QUOTE(g3n0c|d3 @ Nov 3 2010, 10:18 PM) I seriously need a good amp gor my ck100. I love how pico drives them but i have to try stepdance just to make sure im doing a right decision. Any thoughts? And sorry to say mustang with ck100 is a no-no for me. Just cant do justice for my ck100. Hurm, havent tried pico but i did some comparison between mustang and stepdance. I used a salsa song which have saxophone, guitar, drum and vocals. Have to say the stepdance make it sound wide and the sax sound nicer on stepdance but the vocals and mid is not as forward as mustang. If just basing on SQ, I would say stepdance > mustang but its too short of listening. According to here, both are far better than pico but its still very subjective

According to here, both are far better than pico but its still very subjective Pico amp somehow translucent the ck100 to more detailed phone than mustang did which darken the ck100 sound signature. Since mustang clutted the mids of ck100, i dont feel its suitable with mids phones. On the other hand, pico makes ck100 brighter than usual and brighten the mids to another level. If stepdance only widen the soundstage and make the bass a tad tighter, i guess i have to go for pico then. But i seriously need to audition both before i can decide.

i forgot to mentioned another thing i noticed, with mustang, the vocals sounds closer and overpowered the instruments but stepdance, the vocals sound a bit far off a bit. Im using ES10 which has a very recessed mid so mustang so for mid phones like ck100 should be good with stepdance, my 2 cents

What can I expect from the M50? I've read tons of posts, some of them say too digital, some say ok, some say less detail, some say boomy bass, some say no soundstage some say perfect spatial, some say after burn-in >100h can heat bass starts to calm down and its more accurate and punchy, some say no good for rock the other says its perfect, some say its ok for Piano n vocals, some say its mid is 'better' than 440 and also the 770, some say can fight with A700, some say even AKG 272 has the upper edge So what say u?

This headphone just nice balance headphone. good for recording user even listener....But if you give me a choice i just pick AD700 due to comfortable..

Yap..i've tried the AD700 and the comfort level is just outstanding...not too clampy nor does it too loose...ngam ngam pressure from the 'little' wings clamp... Got my M30 today.... Not as comfortable as I thought cause it does not cover my ears properly... Maybe my ears too big? LOL...
The music quite soft when I use it with MP3 player or iPhone... It's normal right due to it using more power?
Haha.. Haven't had eargasm for such a long time!! The Bass is quite Ok, not as bassy as many ppl claimed... Well this is just base on few minutes test with my Samsung S5 Mp3 player.. will test it with others later...
Added on November 4, 2010, 3:28 amIt doesn't perform as good on the laptop... limitations of laptop soundcard I guess... R&B songs are like urghhh... Still waiting for the e5 to come! Hopefully can have fireworks between these both gadgets LOL...

M30 is more or less a basic platform where the M50 has become...M30 (according to some post at head-fi) is natural sounding compared to the enhanced highs and low of the M50....So what you get from the M30 is a good tonal balance where the M50 will have a signification increase of highs and low freq...what the M50 lacks (in most post regarding it) is the ability to deliver a good mid range but there are mods that can help increase the mids around 10% better with a compensation of 5% decrease in the lows...

Will the E5 AMP improve the sound quality of M30 by much? For some R&B Hip Hop songs i was testing just now, the Bass seemed a bit sharp and overall Clarity of the instruments wasn't what I have expected it to be either... I have read the E5 being the improve these things so I went ahead and bought it as well... How long do I need to do the burning for it to be at its best?

How long do I need to do the burning for it to be at its best? save ur money and invest in a good DAC for ur lappy... for iphone, better save enough moolah and get better amp than e5... e5 will only tighten the details plus the bass boost could be heard but well... it wont be as good as what u think... as for me, m30 (i do own one... the only headphones i have ) should have more than enough details without amplifying it. so it means u want more from M30... and with fiio e5, i dont think u'll get the result that u wanted... just my thoughts anyways...

OMG, really? I already bought it and waiting for it to come >< I see you have similar combination as me... money is the prob lol.. Erm, I have just tried my M30 on my 7 year old creative muvo n200, it's still better than my iPhone LOL... Can see how bad is the sound card for iPods... I have a newbie question actually, how does a Digital-Analogue Converter improve sound quality?

QUOTE(eugenechiuu @ Nov 4 2010, 09:25 AM) I have a newbie question actually, how does a Digital-Analogue Converter improve sound quality? I don't think a DACs job is to improve sound quality, BUT a basic DAC will definitely not be so good in converting all those 0101010010101010 to analog which you may loose some details which make the song sound boring... Another way to look at it is by actually taking a DAC job and imagine that it is a graphics card....a cheap card can display decent output but will struggle at high resolution with 3D while a Quadfire HD5970 will indeed smoothen things out even at 5000 resolution....The same goes for a DAC...A normal one might not play 192kHz 24bit audio or it might skip some details during playback... This is why there a DAC which is cheap and there is those car prices like DAC

Well, just prepare to train ur ears to hear details changes, it do change somewhat for me but the amount of changes would not satisfy u enough lol. Well since u did bought the e5, i guess the only thing to do is to enjoy it.
