Wah shocking.gif , this is real bad, was it raining or thundering at that moment ? Do you have similar problem before upgrade to B.yond?
If not, could it be faulty decoder ? Does anyone here also encountered this?

Really want to know what causes and remedy action .....
*
It happen on sunny day. Between 11am & 4pm. Old decoder has no problem. Has been 2 weeks. Weird thing is only some SD channel are affected. sweat.gif

But I thought you already have a cooler master underneath the decoder? Is it still over-heat problem ? unsure.gif
So it means hot weather also cause such problem on B'yond .... it sounds worry man ......

May be you should call Astro if possible exchange another 1 and try first ?! icon_question.gif
*
I did. And it wasn't on over-heat faulty and the problem was it only happen during that time. nod.gif

from your youtube you are using old decoder

what is the signal quality? are you sharing dish via splitter?

looks like cable problem, change the RG-6 cable and/or re-terminate F-connectors, make sure f-connectors are screw tight on the lnb and the decoder
*
No. That's the example.

How do i change RG-6 cable and/or re-terminate F-connectors? Called Astro CS?

so you are having screen broken-up problem in your byond box?

did the installer change the new rg-6 cable for you?

what is the signal quality for both satellites (1 and 18)?

is your cable running from lnb to byond box directly without going through cable join?

can you snap a picture of the f-connector at the byond box end.
*
Yes. Certain channel during certain time

No.

1= Below 200 18= 206-217

Yes

the thing is that every time astro technician come to your house, they will charge you RM50 standard service charge.

you can try contacting astro and talk your way out of paying RM50 service charge, stating the fact that your byond box has lifetime warranty

Does it work? Has someone try it before?

try complaining to astro, saying something like the installer did not do the job properly by changing to new cable,  and you demand that the problem must be fixed without paying the RM50 service charge, good luck sweat.gif

did the installer leave you with 20m brand new cable? you could ask you local electrical shop to install the cable for you may be paying a cheaper install fee.
*
I did asked about the service charge and that's depent when discussed with Ast Installer.

Strange, if it's cable problem, why it only happen on certain hours in the afternoon ? hmm.gif
They did not give you the new 20m cable?

At first I thought can use back the existing cable but I was told it is better to use the new one meant for the B'yond --> that was my initial worry because it's going to be very messy from roof into hall .....
*
My current cable was only 1 month when changed to b.yond. Astro CS said i've to call when the problem happen and probably they send technician to check and perhaps then maybe can replace the current cable. I think so. laugh.gif

Just wonder, is B'yond using the exact same type of cable as compare to current decoder?
Wah, if really need to change the cable, then messy again, from roof to hall ...... rclxub.gif
*
If using RG-6 cable from electronic stores... I think, none of this problem had happen if Astro give RG-6 cable for old and B.yond decoder instead brows.gif

Added on April 14, 2010, 3:42 amQash-M,

Is it true ur signal problem occurs during afternoons only?
Well my grandparents Astro had a similar problem
After 7pm  right until the next morning around 7am, some channels would not be available and some will have bad signal
Like channel 103,501,502 would have signal problems..119 would go blank all together..
I called Astro for assistance and the tech guy came..
What happened was that the dish had slightly changed direction..
Means moved a bit..
So the installer came and fixed it without taking any service charge..coz he said it wasnt a matter of changing stuff
So maybe ur facing the same problem
Dont go changing cables coz it wont guarantee ur problem will be solved
*
Ok. I did make a report about it. Then i realized that when i take old copper wire i put over the dish, the problem solved. So, what other excuses i have too?

sincere apologies for causing some sidetracking of the topic....just wanted to clarify certain misconception of the channels available on the Astro platform, i.e. whether subtitles are available on HBO HD channel.

HBO HD only has Chinese, Thai & Indo subtitles - a fren has confirmed no English or bahasa subtitles.

Also, HBO Family, HBO Hits & HBO Signature are all in SD contrary to someone who commented in an earlier posts that they are in HD.

Btw, BBC World News & DW-TV are in widescreen format….if u are still getting them in 4:3, demand Astro to offer in widescreed SD 16:9.

http://www.ocworkbench.com/2009/starhub/St...e-screen/g1.htm

Let me know if you need me to answer any channel queries.

I hand over the forum back to all.

Cheers & Enjoy the World Cup!  biggrin.gif

That's it. Widescreen channel doesn't have to be in HD. SD is fine too. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Guys! I am having this strange problem with Beyond. The satellite signal is not locked and there's no signal reading but i am getting the pictures!!I called the Astro fellas and they sent a Tech the next day to troubleshoot, it seems that this problem is "normal" and Astro is doing some tests and he suggested that i use the 8th or 18th Band to tune in and the signal bounced back to normal on those bands but the next day same thing happened on both bands. Yesterday i "rebooted" the decoder and i got back the signals. lol Any of u guys having this kinda problem? To be fair - broadcast is stable even when it's raining no pixelisations or disruptions..
*
Mine too. Although i didn't call them for that. smile.gif

Is it true that when you're cooling the satellite LNB with hydrogen, you'll be better reception? icon_question.gif

I don't think so.. because LNB does not generate so much heat (or maybe not at all) compared to computer Processor....

QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 16 2010, 12:02 AM)
Finally, I'm Beyonder  rclxms.gif

I just leave it on for almost 10 hours straight without any cooler, try to "warm" this guy up  tongue.gif
Yes, it's real hot underneath it....

The installer use the 20m new cable come with the package, luckily it's just nice and no need to extend further.
After the new disc & decoder installed, took him 2min to configure signals, then wait for another 10min and walla ..... ACTIVATED ... that was fast !! drool.gif

- I'm rather surprised to see the size is so small, half of the previous!
- I leave it on from 1pm until now still running without any cooler and yes, it's REAL hot underneath it!
- So far no signal interruption, may be still new laugh.gif
- The HD is really impressive, just like DVD quality drool.gif
- For SD, overall better than the old decoder, but it seem like there are few channels even clearer ... may be I'm blur after so many hours ... will check & re-confirm again.

So far very happy, still got the excitement  brows.gif

However, I noticed:

1. The boot-up time is quite long, almost 2min, is it normal?

2. The sound seem to be rather weak. Previously I only use around level 20~23 on my TV, but now I have to increase to almost 32~35 for same level of listening, I also tried the following but till the same:
- adjust the Byong volume to maximum
- audio setting = Stereo (Analogue+Digital)
- change HDMI cable and try on different HDMI inputs on TV

3. Each time power off and on again, the last volumn level setting on the decoder gone again, then have to maximise again....

Does anyone has the above issues ?
I applied B'yond through cam40729 @ http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1358625
He submitted for me on Monday and now up & running, all within 4 working days only, pretty fast I must say ! rclxms.gif
