Tonight I can show you guys the pics of the outlet comparisons for all my eheim classic canisters.

The 2213 I'm using it on my 3ft tank as a 2nd filter. Coz I really didn't like the flow. Personally, I feel 2213 is ok for a simple planted tank setup. But you'll need better flow for a heavily planted tank.

And what type of fish you plan to keep? Some fishes really don't like strong currents while some will enjoy it.

aiya you are still a student, dun compare with us la...hahahah I am also using Resun what (for my other tank!) LOL

Ya lah. I'm uncle. So I'm allowed to spend a little more $$$ for my hobbies... tongue.gif

Think of it this way lah. If MIC brands there's a bigger chance it'll leak or break. Uncles can't handle this type of pressure. Mopping the floor will hurt my back lor. And getting nagged by my wife all day because the living room is flooded is just not worth the money saved!

But of course having an Eheim doesn't mean it's 100% safe.

Another thing to consider before buying a fan for your aquarium. The cheaper ones will take up room. And might end up blocking the lights for your aquarium. There are those rather expensive ones that you put at the side and they have a nozzle to channel the air flow into the tank.

Btw, anyone seen Horned Nerite Snails or Sulawesi Snails for sale anywhere?

Anyone got Malaysian Trumpet snail ?
*
We normally get rid of them instead of putting them into the tank tongue.gif You got a puffer or something?

Anyway, just go to most of the main LFS that deals with planted tanks. They should have them in some of the tanks that are holding the plants.

If you need algae control, you'll need Otos and Nerite Snails. Trumpet snails... erm, you'll end up with other problems.

I like watching yamato shrimps too. They very quick to pick up any food I drop in and then running to a hideout to eat peacefully. Very fast, considering I have a lot of bottom dwelling fish in that aquarium. Here's one of them hiding among the Blyxa Japonica bushes to consume the a piece of algae wafer.

i like that plant^^
but it grow slow is it?
mine one never get longer..

I love this plant. Didn't take long to grow them for me. Having root tabs helps speed things up. At one point I have too many of them that they crowded the tank.

This pic was taken a few weeks AFTER trimming the Blyxa and replanting some of them.

Not that great ler. I neglected it and didn't give proper fertilization or maintenance. The plants are healthy, except maybe the lotus and glosso, but really not good in terms of aquascaping.

The scissors? RM30-RM50 i think when I got it a few years ago. You can go for cheaper stainless steel ones that I used when I started out. Then I got scared it might leech something bad into the aquarium.

I think there's still the Ocean Free set that comes with tweezers and scissors.

The aquarium sets are really decent price.

RM107 for a 2ft cabinet, RM3xx for a used 4ft bow front aquarium and RM140 for a GENOAH set with HOB and light.

Lighting set is nothing great. Got a MIC clip on that takes up too much space IMHO.

The eheim HOB is the old model prior to the Liberty series. Not as good looking, but it's working fine. Big advantage for me in this old Eheim HOB is that I can customize my filter media much easier than the current Liberty models.

@chuppy2
LoL. Teasing shots. Can't wait to see the full tank!

@elainor
Yep! That's what I'm looking for. Thanks!

@radver
Looks like nutrient deficiency, causing the leaves to die off. Perhaps you can share with us your setup?

Added on May 31, 2010, 1:28 amSaw this planted arowana tank. Really, really beautiful with the colour contrast.

A type of fast growing aquatic plant. Absorbs nutrients rather quickly too.

They're called Clithon Corona, btw. My fav aquarium snails.

I use a small circular sponge from 88 sunwaymas and cut a slit down the middle of the sponge. Then I just pull the sponge up to cover the strainer of the inlet.

Overfeeding will cause algae.

A healthy oto is should have a rounded belly. You're getting algae? Can share with us the light that you are using? And how old is your current tank setup?

Another option for a good algae eater is Nerite Snails. And to me, Yamato Shrimps are more hardworking than cherry shrimps though.

Try a gang of Nerite snails. They're my favourite algae eaters.
