Basic salary Rm 1500 which is quite high for Diploma student without work experience. But they didn't take me permanently which is what they promise at the beginning. Not because I'm doing bad job or what it just the bigger boss what to cut cost and don't want new employee. The bigger boss don't know / don't care about the promise wink.gif

If you have a Degree, they will pay you around RM2200 basic... not too bad... and try to work yourself up from there... most banks are similar nowadays. You need to take care of yourself, not asking the bank to spoon feed or take care of you before you have any result.

I saw ambank HR today. I applied for a job under project management. i asked for 2500 minumum starting pay. they said its normal for a fresh grad from an overseas university to get 2500-2800. its not bad since i dont do well in exams, however i can talk my way out of a contract with the devil if i wanted to.

you arent really explaining why. all you sound like is a disgruntled employee. you are probably one of those people that go home at 5.30pm
so far im having a good experience at ambank. my co-workers and bosses are friendly. i get a lot of work. its my 3rd week and im staying back until 10pm. if you arent willing to put in the hours and just treat it as a job you arent going to get anywhere.

why laugh at other people for being hardworking? Are you not hardworking yourself?

Each jobs has its own ups and downs. But before that, do you even have a job that you can be laughing at others?

Hi...
Also got offer from Ambank...but already accept offer from another MNC company at Damansara Height which is offer me about 16% more than Ambank. The another company will not give bonuses but only high increment( not sure how high it is) and 1 one month salary insentive every 3 years, parking RM400, Dental RM800. I heard Ambank can give many month bonuses ( easily can get 1-3 months bonus ) every year.

I'm delemma whether to accept ambank offer or proceed with another company. Any opinion?

1-3months bonus is a bit low for banks in my opinion. Banks bonus is usually much higher than that even if you are not under IB

one to three months seems right. 7 months sounds close to impossible. IT is there just to support the business. The bank would much rather choose to give a 7 month bonus to a trader than an IT staff. where do you work? TF3?

working environment in AmBank is okay. everyone is friendly. unfortunately i think this bank might not be as performance based as other bigger banks. I see a lot of lazy people around.

In AmBank 7 months bonus are usually only applicable to people who doing sales. While for IT average is only 1 month bonus.

Actually there are also a few support staffs at Yap Kwan Sheng as well. Well Tropicana are mostly all the network guy, server administrator and db administrator placed. While other people in Raja Chualan and Yap Kwan Sheng mostly into Project managament or software development stuff.

It took them 3 months to get back to you? That's outrageously long. Most people would have found a job by then.

I applied for a position within Ambank's investment banking arm only 2 weeks ago LOL.

I've been interviewed by AmBank's subsidiary last month and took 3 tests which I believe I didn't do very well. Luckily I've been called by AmBank Group's hr personnel within 2/3 weeks after the first session and called for the 2nd interview with the hr. Asked the hr how many people were selected for the 2nd session, the hr said that I am the only one and it supposed to be the final interview (which I don't really understand what final interview means - some ppl said it is for the hr to concur). Thus, I went to the 2nd interview, further discussed on hr matters and the main concern of hr I believe was about the salary. It went well and I asked the hr bout my current status directly - "What is my status now? Am I accepted? Or..?" and the hr personnel said "Basically yes, you are accepted by the hiring department and recommened by the hiring department as well, and we are to get the final hr approval as to confirm the hiring". And she said it will take another 2/3 weeks to revert back as to prepare everything and get the 'signatures'. What do you think? Am I getting the job? Or still 50-50? sweat.gif

I dont have much respect for HR. After my boss interviewed me, the HR interview was more of a formality. Interviewed by a lady with not great english and couldnt even ask the right questions. It took me 1 and a half weeks to get the offer letter after the HR interview. Would have taken longer if my boss didnt push for it.

