that you need to ask yourself , whether you are ok with changing lense ? when shooting .

18-55 55-200 combo still cover you 18-200mm
*
hmm.gif don't say like that la.. there's a reason why lens range varies so much. else why'd they put so much R&R into it. 18-200 is like 11x magnification. it's ok if u need such a wide all-rounder but it's just not sharp enough. (sry i complain too much)

sifu DA once said, use prime and move ur ass thumbup.gif

QUOTE(dvlzplayground @ Apr 5 2010, 04:33 PM)
AF-S 50mm is different purpose. if u want 50mm, juz get it...no point comparing to 55-200 n 18-200 tongue.gif if budget constraint get 35mm 1.8, less than half the price of 50mm 1.4 AFS and easier to use in small room biggrin.gif

so 18-55 + 55-200 combo.. cheaper than 18-200, but need to bring 2 things :S so even 18-55 n 55-200 is lighter than the 18-200... combined 18-55 and 55-200 is heavier n need bigger bag~ the combo supposedly give u better quality pics lah, but for me i wont notice the difference hehehe

since u're thinking of 55-200 and have the money for 18-200... consider the 70-300 VR too smile.gif

is there a place in Miri to rent (or borrow? ;p) 10/12-24mm AFS?

or buy.. rclxms.gif

edministrator, it is ok.. bt as u can see at 200mm it lacks of sharpness already due to it;s magnification. but it's still a good allrounder

2.8K for VR2 but if 2.5K is ok..

70-200 VR2 is at 6.95K but the sharpness and the constant aperture.. biggrin.gif

OH yes, it`s okay for me.....
the price you stated is VR or VR II?

18-55 is only rm350-400 cry.gif
*
if u really want something good allrounder and u dun need the 100-200 range, get the 18105 VR instead. it's sharper than 1855 and 18135. u can sell ur 1855..

QUOTE(edministrator @ Apr 5 2010, 11:18 PM)
many reviews says D300/D300s + 18-200mm VR is a reporter's/traveller's deadly combo, due to D300s ability to shoot low noise @ hi iso to compensate this slower variable aperture lens  wink.gif
*
I reporter doesn't need that much of a sharp image if they're job r like stalking etc etc. What if you're doing pro modelling or wedding or event specialization? U can't exact a soft image to be used for large prints to begin with no?

QUOTE(dvlzplayground @ Apr 5 2010, 11:29 PM)
whoa wait wait wait... bad idea there. if u wanna get 70-300, dun get 18-105... no use having duplicate range of 70-105

if u want 70-300, juz keep with ur 18-55 kit lens. missing 55-70mm not much problem. for ~RM2700 i think better get Tamron 17-50 VC and SB600 flash. but then u'll end up with two lens... i thought u said u only want 1 lens?
ur 80-200 can only manual focus, and maximum aperture is f4. 70-200 can autofocus on D3000, and maximum aperture is F2.8 n got VR summore. big big difference
what body u using? if D40-D5000 then cheapest 50mm is the 50mm AF-S f1.4, RM1800 biggrin.gif
*
d90 also within your d40-d5000 le tongue.gif

I didn't recommend the 1760 vc because 1750vc is a little short to begin with. That's the darn sad part sad.gif
