For ur budget... Going for D3000? If u planned to play 50mm f1.8, re-consider it. It won't AF on D3000. Unless u go for 50mm f1.4 or something like that else u need to manual focus for 50mm. Kit lens is fine.
But... design wise, d3000 has better grip design, more ergonomic.
D3000 no live view, a230 got

sony win N and C with entry level in-body AF and also in-body stabilization mechanism in this case.. to curb, always get a AF and IS/VR lens

I thought Sony A230 doesnt have live view while the A330 has the live view??

live view and tilt-able LCD to be exact..
and a330 ovf also smaller..

i notice most C brand lenses nowadays all VR/IS is a standard feature
