of D-ring buckles which caught my attention. I realized they can be used as side buckles too. It works similar to a D-ring belt. The old lady told me people bought them to be used in bags. I wanted to buy two pairs of them, one for each side, but I chickened out. What do you think?

They're just normal D-rings.

The shape suits chinos better imo. The curved side will cause bunching to the straps. Not a good idea.

Are these buckles in Brass finish by chance? It depends how the buckles are designed
*
Stainless steel I suppose. But there are many colors available! I almost fell for it.

Added on August 23, 2010, 9:43 pmWhich kind of buckles do you all prefer? I never liked those used in women's clothing. They're so hard to adjust when worn.

Comparison with Star. doh.gif Star's quality is sound

RJW? if you are ever in hongkong, sham shui po has very decent stuff for cheap. Look out for those with 'teeth' as my tailor calls it.

On one incident, the 'teeth' damaged the strap on one side of my pants. Guess I pulled it too hard.

Added on August 23, 2010, 10:37 pmWhat zipper AL uses? I can't believe R is still using YKK. It's either ARROW or OPTI on my grandpa's old pants.
