Marc Overmars was my favourite player back then. I was really angry that we flogged him off to Barca (alongside Petit who was another fav). But if we hadn't done that, then there wouldn't be Pires and Gilberto and there wouldn't be an invincible squad.

So far AW has made some questionable, but in hindsight, brilliant ins and outs for the squad, but the lack of "ins" the past few years have been quite sad really.

On the issue of C.Ronaldo, GH had wanted to give him a trial but a certain Phil Thompson didn't think he was worth the fee at the time. Can't say I regret us not having a go because I've always valued character over talent and I don't like him, talented as he may be. That being said, one can't help but wonder if we'd have won a title with him in our squad since we've been having problems acquiring decent wingers the past decade.

I still doubt why Benitez bought Glen Johson. I think JC does better at right back although his CB position where he's best at..

Oh Benitez !

Newcastle United biggest flop :

Michael Owen

- 17m for nothing.
- always injured.
- always invisible at front.
- 2 days after NUFC relegated..he helicoptered his family out of Newcastle.
- big wasted!

Xisco

- i have no idea why we pay 5.7m for this man??

Leon Best

- never score goals even he got lot of chances.
- his name not representing his ability.
- thx god 1m for this man and still warming bench.

Newcastle best transfers.

Jonas Gutierrez

- bargain buy
- speed-demon
- 1 of the main engine this season
- special celebration....spiderman mask

Wayne Routledge

- winger ace
- 1m transfer fee is worth for it
- fast,tricky,ability to shot

Mike Williamson

- another good transfer.
- tall and good at air.

other lads want to add some???

Selling Jaap Stam. We could have win the 4th consecutive title with him at the back in 2002.

Never cross Fergie.

We could have had our second CL as well, perhaps.

Arsenal fan here.

Best buy:
Fabregas? (I noticed nobody mentioned Captain Fab!)
No. 5 Verminator. (I definitely will not miss Toure. thx for 2003-2004 though.)

I miss:
Flamini (some say we have got Song now. But Flamini is versatile, does not whine, incredible workrate......etc etc etc.)
Bobby Pires
BERGKAMP! (Turn back his clock plz)

Off topic: played FM2010 wif Newcastle. Jonas aka Spiderman was great. smile.gif

If you could rewind the clock and stop your club from signing specific players or if you could call your gaffer and ask him to sign someone, who would it be? Hopefully we could keep this as realistic as possible and not go into the fantasy realms.

I'll start it off...
Call Sir Alex Ferguson to sign:
- van der Sar in 1999
- Wesley Sneijder in 2008 [could have been our Scholes]
- Fernando Torres [Ferguson thought he wouldn't make it consistently]
- Laurent Blanc [if we could have signed him earlier, I would have!]
- Pavel Nedved [one of the classiest players ever to play, heard we had money to sign him but opted not to sad.gif, if Fergie wanted a new European tactic, would have been perfect]

Call Sir Alex Ferguson to stop from signing:
- Barthez - that gift to Henry. Utter shit of a player. If there is a player I hate, it's him.
- Berbatov - not going to be 30 million well spent regardless of what happens. ZERO resale value and a Veron-esque failure.

I am pretty sure Torres himself did not want to come to OT. Sir Alex said it himself. smile.gif

SAF could not guarantee his 1st team place back then, so Barca benefit from it by winning the treble after he joined for the 1st season
