Panasonic engineer just came to pick-up our 2-month old V20K. only 20+ hours of usage cry.gif

he claimed that ours is the first V20K to have a vertical line (top to bottom) appearing. is this line due to dead pixel?

we also complain about 24p judder and buzzing sound from out unit to him.

hope we can get it back early next week.
*
Yeah, let's hope so. The line down the middle you were talking about the other day sounds pretty horrific. Will they replace the set you think?

Just bought the 50v20k in JB for RM5950 with additional 3 yr warranty. Delivered today and still playing with my new baby.........

After watching 50V20, 50U20 and 50X20 side by side for a 2-3 hour at the show room. Here is my comment

On SD signal (watching channel 5 and 8 Mediacorp, Singapore)
1) V has the best black and contrast >> means you can see the border of human body with its background clearer (distinguishable, not blur like U and X series)

2)  Contrast level for X model seems better as compare to U (though V screen might be a bit rough (less resolution) at shorter viewing distance.[COLOR=red]

For the price and quality, I will recommend to buy either V or X series, i.e., if you can effort, go for V, if not, go for X (forget about U series)
For those who is looking to get a wireless wifi dongle, if it is too expensive or difficult to get it, I recommend to get a TP-Link WA500 access point (http://www.tp-link.com/products/productDetails.asp?class=&pmodel=TL%2DWA500G). Cost below RM100. This device converts LAN port on the TV and acts as wifi adapter for your TV.

How is that possible?

All I can say is that I'm loving the 50V20K. I'm still running it on low contrast/brightness for the first 200 hours or so but the picture quality is still pretty amazing on those settings. Glad I went with the plasma.

I also just bought my 42V20K. May I know why u set it at low contrast or brightness? I set it at contrast 70 and brightness 50, does it consider high? what other settings that I need to consider to make the PQ more better. Less experience on this as I just using CRT b4 this...
*
Oh, that's for the initial 200+ hours or so. This is to avoid permanent plasma burn in.

So far, I've dropped the contrast below 50, the brightness I've dropped it -10, and the color as well is below 50.

I suppose the other more experienced users here can give you advice on the appropriate settings for the first 200 hours or so.

After the initial burn in period, gaming shouldn't be a problem on a plasma. Perhaps you need to do more research on this before deciding on a LCD.

That's right,

Press the 2nd button on 6. It's not volume, it's channel changer.

Press and hold on the - button, then press RECALL on the remote 3 times exactly. Service menu will appears. Then follow the rest of the steps someone mentioned earlier in the thread. To exit, just switch the television off and on again.

It's not the actual volume button:-

# Hold down the {-} button ON THE PLASMA TV itself. Not Remote
# Press the {RECALL} button on the remote control 3 times
# The Service Menu will be displayed.

# Use the {2} buttons to select "SRV-TOOL"
and press the {OK} button to access it.

# HIGHLIGHT the box on the right side of the last option: (Navigate by using the arrow buttons on the remote)

# Then press and hold the {MUTE} button on the remote for 3 seconds.

TIME = Hours and Minutes of Operation.
COUNT = Times the Plasma was Powered On.

# To exit, press & hold the {POWER} button ON THE TV for few seconds.

I'm at 143 hours and retention happens pretty often. I don't watch Astro, mostly just blu-ray disc so you can see the retention even if you leave the movie on its blu-ray menu for a while. But it never stays, I mostly run titles without the black bars, but I do watch a couple with it.

Hopefully after 250 it doesn't have much retention. I notice that I can see boxes during the green movie previews (the ones with the MPAA warning) No idea why. I don't see anything when there's the blue PG warning.

Weird.

Do you mean they've giving the 3 years extension free? Because if not, any shop selling the tv offers the 3 years for a price (they'll register it for you).
