realy ? weird , id get different awnsers on my end . They say warranty wont be void , but warranty just wont cover the new hardware thats all, but thats when i ask for ram , hardisk , gpu and cpu , didnt ask about mobo .

get use to it , technology advance very fast..

but they will know the 'original' items in your lappy based on your service tag...you can go to dell's website and put your service tag and there you u will see the original configuration and current configuration of your lappy....if they see that your lappy has been unofficially upgraded apart from the RAM and hard disk...the warranty will be void....unless you change back to original cpu or gpu when u send it back for warranty....

isnt this will put up the price as well.. price is one of the main attraction for the M11x.. at least for me..

I can confirm the previous external BD-Writer works beautifully with the M11X. the included Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 that comes with the M11X has BD playback capability, and it plays my most recent BD, "2012" perfectly. And it runs only on USB power.

Anyone who wants me to help them get this external BD drive, I'll see when I'm going to Tokyo again. The model is IOData BRP-UP6.

yes,we are talking abt home use pc and laptops..
what are the "omg so important infos" are in our laptops anyways..
so dont worry abt those kind of viruses..
most of the viruses that infect our pc are those which slows our system down..but like puto said,it wont effect as much since our laptops (ALIENWARE!) are high end products..
i agreed when puto said anti-viruses only slows down ur computer..
this is because eventho u use anti-virus,ur pc will still get infected anyways..
fyi,viruses are made by anti-virus companies..so that they would have competetive advantage over their competitors..(make virus that no other anti-virus can detect except theirs)
so..as conclusion..absolutely no use..

I think the turning point to talking about antivirus here is when some claim BOLDLY that you dont need one. I don't see them being careful with their internet activities and their download patterns, otherwise I would agree that antiviruses are not necessary.

My M15X has ZERO antivirus app now, but I ran it SPECIFICALLY just for games, and patches and downloads are done from trusted sources. It ran without a hitch right to this moment. If you can deal with it this way, then yes, skip the AV. The moment you dabble with cracked .exe files, patches from unknown sources and the likes, you're like leaving your front door open with no locks on.

and btw, ur m17x temperature ever reach  more than 70 when playin demanding games?

im not sure bout doc , but mine standard is 78-80 on most games when using stock cooling units.

oo... okay okay i think. mine's about 60 for gpu and 55 for cpu . i think its okay for that range. but im using a cooler, to increase and improve air ventilation below my laptop.

btw, u know where got sell rubber feet for laptops? wanna stick on my m11x to increase it's height.

For Nvidia, the performance of desktop and mobile of same model differ a lot.
While for ATi, the difference not as much as Nvidia

we m17x user only have 1 hour on battery u know ...
well , id say is nothing wrong with your lappy , just plug in an ac if u wanna go hardcore gaming

Problems with my screen. bulging out at the right bottom:

from game lagging issue->bottom side uneven->screen problem. == . seriously alienware needs better QC for such premium product. btw, went to All-IT to look for laptops. kinda disappointed with the material m11x made of. even customers around there complain that the m11x is so made-in-china look due to its built quality. Wonder why they don't use magnesium alloy.

To install the latest 197.16 official drivers on a M11X u need to go to ur bios, set ur graphics to discreet, then only u can install. IF u use the hybrid u can't install it, forever u will get error coz the intel graphics will interfere with your graphics. And even if u can make it work u can't switch ur gpu anymore. I tried this on a M11x. 
Running the 197.16 3dmark got around 64xx gain from 61xx, was tested on a demo unit with a SU4100 processor. The memory only 3gb, duno if it would make any more diff if 4gb.

i just bought a m15x recently, and i have this problem i cant seem to solve it.
i am always using my razer deathadder mouse, everytime i unplug it, the touchpad doesnt work, tried using Fn+F12, the touchpad blinked and thats it.
tried disabling my razer mouse, its still the same, anyone had this issue before?

he will be posting pictures to tutor him for his touchpad problem
