thats for sure

Added on June 15, 2010, 9:10 amlooks like samsung galaxy s has been underclocked from 1ghz to 800mhz.
i dont know whether when the phone idle then only underclocked or full load to reach 1ghz...

source from samsung insider
*
sure? if that the case, the 1500MAh battery and super AMOLED do not really help to extend battery life as the quite a few in the hardware forum SG complain bout poor battery life (well, to be fair, who knows how they set up the phone that leads to poor battery life)

BTW, any rumours bout the price? maybe can help me make the decision as i'm torn between this and hTC desire as i could get desire at cheaper price...

I really hate to say this but we all know what type of price will samsung malaysia annouce. My guess is probably like when Innov8 and Omnia come out.

sad.gif

do you still remember what was the price back then? want to do some comparison...

around 2699~
*
QUOTE(Gh-x @ Jun 15 2010, 01:00 PM)
Yeah it was something like magic number.
I can remember very well but for Omnia 8GB it was RM2699 and for 16GB it was RM2799 something like that.

If i am wrong those who remember the actual price please fix it tongue.gif
*
thanks...seems like 2699 is the magic number for samsung, if that's the case i think i'll wait for the price to come down...seeing technology keeps on improving faster than I can actually fully utilize the raw power of the CPU, i think i'll get the cheaper alternative... hmm.gif

maybe i'll switch to galaxy S when it's cheaper...however, i believe samsung will give the galaxy S better support as you can see plenty of devices coming out with this hummingbird chipset, even samsung Tape is rumoured to be released with 2.2 so i believe galaxy S will get 1 -2 updates...

it's already June and plenty of rumours flying around saying dual cores devices are coming end of the year...so most likely i'll be spoiled with choices by early 2011...

guys, when samsung innov8 1st day available i bought around RM3099 leh , and then Omnia I around RM2899 , both also 8GB only...  shakehead.gif , for me : 1ghz processor / 4" super amoled screen / 16GB internal momory / HD video recording / android 2.1 = RM2699 / 2799, acceptable loh ... nod.gif
*
i even remembering buying my Touch HD for RM3200 sweat.gif
but now days technology advance so fast that i dont think i want to spend too much on it...it not because i want to have the latest, most happening device (it's almost impossible unless i got an unlimited pocket), but because most OEMs and manufacturers will release new devices and doesnt really want to support older device anymore...

so many phones la nowadays. i wonder samsung can support their many models for froyo upgrades since they release on eclairs. anyone seen super AMOLED in real life yet? such as wave?
*
well nothing is certain, but seeing quite a few devices being released by samsung are using the hummingbird CPU + the powerVR SGX540, most likely these devices will be upgraded to android 2.2...

who is selling it ?
*
could be this seller: [WTS] Samsung Galaxy S

the price is quite attractive considering that the RRP in SG is SGD1098...well at least you can claim warranty with the seller if you have any problem...overall very good pricing, IMO...

and hihihehe posted that the tweet by samsung saying newer batch of galaxy S will be with android 2.2, so it should be pretty soon...maybe june 23rd hmm.gif

but it has the DLNA thingy, so HDMI shouldnt be a big negative point, right?

looks like UK users are beginning to get their hand on Galaxy S, so more review should be popping up...

if really to be selling at RM1699 with maxis plan, i have to say the price would be very, very attractive indeed...

agreed with hihihehe, my money will go for Galaxy S too if you are still undecided if it's really RM1699 with maxis plan...with its more modern CPU+GPU and other misc features like wireless N, bluetooth 3.0, DLNA, 720p recording, better codec supports, it would definitely worth the price...

4 days better than end of this month at australia here..
actually i can import it from UK now with cheaper price around ADU$670-690 including postage but i just wait for release from telco to check for special price.in same time, i can wait for N1 release news from vodafone and also announcement of droid x at next 2 days..
too many news doh.gif
*
IMO, i prefer not to get tie down to a year's contract (but if RM1699 + maxis plan, aint that bad, overall), as i might find myself itchy hand again when the dual core devices start popping up...i believe with google hiring that ex-webOS UI designer, stock UI will definitely drool.gif
i somehow believe google might just release another google phone, which could be my next target...

but if you 100% sure you can use the galaxy S for at least a year, then go for it...it is definitely the king of android phone for now, if you dont mind the design and UI...

still waiting news from hTC regarding my hTC desire.... cry.gif

hmm....  hmm.gif , what i dont like about galaxy s : no FLASH LED ..... rclxub.gif , actually its not so important to me but if samsung can put LED flash in galaxy s , i think the phone would be PERFECT !!! notworthy.gif
*
on the other hand, i would have prefer if it has LED notification...well at least on the power button, to know when it finish charging, new message, miss called etc without having to turn on the screen...
but from what i read the camera perform quite well in low light condition...

some devs r working on it to replace the notification on the menu and back backlight button...and good news is it has been rooted.so mayb they can get it done easier...
but it will notify u when the battery is fully charged...

actually i can live without the led notification because my iphone also dun have..
*
really good to hear...maybe i just got too used to the LED notification...

maxis RRP RM2599 but no special promo price yet... it is about RM400 more expensive than Desire... how desire or Galaxy S... i don have good feeling for Samsung product sad.gif had a few of them in my pass, phones or electrical appliances...
*
well, how long are you planning to use the phone? for now it can be consider the king of android phone...there are a few specifications that are better then desire, whether the specs are worth the extra $$$ is up to you to decide...

if malaysia nvr bring in galaxy s,then ppl complain.now maxis get it,ppl also complain..swt
but seriously what do u expect other than RM1699?even htc desire also RM1499..RM1699 is quite reasonable for Maxis that usually offer higher price...

delay in what? no stock?
*
i still waiting for the stock to arrive as i was eligible to get hTC desire at RM1899 (one of the main reasons i decided to get it)...but up until now i have yet to buy it as i been told the stock is not ready...

i believe some of you are using 3G watchdog, right? i installed it on my sis' galaxy S (i'm using hTC desire) and has set the quota and everything...

after installing i went to the market, to looks for some apps (as i dont think samsung has a widget for displaying texts / sms)...after looking around, i quit the market, and i went into 3G watchdog to see how many data has been used, but to my surprised, it still showing 0kb used? can anyone tell me if i'm doing it right?