My bosses tried to confirm me early. HR only put out the notice 2 months later and by that time I had finished my 6 months probation. More so, they found it fit to reduce the raise my bosses were willing to give me. Im not disappointed about the money im getting cause im quite comfortable with what i have. However I see my raise as a reflection of my performance at work and what my bosses think of me. I would think if my bosses were happy with me they would go the extra mile to make me stay. HR who has never seen me after my interview has the final say on it.

I also had some trouble getting my portal stuff set up. Turns out you cant call HR at 5.30, they have all left the office by then.

Agree. I met my future boss and took the entry tests within 1 week of the interview. But it took HR almost a month to get back to me with the offer letter despite my boss hounding them.

But this problem is not unique to AmBank. I applied to 2 other banks around the same time, and they also took about 1 - 1.5 months to reply with an offer letter as well.

Do you think I should contact the hiring department giving them some ideas as to push the hr to expedite?

During my interview the hr also tried to reduce my expected figure. She said, it would be easier to get the approval if I'm willing to reduce my expected salary. While I didnt really requested such high increament. It was only few hundreds higher than my current income. I've applied that job not particularly because of money, but I wish to gain more knowledge and get back into banking industry as I've workded with other local bank before. But it wouldn't offer me to low to jump. Thus, I only asked the interviewer, "Well considering all the benefits that I've gained frm my current company, additional transportation cost if I move to AmBank and so forth, would you think I should reduce my expected salary? Maybe you can further advice on the salary range here?". Then only she said the expected salary is ok and she also claimed the hiring department recommended to offer me the exact figure that I've requested.

But still, I'm worried. Afraid if there is any problem that to cause the hr to reject my application. Hmmm...

If you have a good rapport with the hiring manager, sure, give the fellow a call and ask him what is the status.

Or you could follow-up again with HR as well. No harm done.

Some say it annoys HR, some says it shows you are keen on the job. I cbf-ed. I just want to stop wasting time tongue.gif

I'm with AM IB. 1st interview was on first week Oct 2008, 2nd int with my boss at end of oct. HR int & test mid Nov. Offer letter came out early Jan 2009 huh.gif

AmBank HR is damn very slow. It's either the department boss or you yourself have to call and follow up.

You will need to take a test organised by Deloitte Consulting. It's a test to evaluate your analytical skills.

4 sets, one set got over 100 question. 2 minutes to finish each set.
Impossible to complete. The objective is just to get as many right as possible in the set time.

Example: In the following sets, which number is in the middle of the sequence:-

3 8 5 = 5
9 7 2 = 7
1 3 5 = 5

Jane is taller than Bob, Bob is taller than Max, who is tallest? = Jane

Questions like these. Very simple easy to answer. Just need to think quick and be efficient.

I am not sure if this test is only for evaluating management and senior personnel but most of my peers who joined have taken it.

QUOTE(@pit @ Oct 7 2010, 04:21 AM)
Or still 50-50?  sweat.gif
*
have you got the offer letter? im being told the same thing about the signatures too..and waiting to be call up for body checkup.. unsure.gif

The salary is based on the budget from the hiring department. I did ask for an increase a bit on salary, but hiring dprt won't allowed the salary adjustment.

It isn't the salary is the main decision that I decline, it is because I don't see any progress in my career growth working in that position (more like a dead end job).

Hi,

I just got the offer letter by today....My 1st interview was on Mar, 2nd interview was on May....The HR process is terrible slow.
But regarding to the staff benefit, it is quite less if compare if others bank. Even no optical claim....However, I still choose it as my future career as I believe it will getting better. But my boss told me the bonus is quite good, atleast 4-6mths, but, depends on your performance also. Some of the staff will get adjustment after confirmation, but Im NOT....I believe the benefit package offered is customized and difference.

It is nearly 3mth.. As in between I was accepted HLB offered but last minute I decline HLB, as I heard many ppl said HLB is workholic company, everyone has to stay back until very late....

So, I still give myself a chance to Ambank... Hope I would regret...

You should give urself a chance as well. I heard HR said average can get 3mths bonus...This is most attractive me so far...

