Hello, may I ask where did you get your Nitecore TIP CRI? Seems like Gadgetworld does not carry them. Not quite sure which other sellers to look for this CRI version.

from gadgetworld... maybe u can ask them to try order one again?
cos usually i see they don't really restock older models.

Many thanks to RookieDaddy & power911 for replying and sharing smile.gif

Just to share, my use case is not actually colour reproduction (tho they are nice to have), it's actually for paint inspection for auto detailers (different from painters), in other words, for checking car paint for scratches, micro-marring, etc.

I mentioned the sun gun because a lot of detailers DIY their own sun gun as they found it good for paint inspection, hence I try to find 4700k LED light because they say that's what is used in the sun gun. Some other lights that detailers use are Scangrip lights, and some penlight by Rupes (polishing machine brand). So basically I try to find out their specs and look for torches with similar specs.

abit of an unusual recommendation here... but since that is ur requirements... how about those video led lights?
some have variable temperature control from 3000-5500 etc...
it's probably similar to the larger ones that u see in car workshops mounted on tripods etc... just that the video leds are of cos much smaller and portable.

I just bought my TIP2 from Gadgetworld.  thumbup.gif
And previously the TUP and the TIP 2017.
user posted image

These keychain lights are very convenient for EDC especially when there is a built in battery level indicator.

TUP is super useful as it's the same size like an Olight S1.
user posted image

All in all, really good value for money and convenience.

one thing that bugs me about tip2 is still old UI, and the magnetic tail cap while closed can still attract stuff.

tup meanwhile, the lcd is too fragile for keychain use...
tho its UI is better...
nightcore continues to troll us...

Yeah, I read some online some customers didn't like the UI for the TIP2 especially for the hold 2 seconds to switch on.
May I ask what kind of stuff your TIP2 attracts?
Do you mean coins? Or lint?  hmm.gif

For my TUP, generally I "dislike" the buttons. It's very easy to accidentally switch on while on Daily mode.  doh.gif
Same issue with the TINI.
*
coins.
The tip2 ui is the same as the tini tho... so also 2 secs to turn on..
at least the tup has a lockout mode... but still too big for keychain use.

Sometimes I don't get why people don't like the 2 seconds on.
Maybe 2 seconds is a bit long but I tend to accidentally on my tip keychain due to the instant on.
ohmy.gif
*
the 2secs doesn't bug me... but the not having direct access to low does since the power button is just memory mode.
anyway, the tini is still on my keychain.

my tips are the older version with lockout... never really bothered to get the newer ones with that daily / demo modes.

i still have a couple of i3e lying in a desk somewhere.
but yea, dont think i'll be going back to my i3e on my house keys for awhile...the tini is going to stay on it for awhile until it breaks down...
i also have the olight i1r on my car keys...as a backup to my backup...and since its so small and light it doesnt interfere.

mine was I couldn't find suitable o-rings so theres no friction for the astrolux a01 to grip.
none of the small o-rings I purchases fits it. The small thin ones require stretching and breaks, The perfect matched ones doesn't compress like Astrolux orings so i couldn't screw it in laugh.gif

did u try using Teflon tape?

nitecore mt22 is for me quite irritating to use.

for single light AAA single mode clicky... not really aware of many.
but for single AAA single mode twisty... can do no wrong than the olight i3e... rm40+ only.

i was actually thinking of buying it before, just to leave it in the car...but the ui always starts on high...so not too ideal.
in the end i decided on a manker e11...retiring the fenix ld01 which was there...cos that twisty head wasnt so reliable anymore.

Good modes too!  thumbup.gif

For this Manker E11, do you use primary AA NiMH or Eneloops? Or 14500?
*
i use the ikea "eneloop" tongue.gif
14500 while nice, i don't think can survive the heat in the car for very long.

do check where its manufactured from.
Depending on stock, the china variants are pretty meh in quality. Same process with eneloop, where once china it's basically 50% off in performance
*
got china ones now?
mine are pretty early, so all japan.
still got 1 unopened pack lying around...no more camera flashes to put into tongue.gif

its a hit or miss.
The white ikealoops are both japan or china made
the brown one are still mostly japan iirc

the classic green and silver is all china unsure.gif
*
mine are all white.
back then no one looked at the brown, cos not enough juice for flashes.
even for lights, I'm not sure why anyone would want brown anyway.

never say never. perhaps a tip2+? yeah, the clip is probably meant to be attached to the cap only. but even then i'd be wary...
*
i just think its a bad clip.
cos what if u knock the light attached to the cap...or worse a belt...say bye bye to the light tongue.gif

i agree. very impractical this clip. i'd be careful with the magnetic tailcap too. you may need some effort to remove the light from its tailcap, but if it gets snagged to say a branch or something, you can pretty much kiss ur tip2 bye.gif
*
i avoid magnetic stuff on keychains...
i read that the tail cap doesn't isolate the magnet enough, so the keys still stick to it... which also means any 10c coins...

yups, correct again. and i guess over time, the friction is gonna give your light some pretty neat 'battle scars'  whistling.gif
*
all my lights have battle scars... some can see to the bare aluminium.
also another reason for me to be anti-magnetic tailcap is cos i also keep magnetic access cards in the same pocket.

so yesterday i decided to buy a cheap light from mr diy just to leave near my house keys in case of black out etc...for a grand total of RM9.30 as they have a 50% promotion...
this is a typical china light that mr diy has rebranded and u can find similar ones in the market under different names just by searching 7102b...just probably not as cheap.
Attached Image

pictured beside one of my soda can lights the manker mk41...so yea as stated on the package its more of an emergency light to leave at home / camping etc...tho the light is a very cool white so not that ideal for camping.
Attached Image

due to its price everything about it is plastic, even the lens.
as for the beam pattern...there is some spill so u can still walk around at home in darkness...tho it would be better to use the twin tubes for that.
the torch lumens wise to my naked eye is somewhere around 200-300 lumens...
but guess due to it having a bigger reflector, along with a very tight hotspot about as wide as the lens...the throw is surprisingly almost as far as the manker mk41 which has a rated throw of around 400m with 4xAA at 1280 lumens...easily lighting up something up to 100m away looking like u are holding a very long light saber tongue.gif
Attached Image

anyway i mainly got it for it having the 2 tubes...and this does very well to light up a room or a toilet easily...giving out at least 100 lumens here...
u can also have the option to use just 1 of 2 tubes to save on battery life...which is stated up to 1.5 hours i guess at maximum output.
it also has a retractable hook on top so u can hang it on whatever.
Attached Image

now for the main drawbacks of this light...
apart from its plastic lens...
it obviously has a 1300mah built-in battery...but due to a 0.12A input...the charging time is 10 friggin hours...
also they recommend the battery to be re-charged every 3 months just to prevent battery degradation.
but heck, for rm9.30...i can live with all that...
