QUOTE(project-o @ Apr 6 2010, 10:58 PM) Would like to offer a different opinion on this. In my opinion, the 18-105VR or the older 18-135 lens is the ideal "partner" lens for the 70-300VR lens as they have more or less the same sharpness and image quality. The 70-300 due to crop factor becomes 105-450 on a DX body(range becomes 18-105 then 105-450). mm u're wrong... all lens must times the crop factor for cropped sensor bodies. so 18-105 + 70-300 will be 27-157 + 105-450. there's a duplicate range of 105-157 (or 70-105 on FX), that's y i think it's a bad comboFor a single lens solution, I feel 18-200VRII or a used copy of the older model should be a good choice to cover a wide range. common misunderstanding |

HDR is high dynamic range lah... not high definition
any photo got certain range of luminosity, from the darkest part of the photo to the brightest part. so the range from the darkest to brightest part is called the Dynamic Range lah. but for cameras, the range is very small compared to our eyes. try go out during noon n take picture. always end up either subject lighting ok but sky too bright, or sky okay but subject too dark. our eyes dun have this problem, everything looks ok, bcause we have higher dynamic range compared to camera so this HDR processing is a fake way of achieving a higher dynamic range on a camera. done by separately setting the camera to capture the top part of the range and the bottom part of the range. from my previous example, it's taking a photo of the subject-ok-but-sky-too-bright, then take photo of sky-ok-but-subject-too-dark, and combine both in photoshop. tada~ This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Apr 21 2010, 02:13 AM |

QUOTE(wravez @ Apr 21 2010, 02:15 AM) guys, i got something wanna ask. Just now me and my fren drinking in a pub. It is very dark but i put iso 3200 and use flash will be okay. But sometimes cant snap, the lens zoom in zoom out zoom in zoom out again and then cant shoot. How come like this ar? the lens is actually focusing in and out..not zooming. SLRs can never zoom themselves, need our hand to turn u cant snap because ur camera was having difficulties to focus. since it's dark, the camera doesnt see anything so it doesnt know what to focus on. u shud turn on AF assist light for this situation, a small bulb in front of ur camera will light up ur subject for awhile to help the camera focus |

QUOTE(Kent3888 @ Apr 21 2010, 02:40 AM) Thanks for ur fantastic explanation bro.... btw is there any photoshop tutorials u have there guiding how to combine 2 pics of different dynamic range? =D easy way: http://www.photoshopcafe.com/tutorials/HDR_ps/hdr-ps.htmHow to turn on the AF assist light manually?? for D5000? if u're interested to understand more about HDR can go here. the "HDR tonal mapping" part at the bottom is a better way to create HDR images, but quite pening la heheh http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials...namic-range.htm worst disease about HDR is ppl tend to overdo it~ about the AF assist light maybe some1 with a D5000 can help u with it. i can't~ ;p |

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Apr 27 2010, 11:57 PM) You really don't understand what are we getting at? agree2 hehehe... juz play with what we have 1st. even d3000 with kit lens can take very nice photos already. the more you shoot, the better you can identify what gear u need next. not everyone go the same upgrade pathFLASH and LENSES are considered your gears as well. Need not so much high end gears or "friends" for your gear. With the price less than a new D3000 like you, last time i started with a D40 kit 2nd hand and a cheap nissin di622 flash. total less than 1.7k. then i keep shooting for over a year. I don't dare to say I have great photos but I keep shooting without thinking that "my gears not enough, i can't shoot now..." now, just go shoot more. You just got your d3k and you want lens lah.. flash lah... Learn with what you have first and when you think your gears LOSE to your skill, only you think of upgrading =D me, i like portraits. so i got myself a fast lens. now still like to take portraits, but paiseh wanna shoot strangers from close distance |
