I know ABS plastic quite dangerous to use with Lacquer
but I plan to AB my kit(previously I hand painted which Lacquer paint slowly break one and more parts)

do risk still have? hmm.gif

Not lacquer only, other paint will make the plastic become brittle as well. Unless you buy the newer MG kit like Nu Ver.ka which their plastic is paint friendly.
Lacquer paint was quite popular, they gave a lot of varieties. Take gaianotes paint as example, you can see the types of colors they offered. So there are a lot of people paint their kit with lacquer paint. I think a layer of primer could at least protect the plastic from directly "eat" by lacquer paint.
If you want to use acrylic paints, I would recommend vallejo paints because they also have many types of paint.

oh I see
so its 50-50 then

last time hand painted with lacquer(Gaianotes) the inner frame for Zaku 2.0
the part broke by itself

but with lacquer spray can, nothing happened
I guess must be the paint-thinner ratio problem

Good point there. I guess the lacquer spray can is Samurai paint because last time you post about their clear paint, but not yet see your result using that as top coat. sad.gif

No worries, it was really clear, thanks for sharing. Did they specify flat or gloss for their clear paint or just label as clear paint?

i want to ask, does this applies to gundam markers too? making the plastic brittle?

i had an mg, where a part of the inner frame i coloured it with the markers, (in the end realizing it wont show anyways) and then i erase using the gundam marker eraser. did dat a few times iinm, to clean that part.

then when i attempt to connect it to the shoulder part, not yet connect, just nearly, it patah by itself. im trying to find out the reason behind it broken, so i wont do the same mistake again. thanx in advance ya.  notworthy.gif

So far I don't have any problem with marker pen, been detail up my model kits and they still in good condition. I'm not sure though, maybe cause by the marker eraser, maybe it consist some sort of thinner or alcohol. Although I have marker eraser but I don't use it, I just wipe excessive paint with Mr. Paint Remover. I think you should ask some pro and experience modeler to confirm this and clear your doubt. To be honest I'm not so familiar with paints and thinner things, sorry that I couldn't help you. sad.gif

Hi, I know there are a lot of experience modelers here, so I'm going to ask a question regard Tamiya Epoxy Putty. I used it for extend my model kit parts, I mix them with 1:1 ratio and then stick it to the part I want. And I left it for 4-5hours then do some shaping, after that left it for 1 days for completely harden.

This is the first time I use it, so I'm wondering is it the finishing will be gummy or it should completely solid feel? Mine just gave me gummy feel and now already 2 days since I applied it. Hope people here are kind enough to answer me, thanks. smile.gif

Hi gurus,

I am kinda new to this thread but has been doing model for quite a while, so I hope my question is appropriate here.
Would like to ask about :-

1. How you all make a sticker on the model look like water decal or pressure decal style. Generally it is about trying to make the edge of sticker look as transparent and not noticeable as possible. Coating ?

2 . Related to question 1, I was trying to skip the simple sticker like a small one with just few black line with panel lining painting. But struggling in steadily drawing it. Is there such a tool (metal/plastic) where it serve kinda like a shape masking so can paint it easier.

3. Lastly, also related to question 1 tongue.gif, to completely overcome the sticker problem, I often looking for water decal, but really struggle in looking for PG astray red frame one. Anyone know where to get this ?

lots of question and I hope my "explanation" is not too bad  tongue.gif

1. Water decal can be solve by using Mr.Mark Setter.
2. Can't really get your point. But you are trying to draw few straight lines on a surface, get a template, ruler or dymo tape to serve as a guide to draw straight line.
3. I'm not sure market got water decal for PG astray or not but if you want custom decal, you can find Samueldecal . And good luck. smile.gif

Based on my limited experience with epoxy putty, it should be rock hard and not gummy like you mention. Probably because of the humidity factor in since it will effect the drying process of putty.

Thanks, I will try it again next time.
