@mia: i think it's more like it reduces the temperature to a point...the C dropped is depending on driver also?? haha..

maybe tonight i'll do the 1cent mod

so....guys.....
just opened up again, and i had to sadly say, the 1cent mod cant be used on s42 GPU...simple because our gpu/heatsink gp isnt big enough to fit it...

however, i am curious at one thing, and did an experiment, replacing the thermal pad with TX-3 on the GPU..and guess what

5 minutes on furmark, and the temp was slowly increasing, from 83C to 94C at around 200 seconds, and the up till 300 seconds, the temperature is still 94C, never gone above it....i put it on my cooling pad, but didnt plug in the USB power, so not using the fan

imma test on higher settings later to stress more...

as for screen shot on furmark, here u go:

haha...changing to thermal paste doesnt only lower the peak temp, right now the temp also drop faster...and stable also, last time after gaming my idle temp is 63-64C, but now it's really constant 60C..but sometimes dunno why the powermizer will trigger full clock speed for like 30 seconds, that causes my GPU to go up to 63C again

with temperature improved that much..i can really just drop my worries on temperature liao...as long as i don OC, that is

lol...actually..the video i recorded was around 8 minutes...and actually cos 1 hand doing it also..
i decided to record because at one point when i need to use 2 hands the camera 'kiap' using my neck, and it drop down..and also i need to put down the cam a few times...mainly, it's cos i left out that screw on the heatsink fan part lol....
when i close back i was like 'eh...one extra screw one? shi...." then think back, i left out the heatsink one..

anyway got u guys to wanna disassemble, i suggest using the HDD casing tray as screw storage pad, cos that one got a lot petak petak..can put there easy to see which screw is from where

Added on April 21, 2010, 5:26 pmbtw, i edi unscrew all the bottom screws before the video recording, to save time...

Added on April 21, 2010, 5:33 pmbut just disclaimer first, my disassemble will not cover the LCD module...

yesterday open s42 up again, tried to apply 1cent mod to GPU mod, failed again, still, gap too small..had to use back thermal sticker

put back also, dunno why idle temp increased by 1C liao, and i tested furmark with 8x MSAA with my cooling pad, got 94C after 3-4 minutes...maybe last night my aircon not cold enough tongue.gif

but i tried some overclocked setting on PCSX2, before this that setting was giving me 81-84C liddat, and yesterday i tried, it's 77C~81C liddat...still very nice

also, i notice, our CPU aint using thermal pad, it's using thermal paste..that's why the cooling for CPU before this is quite good already XD

lolz...
miahaha knows me well

btw for the temp, not really mah....Dirt 2 98C also is air con room with cooling pad ler..i got see without cooling pad i think i saw 3 digit value on temperature before...quite scary
furmark also, last time i didnt really try on cooling pad, but i think it would be also 98C or so la, it's due to the less efficient heat transfer of thermal pad

Added on April 22, 2010, 10:31 am@lee: try intel burn test?

duwan use aluminum foil la..just use back thermal pad until i found another better solution

Added on April 22, 2010, 10:46 ambtw how much heat will the GPU ram generate? normally it's gonna be lower compared to GPU? how much would it affect if it has better cooling also?
if just minor boost then i think i wont be bothered...
