Good observation on Bentner, but if Bentner were to play the flank, to whom does the cross goes to? Both Dudu and Walcott aren't exactly tall gentlemen. If Wenger were to experiment on such position against Barcelona, I'm afraid Wenger will be made the fool of the season. I say we continue with a tried and tested formula. Anything fancy will might prove disastrous for us. I gotta feeling its going to be another open game next Tuesday. Worrying too much on our defense ain't gonna help much coz like it or not, we have to put our trust in either Sol, Silvestre or Song.
What we can instead ponder on is our attacking choice. This is where Wenger's strategies will come to mind. Barca clearly has several weaknesses in their defence, what's more with the loss of their talisman Puyol and Pique. If we play our cards right, we should be able to score 2 goals or even more. The question then is, how many would we conceed in an open game.... |

I say put in Bentner in 2nd half. At least Walcott's crosses wouldn't go to waste. Sheess.....if Eduardo continue 2nd half, he should drop down to the middle as SS to Bentner. Then again, Vela could also do that.

Seriously guys, I don't bother to comment on anything about the team at all. Tonight, I soaked up the drama to the full. It was damn hell frustrating for sure! But the last minute, I also had my conscious tells me that its all over for the Gunners.
Then came the goal. It was superb, it was amazing.....and it took me a solid 5 second to muster my rage and scream..."SCOOOORRREEE!!!!!!!!!!". It was exactly the same emotion I felt with the crowd at the Emirates. |

Did you guys saw Silvestre moment of brilliance where he sneaked past Wolves defense and cross in front of the goal only for Dudu to miss the chance? In fact, Silvestre had a few shots on goal and a header as well. I was quite surprised that both our CB joined the attack throughout the game. From what I can see, we didn't miss Gallas at all last night. Umm wait....what position was Silvestre last night? Was it CB or LB?

Personally I feel both Walcott and Nasri are impact players that can make a difference in the second half. Most times, Nasri in the starting eleven would fade after the second half. Then again, if they have the better stamina against a senior Barcelona team, then by all means they should start.
Worst case scenario if both Walcott and Nasri fail to make any impact on the game, what is Plan B for us? Vela and Dudu? hmm....not good. |

I don't see anything wrong with Le Prof putting Dudu in the game. If anything, its the best time to give Dudu the chance to play more games. There is no denying he is nowhere near his best, and that is why more exposure and time is needed. Have some faith guys, Dudu will in time shine once more. I'd even give him another season to prove his worth once again.

Yes, I know the crosses are ineffective without a tall striker. I was thinking perhaps Wenger wants to see what Dudu can do in the game. Having Bendtner as a sub would play as Plan B for the team. In other words, we don't have that much choice up front. Next season, hope to see RVP, Bendtner and Chamakh winning the air for our crosses.

QUOTE(Walaoeh! @ Apr 5 2010, 12:18 AM) Yep, I think so too. No use expecting them to work miracles when even Birmingham manage to tame them easily. Still can't believe Liverpool was genuine title contender last season, suddenly this season looks so.........ngahh! Among all other club fans, Liverpool fans are ones I can get along with. |

QUOTE(Walaoeh! @ Apr 5 2010, 01:50 AM) somemore liverpool fans themselves oso hope they lose to Chelsea... I don't know which is more painful for Liverpool fans....losing 4th place or allowing Man Utd winning for the 19th time. If they beat Chelsea, Man Utd might win the league, if they lose to Chelsea, they will lose 4th place (even th place). Sheesh....I'm glad I'm not a Liverpool fan right now. I couldn't stand the bottom of the morale point.in hope for benitez to be sacked after that.. Added on April 5, 2010, 1:52 am i think guardiola must already have plan to tame walcott... |

Next season we still need as much striker as we have, coz its common to see our squad thinning out by the end of the season. This season is a glaring example of that. damn scary to think if more injuries to happen, dunno who else to put up front. Silvestre???? Perish the thought!

QUOTE(kimhoong @ Apr 5 2010, 01:20 PM) Overall, I agree with your rants Most times I'd only post my thoughts when the trolls are not around. Its nice to read some solid feedbacks and opinions from fellow forumers here. Worst moments were when all the dupes/trolls hijack the thread to post stupid and provoking one liners. One particular time was after the Chelsea - Arsenal match. ZOMG that time Arsenal thread reeks of malicious comments! I'd just lay off the thread wait for a few days when the sane comes back to play.No doubt certain clubs have advantages (somehow) over the others... ... sometime I "believe" the referees and FA/UEFA/FIFA knows all about these but they are shutting up because want to make the competition more "human" and "biased" to certain extent. There are few things that we know is good for the game but are rejected/"still" under observation: 1. Video-assisted refereeing 2. More referees 3. NOT selective Witch hunt video in punishing players after the match (If they want it, they should apply it to EVERY matches) Regarding injuries, although I am frustrated as a Arsenal fans, I would say that we are (sadly) "unlucky". To be fair, every team starts the season equally. If you do not get enough man, you should get them enough before the season starts. However, there were something that have been against Arsenal for a long time: 1. Unnecessary and unfriendly International friendly matches that cause injuries and fatigues (despite all the protests and complaints) 2. Unfriendly, rugby-like challenges on our players - and get away with-out or -little punishment. ... regarding MU fans, since they are the largest in Malaysia/Asia, there will be more spoiled apples among them. Not ALL of them are bad, I would only say some of them are. Lastly, please STOP thinking that Arsenal thread is "our" thread and MU/Liverpool/Chelsea thread is "their" thread. LYN is public forum. All LYN threads are meant for public viewing - and posting. Nobody owns LYN, except Vijandren Ramadass. Therefore, please behave yourselves (everyone) as if you are on the street. Thanks for your attention Anyway, if I wanted to corrode my brain, I can simply visit the 'matured' thread. |