AmBank employee? can provide me any update on the increment / bonus trends etc? More specifically, transaction banking - channel development

Lets assume if one's probation ends on 31st March, will the person be entitled for bonus?

Nope, but I had an interview there the other day for a risk mgmt role. The interviewer said if i joined in Nov, then come Mar next yr, i can get pro-rated bonus (based on the 5 mths).

You should raise this question when you're meeting the HR for interview. Not familiar with channel dvlpment.

I got an offer for RM position in AMBank, but it seems like there is a threshold whereby RM need to sell RM 5000 worth of AM Takaful in order to entitle for any other commission.

Is it tough to sell insurance in AMBank? icon_question.gif

Hi yawchoong,
Jalan Raja Chulan is head office not a branch.
Advice for inteview is do home work before go there. You can google Common Interview Question.
Example what is your strength , what you can do for Ambank, tell you how your previous working environment, how you handle stress, ...

Account department: Account Knowledge , then familair any Bank Accounting System.
Employee Benefit: Staff Loan, EPF contribution employee giving higher rate, FD rate, Staff Annual Leave higher, Bonus...
Working experience: will aded value,
Alot candidate also in the interview in the same time. Good luck.
Salary..i dunno maybe minium rm 2.8k wild guessing.

Foe executive level: there is not much Allowance able to claim, becoz already package in salary except clerk or admin support allow to claim OT.

Anyone here have friends, who working with AMBank Infra in Tropicana?
If I not mistaken, AMBank Infra in Tropicana are consist of UNIX/Win/DBA/Network.

I would like to know about their working culture, how frequent they need to perform on call support (during weekdays & weekend).

What time they finished their work everyday?

Thats all for today.

Cheers!

I have seen job adv from AmBank which the posts are Senior Executive/Executive,Credit Evaluation and Senior Executive/Executive,Credit Administration. However, they do accept fresh graduate for these posts.

What are the differences between the 2 posts ?

Fresh graduates normally do not have working experience in the banking field so will they expect to valuate those fresh graduate applicant based on executive level or experienced?

I also saw other job adv for executive position requires 2 - 3 years of working experience. I am in a dilemma whether executive position needs working experience or not?

Thanks.

In AmBank 7 months bonus are usually only applicable to people who doing sales. While for IT average is only 1 month bonus.

Added on October 1, 2010, 11:40 pm

Any place also have different type of people either hardworking or lazy. In AmBank it' up to your skill on how to work together with all these type of people

Added on October 1, 2010, 11:42 pm

AmBank IT not only at Raja Chulan. Yap Kwan Sheng and Damansa also have.

Added on October 1, 2010, 11:46 pm

Actually there are also a few support staffs at Yap Kwan Sheng as well. Well Tropicana are mostly all the network guy, server administrator and db administrator placed. While other people in Raja Chualan and Yap Kwan Sheng mostly into Project managament or software development stuff.

Hi all,

Anyone still working in Ambank? Could you please PM me the Hiring Dept's extension number or email? I received a call from the HR (malay lady) and confirmed the interview for Sr. Net Developer this Friday, and she said she will email me about the interview details, but until now I still not yet received the email, I guess she's either forgotten or cancelled my interview.

So i call back the number, it's general line, asked the operator to pass the line to HR dept, rang so long but no one answer, tried few times in different hours still the same...

I really hope I can go for the interview if it's really confirmed by them.
Please please please really need your help... thank you!

After I have read from the first page until last page of this thread, I can conclude that the hiring process is really slow.

Looks like I have to wait feedback from them. Called 2 HR's but no one pickup my call, doing follow up email, no response. Hmm.

Just call HR regarding my Interview whether pass or fail.
The HR unable to provide the answer for it eventough the interview session already pass 2 month.

I ask them why took so long and is the position is closed? they said the hiring dept still not decide yet, and the position is still open.

I remember, thats why the interviewer said to me, you need to wait for 2 month, coz our hiring process took longer time to approved, to many higher level signature to take. I thought they just bluffing, hahahaa actually it is true.
