QUOTE(dvlzplayground @ Jun 16 2010, 03:46 PM) hm i just want some clarification here... this calibration thing only makes the 'battery info detector' (or whatever it's called haha) show u more accurate info about the battery right?
does it actually improve the battery lifetime?
nope it doenst improve the lifetime the only way to do that is to take care of it nicely, no other means.

QUOTE(baoz @ Jun 16 2010, 04:55 PM) I just ordered my 13" MBP, yay! Expected to ship next week. One Q on batteries since we're on it now. I usually use my laptop at home on my workstation so it's plugged in to AC power all the time. And I definitely would wanna extend my battery life as long as I can so... 1. Do I take out my battery as long as I'm plugged in?
2. If so, how many % should I leave it at when I take it out.. 100% or 50% or less? 1. you do realize its a non removable battery right? 2. best to leave it in AC as it doesnt overcharge the battery is cut of, remember to calibrate every 3 weeks to 1 month, use the battery when needed till it reaches below 5% then only charge and do us a favor by reading this up http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1490

QUOTE(baoz @ Jun 16 2010, 05:37 PM) Can you even see the battery from that picture. Please, it's just a mild question. Anyway, thanks for all the other constructive replies. mild question? come on, you said exactly this: sorry I haven't received my MBP yet I don't know how it looks like. >.< did you imply the battery? if yes make it clear and no, you cant look at the battery from my picture because you have to remove the back panel, all 10 screws to be exact, and the picture is still accurate in both assertions . A basic search in apple.com/mabookpro would have netted you all the info you need before you purchase anything. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting into first, since this not a RM1-2 item.

QUOTE(baoz @ Jun 16 2010, 05:47 PM) Look, I'm not a tech person. All I've found from the website so far is on how to calibrate the battery, not whether it's removable or not. Maybe I didn't read between the lines. And since most laptops can have their batteries removed, I would assume it's a standard thing. So I'm just asking a question about it before I receive my laptop. To me, it's not the most important criteria so I would have ordered it anyway regardless of being able to remove battery or not. look here, we dont expect you to be a techie, this is a very simple point, its just batteries. And the point im trying to make here is simple, make sure you go through everything that needs to be known about a product the good and the bad, and you dont have to read between the lines a little bit of attentiveness to this particular part in the spec listing says it all, you wouldnt ask this question if you have just paid a little attention to the easy to read material found here http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-13inch.html

QUOTE(Eithanius @ Jun 17 2010, 05:13 PM) Wow... I didn't know price drop, previously it was like RM359 or something.... Btw, is a MagSafe adaptor covered under ACPP... I've always thought MagSafes are like batteries, part of consumables, which are not covered under ACPP... its under accessories hehe, it must be accompanied by a its receipt.

QUOTE(Shoki @ Jun 17 2010, 07:14 PM) Thank you. I was searching for a cheaper alternative. it's best not to go cheap for a computer that costs a few thousands, if a thirdparty short-circuits your product or any harm its not covered by warranty bear that in mind. QUOTE(hapa @ Jun 18 2010, 11:58 PM) guys, my unibody macbook pro(2008)'s battery start swollen. not much but it is causing some prob. after remove the battery i can see the battery is not flat anymore. it causes my trackpad to become unresponsive sometimes, having difficulty to click on the trackpad bcoz the increase of the battery size underneath the trackpad. is there any ways to prevent it from swollen anymore?
my current battery info battery-loadcycles: 64 age of my mac: 18months current battery capacity: 90% nope there is no way you could do that, but your battery is quite old and has pass its one year warranty, what you could do is to call applecare and ask them about it, but tough luck you can only call em next monday. worst come to worst you have to get a new one.

QUOTE(bloggerblue @ Jun 19 2010, 12:11 AM) Call into Apple to see what they can do.
Your option, replace the LCD ( not really recommended )
or Buy a new machine instead..! he did indicate that it is accidental damage cause by him, human error is not covered under warranty. And there are still many people like Wei shod third party servicing, it doenst have to necessarily be a new buy.

QUOTE(esssymanex @ Jun 19 2010, 01:52 PM) Same here on Macbook 13" Late 2008. I think those batch got battery problem but Apple just ignore it. Have read through Apple Discussion Forum. Mostly got same problem. They know product defect but NO ACPP then NO Changing. Mine on 30 cycle only and hold 90% power and keep decreasing. you do understand the battery swelling is a standard safety feature on lithium ion polymer batteries right? They expand so that it doesnt leak or explode, it doenst necessarily mean its problematic and not may manufacturers warrant you after the first year since its a consumable part.
