-3DS UPDATE-

QUOTE
Several developers that have experienced 3DS in its current form have reported, off the record, that it has processing capabilities that far exceed the Nintendo Wii and bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Frankly speaking, i don't really believe this, but let's just wait until the thing comes out. rolleyes.gif

Graphic looks closer to PS3? Maybe that's bcoz of the lower resolution and small screen size of the handheld that makes it looks impressive. Plus, we have psp which looks ps 1.5 graphically, so for next gen we can achieve a ps 2.5 graphic with handheld, which means looks better than ps 2 but not surpass ps 3. If this is true I wonder what sony will do since they can no longer outdone nintendo graphically in the handheld competition.

So it seems a Chinese Blogger has got his hands on a 3DS development kit and has started spilling details on it ahead of the official unveil at Nintendo's E3 press junket on Tuesday.

Kotaku has made a mock up based on sketches and details he has released.
here it is:
user posted image

It shares the same clamshell design as the DSlite, and is around the same thickness, but is slightly longer. The Top screen is the 3D on, and the blogger says "the effect of the [3D] screen is amazing". The Bottom one is the exact same Touchscreen as in the DSlite with no changes.

It is Backwards Compatible with all DS and DSi games.

The Two black circles above the D-Pad are Cameras, and may be able to track the players head movements. They may also be used to capture 3D images and/or video. No word if it has another forward facing camera on the top shell (but given that DSi games are BC, it's a given).

It also seems to support MP3 playback along with AAC. It will have it's own proprietary storage format who's slot will accept the Flash Cards DS(i) games are on. It will have a tilt sensor and/or accelerometer, as previously stated by Nintendo.

The system also boast's pretty hearty hardware (no doubt needed for the 3D), said to be on par with the 360 and PS3 (thought a more conservative estimate puts it on par with the Wii).

It is also said to have better Wi-Fi and battery life than the DSi.

The design reminds me of the old phat DS, and I don't like the colour choices they have right now. The graphic looks awfully similar to PSP to be honest.

But the games...... thumbup.gif
